Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Georgia, with an estimated 2013 population of 447,841.[6] Atlanta is the cultural and economic center of the Atlanta metropolitan area, home to 5,522,942 people and the ninth largest metropolitan area in the United States.[7] Atlanta is the county seat of Fulton County, and a small portion of the city extends eastward into DeKalb County.
Atlanta is considered an alpha- or world city,[17] ranking 36th among world cities and 8th in the nation with a gross domestic product of $270 billion.[18] Atlanta's economy is considered diverse, with dominant sectors including logistics, professional and business services, media operations, and information technology.[19] Topographically, Atlanta is marked by rolling hills and dense tree coverage.[20] Revitalization of Atlanta's neighborhoods, initially spurred by the 1996 Olympics, has intensified in the 21st century, altering the city's demographics, politics, and culture.[21][22]
Tourism
As of 2010, Atlanta is the seventh-most visited city in the United States, with over 35 million visitors per year.[158] Although the most popular attraction among visitors to Atlanta is the Georgia Aquarium,[159] the world's largest indoor aquarium,[160] Atlanta's tourism industry mostly driven by the city's history museums and outdoor attractions. Atlanta contains a notable amount of historical museums and sites, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, which includes the preserved childhood home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as well as his final resting place; the Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum, which houses a massive painting and diorama in-the-round, with a rotating central audience platform, depicting the Battle of Atlanta in the Civil War; the World of Coca-Cola, featuring the history of the world famous soft drink brand and its well-known advertising; the College Football Hall of Fame which honors college football and its athletes; the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which explores the American Civil Rights Movement and its connection to contemporary human rights movements throughout the world; the Carter Center and Presidential Library, housing U.S. President Jimmy Carter's papers and other material relating to the Carter administration and the Carter family's life; and the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum, site of the writing of the best-selling novel Gone with the Wind.
Atlanta also contains various outdoor attractions.[161] The Atlanta Botanical Garden, adjacent to Piedmont Park, is home to the 600-foot-long (180 m) Kendeda Canopy Walk, a skywalk that allows visitors to tour one of the city's last remaining urban forests from 40-foot-high (12 m). The Canopy Walk is considered the only canopy-level pathway of its kind in the United States. Zoo Atlanta, located in Grant Park, accommodates over 1,300 animals representing more than 220 species. Home to the nation's largest collections of gorillas and orangutans, the Zoo is also one of only four zoos in the U.S. to house giant pandas.[162] Festivals showcasing arts and crafts, film, and music, including the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, and Music Midtown, respectively, are also popular with tourists.[163]
Sports
Atlanta is home to professional franchises for three major team sports: the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball, the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association, and the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. The Braves, who moved to Atlanta in 1966, were established as the Boston Red Stockings in 1871 and are the oldest continually operating professional sports franchise in the United States.[citation needed] The Braves won the World Series in 1995, and had an unprecedented run of 14 straight divisional championships from 1991 to 2005.[171]

