The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is located in Jupiter, Florida, on the north side of the Jupiter Inlet. The site for the lighthouse was chosen in 1853. It is located between Cape Canaveral Light and Hillsboro Inlet Light. The lighthouse was designed by then Lieutenant George G. Meade of the Bureau of Topographical Engineers. The Jupiter Inlet silted shut in 1854, forcing all building supplies to be shipped in light boats down the Indian River. Work was interrupted from 1856 to 1858 by the Third Seminole War. The lighthouse was completed in 1860 at a cost of more than $60,000.

Staying At Jonathan Dickinson State Park Campground & Long Pine Key Campground, Exploring Jupiter
first long trip in our new Grand Design Imagine 2670 MK Travel Trailer. We headed 4 hours south to Jupiter FL where we stayed at Jonatan Dickinson State Park Campground. Although we haven't been to a ton of campgrounds up to this point, this place really impressed us. We stayed in the Pine Grove Campground (there are several in the park) Dickinson State Park is massive with plenty to do, and the campground is spread out enough to provide each camper with privacy. The beaches around Jupiter FL blew us away. Some of our friends even thought we were in the Caribbean because the water was so blue.
From Jupiter we headed south to the Everglades National Park. We camped at Long Pine Key Campground which is about 5 miles into the National Park. The campground itself is really nice and spread out. However, no cell service is available out here and this is dry camping (no power, water or electric) Luckily, we had our generator and cell booster with us which kept us cool and the cell booster provided us with at least one bar of cell service. We were able to check emails and get messages out.
Long Pine Key is a great place to base yourself to explore the Everglades and close enough to take a day trip down to the Florida Keys. We drove down to Islamorada, which took about an hour and fifteen minutes from the campground.

Nine Mile Pond Canoe Trip - Everglades NP, Florida
Relax and enjoy the half-day adventure as we canoe through the Florida Everglades National Park's Nine Mile Pond. We were the first ones out on this bright January morning and we did not see anyone on the five mile trail. The rest of the tourists were all behind us! We had the complete pond and trail system to ourselves; charmed again! It also helped getting up at 4am! We were amazed when we returned to a full parking lot just before noon.
