All Saints, Jesus Lane, Cambridge - Victorian gothic beauty
All Saints is a Victorian gothic masterpiece designed by George Frederick Bodley. Built 1863-1864 with a second phase in 1869-1871. The slender spire soars above Cambridge and is still the third tallest structure in the City. Bodley designed All Saints as a harmonious whole with simple, elegant architecture overlaid by sumptuous and rich wall painting. Glass was provided by William Morris, Edward Burne Jones and Ford Madox Brown. Decorations were by Charles Eamer Kempe.
GF Bodley dominated ecclesiastical architecture for the following fifty years and completed more than 100 projects. His work includes Washington National Cathedral and St George's Cathedral, Hobart.
All Saints was declared redundant in 1973 but was saved by a determined and well organised friends group. It is now cared for by The Churches Conservation Trust. This film was made as The CCT were preparing to launch new interactives for visitors in April 2016. A few of the technicians inadvertently appear in the film in addition to Gill

Filmed in only fifteen minutes and all hand held! Apologies for any wobbly camera work. The film is accompanied by the organ playing 'Horbury', a hymn tune best known for 'Nearer my God to thee'. This was probably the version played by the band on the Titanic.

Primary Science - Classroom Organisation
This video considers different organisational strategies for teaching science in the primary classroom. These include managing whole class introductions and practical investigations as well as different types of group work. Advantages and disadvantages of each organisation are presented. Viewers are encouraged to think about how to choose the most appropriate strategy.
The video particularly focuses on the need for organisation before a lesson and how the teacher might optimise the learning and assessment of the children during the activities. The video is illustrated with a variety of classroom examples.
Types of Organisation
1: Whole Class - Introduction, practical activity, sharing science books, demonstration, drawing the lesson together
2: Group Work - Groups doing different practical activities, circus of different activities, one group only doing science
Think about - Making the lesson relevant and stimulating. What needs to be done before the lesson. What equipment is available. How can it be organised. The childrens experience of group work. Time available. What will you do in the lesson
The organisation you will choose will depend on - What you want the children to learn. What experience the class already have of group work. The time, equipment and materials available
Your planning should include - What you need to collect and set out. Introducing the work. What the children will do. Monitoring and assessing their learning. Helping children of different abilities. Concluding the lesson
The video was written and produced by Tina Jarvis, Frankie McKeon and Jon Shears from SCIcentre and University of Leicester ITS Multimedia Services. It was made with the kind cooperation of St Marys CE Primary School, Bitteswell, Leicester. Special thanks go to Linda Cork and Penny Vernon.

Building Amazing Homes & Mobile Spaces Using Shipping Containers!
In this video we explore and learn how to use shipping containers as strong, durable and mobile building blocks to create amazing structures of all kinds, like a house, addition, office space, or cabin; and we feature a few stunning projects to get you inspired!
Anthony Ruggiero from Storstac Inc. ( showed us around their yard in Toronto, Ontario and took the time to teach us about the ins and outs of building with shipping containers. We're excited to share the tips and information we learned with you.
Shipping containers come in standard 20 foot and 40 foot lengths, and there are other specialty custom sizes like the 10', 45', 48', 53' long containers.
Almost all shipping containers are made in China, and can be bought used (after they've been used for 10-20 years), or new, which means they've one been used once.
Since there are no shipping manifests for used containers to show what was transported in them over the course of their lifetime (it could be anything from clothes to nuclear waste), it's better to build with a new shipping container that's only been used once.
They're made with COR-TEN steel, which is a weathering steel that can withstand harsh weather conditions and elements like salt water because the rust on weathering steel creates a protective patina to keep it strong, whereas rust on mild steel would actually weaken the metal.
While building with shipping containers is not necessarily cheaper than conventional building, it does have advantages because the containers are modular, movable and mobile, durable, and have a unique, modern look.
They can be do it yourself friendly if you've worked with steel before, or if you find a company to take care of the steel work for you so you can focus on how to frame it and finish it from the inside.
Let us know what you think of shipping containers as alternative building blocks in the comments!

Kensington Palace K-Rated by Ruby & Grace
For more info, news and offers visit
Ruby and Grace visit Kensington Palace in London and give it a K-Rating!
The birthplace and childhood home of Queen Victoria, this elegant 17th-century palace lies in the heart of Kensington.
The Orangery Restaurant has a fine selection of teas and provides morning coffee, light lunches, afternoon tea and al fresco dining on the terrace. Cakes, pastries and a selection of wines and Historic Royal Palace beers are also on offer. Children are welcome and can take a special children's version of afternoon tea.
The palace has recently reopened after a £12-million renovation project, and has been reorganised into a number of permanent exhibitions arranged as journeys through different centuries of royal life.
The first of these new routes focuses on the lives of William & Mary, who commissioned Sir Christopher Wren and Nicholas Hawksmoor to design the building. The second route relates to the later occupancy of George II, whose court was centred at the palace, while the third highlights Victoria and Albert's time there.
Queen Victoria was born and grew up in Kensington Palace. It was here that she first found out she was to be Queen, and where she met her future husband, Albert.
Later, in the 20th century, princesses Margaret and Diana both spent time living at the Palace and it is currently the official London residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George of Cambridge, Prince Harry of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
Watch the review all the way through to find out what K-Rating Ruby and Grace gave it.

Sir Edward Coley Burne Jones (1833–1898) ✽ David Garrett / Albinoni - Adagio
Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones,1833–1898
Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, 1st Baronet ARA (28 August 1833 – 17 June 1898) was a British artist and designer closely associated with the later phase of the Pre-Raphaelite movement, who worked closely with William Morris on a wide range of decorative arts as a founding partner in Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. Burne-Jones was closely involved in the rejuvenation of the tradition of stained glass art in Britain; his stained glass works include the windows of St. Philip's Cathedral, Birmingham, St Martin in the Bull Ring, Birmingham, Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square, Chelsea, St Martin's Church in Brampton, Cumbria (the church designed by Philip Webb), St Michael's Church, Brighton, All Saints, Jesus Lane, Cambridge, Christ Church, Oxford and in St. Anne's Church, Brown Edge, Staffordshire Moorlands and St.Edward the Confessor church at Cheddleton Staffordshire. Burne-Jones's early paintings show the heavy inspiration of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, but by the 1860s Burne-Jones was discovering his own artistic voice. In 1877, he was persuaded to show eight oil paintings at the Grosvenor Gallery (a new rival to the Royal Academy). These included The Beguiling of Merlin. The timing was right, and he was taken up as a herald and star of the new Aesthetic Movement.
In addition to painting and stained glass, Burne-Jones worked in a variety of crafts; including designing ceramic tiles, jewellery, tapestries, mosaics and book illustration,