Stone Mountain Park, Stone Mountain, Georgia, United States, North America
Stone Mountain, is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock in Stone Mountain, Georgia, United States. At its summit, the elevation is 1,686 feet (514 m) MSL and 825 feet (251 m) above the surrounding area. Stone Mountain is well-known not only for its geology, but also for the enormous bas-relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world. The carving depicts three figures of the Confederate States of America: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. Stone Mountain is more than 5 miles (8.0 km) in circumference at its base, and is surrounded by the Stone Mountain Park. The summit of the mountain can be reached by a walk-up trail on the west side of the mountain only, or by the Skyride aerial tram. Stone Mountain is a pluton, a type of igneous intrusion. Primarily composed of quartz monzonite, the dome of Stone Mountain was formed during the formation of the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the Appalachian Mountains. It formed as a result of the upwelling of magma from within the Earth's crust. This magma solidified to form granite within the crust five to ten miles below the surface. Stone Mountain granite extends underground 9 miles (14 km) at its longest point into Gwinnett County. Numerous reference books and Georgia literature have dubbed Stone Mountain as the largest exposed piece of granite in the world. This misnomer is most likely a result of advertisement by granite companies and early park administration. Stone Mountain, though often called a pink granite dome, actually ranges in composition from quartz monzonite to granite and granodiorite. The granite is composed of quartz, plagioclase feldspar, microcline and muscovite, with smaller amounts of biotite and tourmaline. The tourmaline is mostly black in color, and the majority of it exists as optically continuous skeletal crystals, but much larger, euhedral pegmatitic tourmaline crystals can also be found in the mountain's numerous, cross-cutting felsic dikes. Embedded in the granite are xenoliths or pieces of foreign rocks entrained in the magma. The granite intruded into the metamorphic rocks of the Piedmont region during the last stages of the Alleghenian Orogeny, which was the time when North America and North Africa collided. Over time, erosion eventually exposed the present mountain of more resistant igneous rock, in processes similar to those that have exposed Devils Tower in Wyoming. This vein of granite also gave rise to Arabia Mountain and Panola Mountain in DeKalb County, smaller outcroppings further east of Stone Mountain. The mountain's composition was described by one political commentator and used as such as a simile for racial segregation in the 1950s as soft, exfoliating rock turns to dust under the hammer. The Park features several attractions that are operated by Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation. On summer evenings the mountain hosts the Stone Mountain Laser Show Spectacular, which uses popular and classic music to entertain park guests with a large fireworks and laser light display. The colorful lightshow of lasers project moving images of the Deep South as well as Georgia history onto the Confederate Memorial carving on the side of the mountain. The American Civil War is acknowledged, but the strength of a reunited country concludes the message, with Sandi Patti singing the Star Spangled Banner. There are still old favorites included with the show, Devil Went down to Georgia and An American Trilogy. There have been several additions to the show for its 25th anniversary. The Skyride is a Swiss-built cable car to the summit of the mountain which passes by the carving on the way up. The Riverboat offers a scenic cruise aboard a reproduction Mississippi riverboat on 363 acre (147 ha) Stone Mountain Lake. (UPDATE: The Riverboat, which used to be one of Stone Mountain Park's attractions to all guests, is now available for events only.) The Antebellum Plantation is a collection of historic buildings relocated from around the state of Georgia, including 3 plantation manor houses dating from 1794, 1850 and 1845, two slave cabins, a barn and other outbuildings. The Plantation Farmyard features historic breeds of sheep, goats and pigs that guests can pet.
Crossroads is a recreation of an 1872 southern town with several attractions including a modern 4-D movie theater, an adventure mini-golf course, a duck tour ride, stores and restaurants. Crafts demonstrators include glass blowing and candy making. Other attractions in this area include: The Great Barn is a children's activity area that features 65 interactive games, climbing structures, trampoline floors, slides and more. Sky Hike is a family ropes adventure course. Guests can choose their own path and level of challenge.

Dance is a universal language which unites us, as human beings. This language breaks through barriers of race, ethnicity, religion, and gender. It unifies us, at the most basic level, creating a global form of communication which brings us together.
As an immigrant and a dance educator, Bayer Ballet Founder & Artistic Director, Inna Bayer, shares her perspective on dance as an inclusive artform.
This is our moment to unite, recognizing the power of dance to transform lives, male and female, level socio-economic thresholds, and celebrate the gift of dance in our lives, and the positive impact it has on our communities.
BAYER BALLET - MISSION
Bayer Ballet Company, 501(c)3 public charity organization, is a community service organization committed to preserving the art and culture of the Vaganova method of classical ballet.
Artists seeking a holistic approach to the art directly experience the benefits of the Vaganova method, a scientifically based and physiologically sound methodology, which incorporates the laws of physics and bio-mechanics. This method prepares dancers with a solid foundation that allows them to be adaptable to other dance styles and choreography, creating freedom of movement to allow the dancer to grow artistically.
We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of ballet, preserving the traditions of Vaganova through a systematic approach, based on the culture and curriculum of the Vaganova method. This foundation creates impeccable artistry and creativity, awareness, mind and body, within the dancer; thereby, allowing them to adapt to various styles and learn choreography with ease.
Our mission is to enhance the cultural well-being of our community by creating equitable accessibility to the Vaganova method of international ballet through educational and interactive events and performances, which expose and explore the intricacies of this method; thereby, providing the purest experience and insights into this artform. We strive to cultivate and foster an appreciation and love for the artform, providing opportunities for emerging artists in our community to engage, educate and collaborate with world-renowned master artists, while developing an outreach program that provides accessibility to this artform to our diverse community.

