????️Catalina Island things to do + Photowalk????️
#Catalina #CatalinaPhotowalk #Photowalk
Jefferson Graham brings the Photowalk cameras to Catalina Island, off the Los Angeles, for episode #46 of the Photowalk travel adventure series.
This edition inspired by Apple, which has named its latest macOS operating system after the island, macOS Catalina.
The Photowalk is all about searching for the best photo spots on the island, including the historic Casino, former William Wrigley mansion Inn at Mt. Ada, and where to get the best sunset and sunrise shots on the island. (Start with the best view shots on the boats.)
Along the way, Jeff takes a trip to the back country of the island, to Two Harbors and Airport in the Sky and meets some fascinating local characters.

Photography note: you need a permit to operate a drone, and those can be picked from the Catalina Conservancy or the city of Avalon.

The #Photowalks series is all about bringing viewers to cool places in the Southern California (and elsewhere) area in search of the best photo spots to light up your social media, and to show how, when and where to get them.
Past #Photowalk episodes include visits to Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Balboa Island, the Griffith Observatory and Venice Beach. We went outside the area to trek to Pismo Beach, a road trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Tokyo and Kauai.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
We were challenged by Jennifer Cohen to complete the #ALSIceBucketChallenge. We will be donating $10 for every employee of the Catalina Coffee & Cookie Co. and for each tour guide of #FoodTourCatalina. We challenge the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce, Steve's Steakhouse, Mr. Ning's Chinese Garden, Coyote Joe's, CC Gallagher and Avalon Seafood. You have 24 hours to respond to the challenge. To make your donations, visit alsa.org/donate. Let's see those videos! #CatalinaIsland PLEASE NOTE: We are in the middle of a severe drought and Stage 2 water rationing on Catalina Island. For that reason, we have used Salt Water (straight out of the ocean) and purchased ice that has been delivered to the island.

Dialed-In with Don Knabe Episode 28: Catalina Island
As Supervisor of the Fourth District of Los Angeles County, I represent a large number of cities and unincorporated communities.
My district stretches from Marina del Rey to Long Beach out through Cerritos all the way to Diamond Bar—with 2.2 million residents in between.
But many people don’t know that I am the only County Supervisor in the state of California that represents an island—two of them actually.
Twenty-two miles off the California coast sits Catalina Island.
Home to nearly 4,000 residents, shops, fantastic restaurants and some of the most spectacular natural beauty—Catalina Island is Los Angeles County’s little piece of paradise.
So sit right back and you’ll hear from the Mayor of Catalina’s largest city, Avalon, and the President and CEO of the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
I hope you will enjoy the show!

Travel 22 miles from the Southern California coast and across the Pacific Ocean to Santa Catalina Island, where bison and native foxes roam. The island's unique wildlife and geology attracts many visitors year after year.

Approaching Carnival Inspiration from Catalina, California HD
Approaching Carnival Inspiration from Catalina Island after a few hours of hiking.
All Carnival ships inspire guests to have a great time and memorable vacation, but it won’t surprise you to learn that the inspiration for Carnival Inspiration was nothing less than inspiration itself! This ship’s uniquely creative spirit is on display, and definitely shines as you cruise the Western Caribbean.
From the moment you step into the Grand Atrium, you’ll realize that it isn’t just a room with a high ceiling — it’s a place of high art. Your dinner at one of the two main dining rooms is more than just a dish in front of you — it’s the result of our chefs’ culinary creativity. And the Paris and Candlelight Lounges aren’t just rooms with some seats and a stage — they’re spots for our performers to transport you to another place and time.
Traditionally, an ocean liner for the transoceanic trade will be built to a higher standard than a typical cruise ship, including high freeboard and stronger plating to withstand rough seas and adverse conditions encountered in the open ocean, such as the North Atlantic. Ocean liners also usually have larger capacities for fuel, victuals, and other stores for consumption on long voyages, compared to dedicated cruise ships.
Santa Catalina Island, often called Catalina Island, or just Catalina, is a rocky island off the coast of the U.S. state of California in the Gulf of Santa Catalina. The island is 22 miles (35 km) long and 8 miles (13 km) across at its greatest width. The island is located about 22 miles (35 km) south-southwest of Los Angeles, California. The highest point on the island is 2,097 feet (639 m) Mt. Orizaba. Santa Catalina is part of the Channel Islands of California archipelago and lies within Los Angeles County.
Catalina was originally settled by Native Americans who called the island Pimugna or Pimu and referred to themselves as Pimugnans or Pimuvit. The first Europeans to arrive on Catalina claimed it for the Spanish Empire.

Flap Jack The Catalina Island Fox
Here is an old fox that always wanders around our camp. He is super old and mangy but I think he is really cute! I have named him Flap Jack because his ears are floppy. The younger more agile foxes have bitten poor Flap Jack's ears so many times that he is now hard of hearing. His ears are permanently floppy because he has been beat up so many times. The Catalina Island fox's will purposely go for the ears because hearing is their strongest sense, and good hearing means survival. That hasn't stopped old Flap Jack though!
