Green Bench Brewing tour: true mixed culture brewing | The Craft Beer Channel
We're back in St Pete, Florida to visit Green Bench Brewing. Named after the city's famous green benches this brewery has immersed itself in its local culture while brewing styles the locals had never even heard of. In doing so they've led a mini beer and culture revolution. We talk the challenges of licensing, the haze craze and mixed ferm brewing, as well as the controversial history of the green bench itself.

LYRICS
Sippin' on straight chlorine,
Let the vibe slide over me,
This beat is a chemical, beat is a chemical,
When I leave don't save my seat,
I'll be back when it's all complete,
The moment is medical, moment is medical.
Loving what I'm tasting,
Venom on my tongue,
Dependent at times.
Poisonous vibrations,
Help my body run,
I'm running for my life.
Fall out of formation,
I plan my escape,
From walls they confined.
Rebel red carnation,
Grows while I decay,
I'm running for my life.
Hide you in my coat pocket,
Where I kept my rebel red,
I felt I was invincible,
You wrapped around my head,
Now different lives I lead,
My body lives on lead,
The last two lines may read,
Incorrect until said,
The lead is terrible in flavor,
But now you double as a paper maker,
I despise you sometimes,
I love to hate the fight,
And you in my life is like...
I'm so sorry I forgot you,
Let me catch you up to speed,
I've been tested like the ends of,
A weathered flag that's by the sea.
Can you build my house with pieces?
I'm just a chemical.

We paid a visit to Ryan Leeds at Boca Raton's Prime Cigar & Wine Bar, which is—among other things—an homage to his late father. It's also one of the best places in the country to enjoy a cigar with a beer, wine or spirit.

Grayton Beer Company Is Family Owned, Craft Brewery In Santa Rosa Beach
During the September 2018 Destin Business Form, the Destin Chamber's monthly TV show, host Amy Perry, Pleat & Perry, P.A., interviews Chelsea Blaich, Marketing Director for Grayton Beer Company.
Grayton Beer Company is a family owned craft brewery in Santa Rosa Beach. It originally opened in 2011, and its beer is now distributed in six states. In 2014, it opened its Taproom, which is a 30,000-square-foot production facility and event space. Its beer is brewed and packaged there, and it is opened six days per week to the public for tours and tastings. It is also available for events, fundraisers, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, holiday parties, and more.
The Grayton Beer Brewpub, a fully operational brewery, restaurant, and bar, which opened on 30A in Grayton Beach in April 2018. It offers 15 beers on tap, a varied menu, wine, and craft cocktails. It serves lunch and dinner daily. Many of the beers offered there are brewed onsite.
Grayton Beer Company launched its 30A Beach Blonde Ale and 30A Rosé Gose cans this year. Cans are a more effective light and oxygen barrier, which preserve the beer’s freshness and integrity. They are ideal for consumer’s active lifestyles as they pack easier and chill faster.
For more information about some of its year-round beer, small batch offerings, and upcoming events, please visit GraytonBeer.com or call (850) 231-4786.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Fort Atkinson (#503)
[Latest Airdate: October 4, 2018]
[Original Airdate: January 21, 2016]
We wish you could have seen John's face when he experienced Fort Atkinson for the first time. When we walked into Nasco's demo room where health care professionals were practicing life-saving skills on realistic looking body parts, his chin hit the floor. When he saw the fence around the rock that marks the spot of Atkinson's original fort, his eyebrows furrowed with puzzlement. When we told him to get in the canoe, his eyes widened with joy. (John Gurda's widened with fear!) When he slid down the slide at Busy Barns Adventure Farm, his smile was ear to ear. But when they put a goat in his lap, well, let's just say that his expression changed to one of panic! When he heard Bill sing at Café Carpe, his eyes closed in serenity. And when he tasted the sweet potato soufflé at The Fireside Dinner Theatre, his mouth watered with sheer joy.
Fort Atkinson made John even more expressive than usual --- and that's not easy to do!

American Craft: What Beer Can Teach Us About Well-Crafted Laws
There’s never been a better time to be a beer drinker, with thousands of breweries across the country offering a virtually endless variety of beer. But it wasn’t always this way. After Prohibition ended, lawmakers didn’t legalize homebrewing—whether by design or by accident is unclear. While this didn’t dissuade underground homebrewers, it did prevent the commercialization and spread of craft beer. By the 1970s, fed up with the lack of variety in beer, consumers began to demand more freedom… and President Jimmy Carter delivered. (Yes, Jimmy Carter.) This documentary short by FedSoc Films explores the story behind the craft beer renaissance and the importance of well-crafted legislation.
Six experts and beer drinkers discuss the story of American Craft: Trevor Burrus (Cato Institute), Garrett Peck (historian and author), Daniel Vilarrubi (Atlas Brew Works), Justin Cox (Atlas Brew Works), Candace Moon (Dinsmore & Shohl), and Anastasia Boden (Pacific Legal Foundation).

Medical marijuana is legal in 20 states and the District of Columbia, but there are still use cases that are very controversial, like medical marijuana for children. Some claim it's a wonder drug for epilepsy, severe autism, and even to quell the harsh side effects of chemotherapy, while others decry pumping marijuana into still-growing bodies. We went to the small town of Pendleton, Oregon, where medical marijuana is legal, to visit Mykayla Comstock, an eight-year-old leukemia patient who takes massive amounts of weed to treat her illness. Her family, and many people we met along the way, believe not only in the palliative aspects of the drug, but also in marijuana's curative effect—that pot can literally shrink tumors.

Steve Hindy: The Craft Beer Revolution | Talks at Google
Over the past 30 years craft-brewed beer has exploded in growth. In 1980, a handful of microbrewery pioneers launched a revolution that would challenge the dominance of the national brands, Budweiser, Coors, and Miller, and change the way Americans think about, and drink, beer. Today, there are more than 2,600 craft breweries in the United States and another 1,500 are in the works. Their influence is spreading to Europe's great brewing nations, and to countries all over the globe.
In The Craft Beer Revolution, Steve Hindy, co-founder of Brooklyn Brewery, tells the inside story of how a band of homebrewers and microbrewers came together to become one of America's great entrepreneurial triumphs. Beginning with Fritz Maytag, scion of the washing machine company, and Jack McAuliffe, a US Navy submariner who developed a passion for real beer while serving in Scotland, Hindy tells the story of hundreds of creative businesses like Deschutes Brewery, New Belgium, Dogfish Head, and Harpoon. He shows how their individual and collective efforts have combined to grab 10 percent of the dollar share of the US beer market.
Hindy also explores how Budweiser, Miller, and Coors, all now owned by international conglomerates, are creating their own craft-style beers, the same way major food companies have acquired or created smaller organic labels to court credibility with a new generation of discerning eaters and drinkers. This is a timely and fascinating look at what America's new generation of entrepreneurs can learn from the intrepid pioneering brewers who are transforming the way Americans enjoy this wonderful, inexpensive, storied beverage: beer.

Blended
Reuniting Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore and director Frank Coraci -- the trifecta behind New Line Cinema's game-changing romantic comedy The Wedding Singer -- this modern-day family comedy follows two single parents, Jim and Lauren (Sandler & Barrymore) who, after a disastrous blind date, can agree on only one thing: never to see each other again. They soon find themselves, however with their respective kids from previous marriages -- on the same family vacation package in South Africa. Despite all their efforts to resist, an attraction grows between the two, blending their two families into one...with hilarious results. Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry Crews, Community's Joel McHale, Saturday Night Live's Kevin Nealon and Bridesmaids' Wendi McLendon-Covey are also on board to join the fun.
