Castel Tirolo (BZ)

Tyrol Castle (German: Schloss Tirol), at Tyrol (BZ), is the original castle of the Counts of Tyrol and the birthplace of the territory that they take the nome.Oggi the castle houses the Museum of History of the Province of Bolzano.
The cliff upon which it stands has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Were also found objects and tombs dating back to the Dark Ages. Archaeologists in 1993 also found an early Christian church. [1] It was - it turned out - of three churches built one on the remains of the other, the oldest of which, with the foundations and masonry structure wood, dates back to the late Roman period. The second is the sixth century (although its use as a place of worship before the subsequent addition of the apse still debate [2]); the newer building, with three apses, dates back to the VIII-XI century.
The first fortified settlement dates back to the eleventh century, traces of which are located in the basement of the building, to the south, and the adjacent chapel.
Very important are the Romanesque portals of the palace and the chapel, rich carvings. Among historians there is no agreement on the date and origin of these portals: some would even - at least partially - to be traced back to the church with three apses whose remains were found not far away, for other commissioned by Count Albert III of Tyrol.

Located below the imposing Coira Castle, it is probably the best-preserved Renaissance fortification in the entire South Tyrol and also contains a huge armoury museum. This old farming village also found itself at the centre of historic battles and conflicts between the aristocracy, the episcopate and local farmers. Located at the intersection between the Upper and Central Venosta Valleys, it was one of the first settlements governed by written municipal laws dating back to the 13th century. Nearby Sluderno and to the local Vintschger Museum is the archeological site of Ganglegg, containing relics from the Bronze and Iron Ages. It's fortifications date back to the Roman Era.

Places to see in ( Merano - Italy )
Places to see in ( Merano - Italy )
Merano is an Alpine town in Italy’s South Tyrol region. It’s known for its spas and art nouveau buildings. Sissi’s Path leads to the Trauttmansdorff Castle, with its terraced gardens. The castle also encompasses Touriseum, an interactive museum, with exhibits about Alpine tourism. At the foot of the Ifinger Mountain, in the northeast, is Merano 2000, a ski area with slopes and a snow park, plus summer hiking.
With its leafy boulevards, birdsong, oleanders and cacti, Merano feels like you've stumbled into a valley Shangri-La. Long lauded for its sunny microclimate, this poignantly pretty town (and one-time Tyrolean capital) was a Habsburg-era spa and the hot destination of its day, favoured by the Austrian royals plus Freud, Kafka and Pound. The Jugendstil (art nouveau) villas, recuperative walks and the grand riverside Kurhaus fan out from its intact medieval core.
The city's therapeutic traditions have served it well in the new millennium, with spa hotels drawing a new generation of health-conscious visitors and a booming organics movement in the surrounding valleys. German is spoken almost exclusively here, sausage and beer stalls dot the streets and an annual open-air play celebrates Napoleonic-era Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. Despite the palm trees, you're far closer to Vienna than Rome. Apart from its old-fashioned charms, it also makes an urban base for skiing or hiking nearby Merano 2000.
Merano is a town and comune in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Generally best known for its spa resorts, it is located within a basin, surrounded by mountains standing up to 3,335 metres (10,942 feet) above sea level, at the entrance to the Passeier Valley and the Vinschgau. In the past, the town has been a popular place of residence for several scientists, literary people, and artists, including Franz Kafka, Ezra Pound, Paul Lazarsfeld, and also Empress Elisabeth of Austria, who appreciated its mild climate.
Among the town's landmarks are the medieval city gates such as the Vinschgauer Tor, Passeirer Tor, and the Bozener Tor. Also belonging to the fortifications is the medieval Ortenstein tower, popularly called Pulverturm (lit. powder tower). The main churches are the Gothic St. Nicholas' Church and the St. Barbara's Chapel, both dating to the 15th century. Also dating to this period is the Princely Castle (Landesfürstliche Burg), which was a residence of Archduke Sigismund of Austria. The Steinerner Steg stone bridge crosses the Passer river and dates to the 17th century.
The town saw further development as it became increasingly popular as a spa resort, especially after Empress Elisabeth of Austria started visiting. Dating from the 19th century are civic theatre, the Kurhaus and the Empress Elisabeth Park. Also famous are the arched Wandelhalle promenades along the river. After the annexation of the town to Italy in 1919, the Fascist authorities constructed the new town hall in the 1920s. Outside the town is Trauttmansdorff Castle and its gardens. Also located there is the Museum of Tourism, which was opened in the spring of 2003 and shows the historical development of tourism in the province. Tirol Castle is also close-by.
Merano is a popular tourist destination especially for Germans and Italians. In summer, there are concerts on the promenade almost daily, and there are fine walks around the town and in the surrounding hills, not least Meran 2000, where there is also skiing in winter. The town is reachable with the railway Bolzano-Merano, which continues to the Vinschgau Railway Merano-Malles.

