Dressing room in Yekaterinburg, Russia
Boris Yeltsin Presidential Center (Yekaterinburg, Russia)
Boris Yeltsin Presidential Center is a multi-purpose center that combines socio-cultural, commercial and leisure activities. It follows the design of Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA).
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño is responsible for the museographic implementation of the permanent exhibition dedicated to the figure of Boris Yeltsin as first president of the Russian Federation. The itinerary of the exhibition is symbolically divided into 7 rooms, each one dedicated to a phase in the creation of contemporary Russia, through scenographic recreations that reconstruct key areas of its history (meeting room of the Politburo, a street in Moscow, an apartment, among others). A large number of audiovisual productions and interactives complete the experience in the rooms.
The visit ends with an area called “Freedom Gallery”. This room,
dedicated to the most important achievement of Yeltsin’s government, focuses on the testimonies of personalities and people on the street, and gives all visitors the opportunity to leave their own freedom-related message in the interactive “What Freedom means to Me”.
The Museum has received the European Museum of the Year Award 2016 –in the Kenneth Hudson category– for its “exceptional and daring achievement, challenging common perceptions of museums in society.
Russia: Graffiti art gallery for the blind unveiled in Yekaterinburg
A brail ‘graffiti gallery’ dedicated to visually impaired stars including musician Ray Charles, athlete Marle Runyan and programmer Mikhail Pozhidaev, was unveiled in Yekaterinburg on Saturday.
SOT, Andrei Kolokolov, Artist and Author, (Russian): We just thought, how it is possible to make a picture that can be read only in cooperation with blind people? I mean, if we look at this picture now, we can see a picture only. If blind people come closer and touch it, they will read text only. When we are talking and hang out altogether they can tell us what the text is about and we can describe what picture we see. So it seemed to be a really good idea that could unite people.
SOT, Andrei Kolokolov, Artist and Author, (Russian): Generally speaking, there is a story in each picture, about a sportsman, an IT engineer, and a musician. The meanings intertwine and help us to come together. Something like that.

Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall by Zaha Hadid Architects
Zaha Hadid Architects have been selected by the jury of the international design competition to build the new Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The city’s acclaimed Ural Philharmonic Orchestra has performed in more than 20 countries and collaborates with renowned artists worldwide.
Echoing the physical aspects of sound waves, the design of the new Philharmonic Concert Hall is based on the properties of musical sound resonance creating wave vibrations in a continuous smooth surface. The design re-interprets these physical acoustic properties to define spaces for the auditoria that are suspended within the canopy, appearing to float above the new civic plaza that is both the lobby of the Philharmonic Concert Hall and an enclosed urban square.
Providing a 1,600-seat Concert Hall and a 400-seat Chamber Music Hall of the highest acoustic standards, these new auditoria are nestled within the surface deformations of the suspended canopy; liberating the lobbies from obstructions to open this space as a vibrant new gathering place for the local community. The lobby serves not only as an introduction to the world of symphony music, but also as a welcoming public plaza for all members of its local community. Source by Zaha Hadid Architects. Info project

Stumps playground - unique natural playing space in Yekaterinburg, Russia
Stumps is a modern natural playground invented and built by Chekharda bereau шт 2018. It's a large space with natural forms risen up in front of the most urban attribute of Yekaterinburg city - the main shopping mall. The contradiction between natural forms of the playground and a strict building geometry is smoothed by the harmony between the Stumps timber texture and the mall’s facade finishing.
The client of the playground was a Swedish company with one of the offices in Ural, Russia. And the Ural and Scandinavia features were a strong point of brief. So, architects came up with the idea of a wise mixture of a mood and an atmosphere of the Ural and Scandinavian nature. Natural playground concept fitted this aim the best so all the elements got fabricated from wild nature materials: tree trunks, logs, windbreaks, stones, and ropes. This way gives children a chance for a natural kinetic, tactile and visual experience that is in huge shortage in any urban environment. Also, natural forms make a reason for imagination and cause a wide variety of play scenarios for kids.
For adults, the Stumps playing space plays a role of an aesthetic oasis for changing of scenery between the city and the shopping mall, and allows people to take a break from the modern urban environment.