Sited on a prime 2-acre lot in McLean, Virginia, one of D.C.’s most prestigious suburbs, this palace is for everyone who appreciates quality, design and style – a masterpiece built as a legacy for a modern dynasty.
Impeccable craftsmanship is the hallmark of this spectacular 8-bedroom home, spanning 20,000 square feet across three levels, and boasting every splendid amenity. Newly constructed of Italian limestone with slate roof and copper dormers, the exterior sets an impressive stage for the luxury within.

Beyond the reception area, a 2-story great room, music room and mahogany-clad library overlook the rear gardens, sparkling pool and bronze fountain. The magnificent gourmet kitchen boasts marble flooring, exotic granite and cabinetry that extends into the 2-story entertainment center in the adjoining family room.
The main level also features a handsome master bedroom suite stretching the width of the home, with sitting room overlooking the pool on one end, and luxurious bath and walk-in closet on the other. A private elevator leads to a second expansive closet and dressing room.

Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, North America
Pittsburgh is the seat of Allegheny County and with a population of 307,484 is the second-largest city in the U.S. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. With a metropolitan CSA population of 2,661,369 it is the largest in both the Ohio Valley and Appalachia and the 22nd-largest in the U.S. Pittsburgh is known as both the Steel City for its more than 300 related businesses and the City of Bridges for its world record 446 bridges. The city also features 29 skyscrapers, two inclined railways, a pre-revolutionary fortification, and the source of the Ohio at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny. This vital link of the Atlantic coast and the Mid-west cuts through the mineral-rich Alleghenies and made the Pittsburgh area coveted by the French and British empires, Virginia, Whiskey Rebels, Civil War raiders and media networks. Legendary for its steel, Pittsburgh also led innovations and industries in aluminum, glass, shipbuilding, petroleum, foods, appliances, sports, transport, computing, retail, autos and electronics. This creative wealth placed Pittsburgh third (after New York City and Chicago) in corporate headquarter jobs for much of the 20th century, second only to New York in bank assets with more stockholders per capital than any other U.S. city. America's 1980s shift from heavy industry to a service economy laid-off millions from the area's sprawling steel mills and electronics/appliances factories. The diaspora of blue collar workers was joined by thousands of white collar employees when multi-billion dollar corporate raids relocated the longtime Pittsburgh-based world headquarters of Gulf Oil, Sunbeam, Rockwell and Westinghouse. This status as a world industrial and banking center, its melting pot of industrial immigrant workers, and top 10 rank among the largest cities in the U.S. until 1950 and metros until 1980 has left the region with a plethora of internationally-regarded museums, medical centers, parks, research infrastructure, libraries and a vibrantly diverse cultural district. These legacies have helped Pittsburgh win first place as America's most livable city by Places Rated Almanac, Forbes, and The Economist while inspiring National Geographic and Today to name the city a top world destination. More tangibly, the area has added 3,304 hotel rooms since 2004 and boasts higher occupancy than 11 comparable cities such as Philadelphia and Baltimore. Google, Intel and Apple are among 1,600 tech firms generating $10.8 billion in annual Pittsburgh payrolls. Since the 1980s the city has also served as national headquarters for both federal cyber defense and robotics. The area boasts 31 non-profit universities and colleges including seven venerable universities in the city, with the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon as national leaders in R&D expenditures spurring multiple startups annually. The nation's fifth-largest bank, 9 Fortune 500s and six of the top 300 US law firms make their global headquarters in the Pittsburgh area, while RAND, BNYMellon, Nova Chemicals, Bayer, FedEx and GSK have large regional bases that helped Pittsburgh become the sixth best metro for U.S. job growth despite the global recession. Area retail and housing have also grown despite the subprime crisis with the multi-million dollar SouthSide Works, Bakery Square, and Washington's Landing repurposing former industrial sites. Pittsburgh is a leader in LEED technology, with 60 total and 10 of the world's first green buildings, including downtown's convention center, even as Shell and Chevron have invested billions in the area's energy renaissance with Marcellus shale. A renaissance of Pittsburgh's 115 year old film industry that boasts the world's first movie theater has grown from the long running 3R Film Festival to an influx of major productions including Disney and Paramount offices with the largest sound stage outside Los Angeles and New York. According to the United States Census Bureau, Pittsburgh has a total area of 58.3 square miles (151 km2), of which 55.6 square miles (144 km2) is land and 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2) (or 4.75%) is water.