Places to see in ( Bressanone - Italy )
Brixen is a town in northern Italy. The baroque-style Cathedral of Brixen has a sumptuous marble interior. Nearby, the Chiostro di Bressanone is a Romanesque cloister with medieval frescoes. In the Bishop's Palace, the Diocesan Museum exhibits medieval and Renaissance art, plus a collection of crèches. The Gothic White Tower features 4 bay windows. The Plose, a mountain to the southeast, has trails and ski slopes.
First mentioned in 901, Brixen is the third largest city and oldest town in the province, and the artistic and cultural capital of the valley. It is located at the confluence of the Eisack and Rienz rivers, 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Bolzano and 45 kilometres (28 mi) south of the Brenner Pass, on the Italy-Austrian border. It is flanked on the eastern side by the Plose and Telegraph (Monte Telegrafo) mountains (2,504 m) and on the western side by the Königsanger (Monte Pascolo) (2,436 m) mountain. Brixen is especially known as a major skiing resort (the Plose). Other activities include hydroelectric power, orchards, and vineyards.
Frazioni / incorporated villages: Afers (Eores), Albeins (Albes), Elvas, Gereuth, Karnol, Klerant (Cleran), Kranebitt (Costa d'Elvas), Mahr (La Mara), Mairdorf, Mellaun (Meluno), Pairdorf (Perara), Pinzagen (Pinzago), Plabach, Rutzenberg, St. Andrä (S.Andrea), St. Leonhard (S.Leonardo), Sarns (Sarnes), Tils (Tiles), Tötschling (Tecelinga), Tschötsch (Scezze), Untereben.
The area of Brixen has been settled since the Upper Paleolithic (8th millennium BC). They held it until around 590, when it was occupied by Bavarians.
Alot to see in Bressanone such as :
The Cathedral (10th century), was rebuilt in the 13th century and again in 1745–54 along Baroque lines. The ceiling of the nave has a large fresco by Paul Troger portraying the Adoration of the Lamb.
The Hofburg, a Renaissance Bishop's Palace (started in the 13th century), one of the main noble residences in South Tyrol. The Diocesan Museum has several artworks, including a presepe with 5,000 figures created for Bishop Karl Franz Lodron.
The round parish church of Saint Michael (11th century). The Gothic choir and the bell tower are from the 15th century while the nave is from the 16th. The main artwork is a wooden Cireneus from the 15th century.
The Pharmacy Museum (Pharmaziemuseum Brixen), located in a nearly 500-year-old townhouse, shows the development and changes of the local pharmacy. The Peer family (now the 7th generation) has run this pharmacy since 1787, always in the same location. The museum's carefully restored rooms illustrate the development of the pharmaceutical profession over the centuries and the changes in remedies used, from the testicles of a beaver and pieces of an ancient Egyptian mummy to modern plasters and lyophilisates. All the objects and medicines on display were in use over the centuries. The Museum also has a library for historical research and the archive of the Peer family. In a separate room there is a multimedia display of the history of the family.
Outside the city is Rodeneck Castle, one of the most powerful of its time. It has precious frescoes from the early 13th century. Also important are Reifenstein Castle and Trostburg Castle in Waidbruck. In the latter lived the adventurer and minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein.

Marienplatz. The most important square of the city. There is a golden statue of Mary. History say it is ut up there because peopel praid to Mary to stop the plague and it worked. I honor her the installed the statue.
On the square is the beautifull new cityhall. Built only in 1903 in gotic style it looks older than it is. The royal family of Bavaria was big and famaos. On the cityhall are lot of statues of members of the Bavarian royal family. At 11 am, 12 am and 5 pm the carousel will dance. It is a big attraction. The mayor is working in this building.
On the right is the old city hall which looks more new than the new cityhall.
I am on Alter Peter the tower name of the St. Peter Church. It is the oldes church in Munich. It is 306 steps up to the platform at 56 meter above the city. Also go inside the church it is very beautifull. The altar has a big statue. Looking from at the back forward it is very decorated and you see lot of gold statues. The painted roof.
Viktualienmarkt. There is a biergarden under the old chestnutrees. The maibaum, which shows what youe can buy in a city. A fountain. On this square since 1807 they sell daily foodstuff of all kind. It is nice to walk here and have a drink. There are also nice restaurants and bars with a roof.
Frauenkirche. With 2 towers of 98 meters in shape of an onion it catches the eye. Go inside to see the foorprint of the devil who helped building the church in a short time.
English garden. The green lung of the city. With 375 hectar it is one of the bigest parks in the world.
Odeonplatz. A square With a big honor to generals. Theatinerchurch. The hofgarden and the residenz. The residenz was the palace and part of it is now a museum. The English garden which is one of the biggest park in the world.
See the city wall on Isator or Sendlinger tor. Next is the small but beautifull Asamchurch. It is fully decorated.
Theresienwiese or Theresienhöhe. The place of the Oktoberfest. The famous beer party. There is the staue of Bavaria. The patronin of Bavaria. From up there you can see all but normaly it is a big open square.
Museums. Munich has over 80 museum of differce subjects. On sunday some of them only charge euro 1 fee. Good for a rainy day too.
Car fans should visit BWM haus.
