Full Time RV | Charleston South Carolina | Changing Lanes!
We were in Charleston SC near the end of April and the weather was beautiful! (with the exception of a few days of spring storms).
For the first week, we stayed about an hour outside of Charleston (in Ridgeville, SC) at a small State Park called Givhans Ferry State Park. It was a tiny but nice and clean park with about 35 sites. There wasn't a lot to do in or around this park, which was perfect for us! It was the perfect opportunity to catch up on work and to rest.
After that week, we moved into Charleston and set up camp at Lake Aire Campground. There were not too many RV parks close to the historic district and it took us about 25-30 minutes to get there from Lake Aire. While we were there, we went on a carriage tour of the historic district, went on several motorcycle rides around town and also out to Sullivan's Island, Mount Pleasant and Isle of Palms. We had to cut our trip short, to take care of a few things back in Florida, but we were able to get out to see the beautiful 400-year old Angel Oak Tree.
We also drove out to James Island County Park, where we will be staying on our trip back down South in the winter. We are really looking forward to going back there and seeing some of the sights that we didn't have to chance to this time!

Striped Pig Distillery
Striped Pig Distillery is Charleston's first distillery since Prohibition specializing in small batch, hand-crafted spirits made from the freshest, local ingredients. Stop in for a free tour and tasting and see how the spirit of Charleston is made!
The Firefly Distillery
The Firefly Distillery is the birthplace of Firefly Spirits. It is where the founders, Jim Irvin and Scott Newitt, came up with the crazy idea to build a distillery in the ‘middle of nowhere,’ and make the world’s first Sweet Tea Vodka.
That crazy idea is now a destination known for its genuine southern hospitality, fine quality spirits and innovation. The Firefly Distillery is located on Wadmalaw Island, just 30 minutes outside of Charleston, SC.
At the distillery, you will meet the ‘Firefly family’ and you can sample an array of fine spirits and get a taste of that southern hospitality at its best.
Must be 21 to follow and engage. Firefly Vodka with natural flavors 30-35% Alc/Vol; Firefly Moonshine (grain neutral spirits with natural flavors) 20.55-50.35% alc/vol; Firefly Distillery, Wadmalaw Island, SC.

Whiskey Distillery opens in Columbia
Phil and Jessica Crouch open their modest, small batch distillery in Columbia this May. The couple will be offering tastings of their Carolina White Whiskey and Carolina Raw Rye and guiding tours through the distillery.
Firefly Distillery
When you think of characteristics of the South, one of the first things many think about is sweet tea. On a small sea island off the coast of South Carolina, two guys are capitalizing on this with their wildly popular brand Firefly and signature beverage Sweet Tea Vodka. With tons of South Carolina pride and a sense of tradition, the Firefly brand is creating waves in the distilling business!

Jersey Artisan Distilling is First Distillery to Open Since Prohibition

SC Brewery Law
A new law in South Carolina will help breweries compete with restaurants.
The Stone Bill as it was nicknamed was aimed at bringing Stone Brewing Company's proposed East Coast distribution center to South Carolina. Stone has since announced SC is out of the running, but the law changes will still help local breweries already here, and those that may start.
Being able to offer food, opens possibilities even more, makes breweries in the state that much of destination, says Will McCameron, president of Brewery 85, a 6-month-old brewery in Greenville.
The law is the second in two years to help breweries. Last year's Pint Law allowed breweries to actually sell beer on premises. Now we're actually allowed to sell beer on site, which as I said helps our overhead, says McCameron.
Brewery 85 plans to open a restaurant on site, but it may be a few years before that's possible due to growth and capital requirements. We're really big supporters of local food truck community, wanna continue to support them, but like I said we'd absolutely love to future construction to have restaurant here, it's nice to have that option, says McCameron.

Kentucky and Buffalo Trace Distillery [Full Time Travel] [RV Nomad]
It was a two-day trip to get from Williamsburg, VA to Georgetown, KY. Although it rained the entire trip, it was still a beautiful drive. We stopped overnight in Staunton, VA at Walnut Hills Campground and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this park was. Unfortunately, the rain kept us from enjoying the park and our view from the site they appropriately call the Outlook.
We finally made it to Georgetown, KY and Whispering Hills Campground. Luckily, Mother Nature was kind enough to give us a brief break from the rain, so we could get hooked up and settled in. The staff and park were very nice and they had a ton of sites!! (230 of them!) The rain continued for several days, which gave us time to get caught up on work and rest.
However, we didn't let a little rain stop us from doing a bourbon distillery tour! We chose Buffalo Trace Distillery, which was only about 35 minutes from the park (plus, they make a damn good bourbon). Unfortunately, we didn't realize the popularity of their complimentary tours… the tour that we really wanted to take (Hardhat Tour) was already booked up for the entire week of our stay. We had to go with their standard tour, which was still fun. We learned about the long history at Buffalo Trace and got to sample a few of their spirits! Be sure to watch the video to find out which one was our favorite!!
Finally, the rain stopped and the sun came out, so it was time to get out for a ride!! The countryside around Georgetown was very pretty, with all of the rolling hills and vibrant greens of spring. We got out on Lucille twice, both time with no specific destination. On our second ride, we explored the downtown area of Georgetown and found a great restaurant, Local Feed. Yum!
Even though this trip has to be cut a little short due to a family emergency in North Carolina, we still enjoyed our time in Kentucky. We are looking forward to going back and exploring more of the Bourbon Trail!!

Ohio moves up to fourth largest craft beer producer in the United States
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Ohio's breweries produced almost 1.4 million barrels of beer in 2018. That's up more than 3 percent from 2017.
Ohio is now the fourth largest craft beer producer in the country, behind only Pennsylvania, California and Colorado. It's also closing in fast on having 300 craft breweries, compared to 47 at the beginning of 2012.
Three Ohio companies rank among the top 50 beer makers by volume in the nation: Great Lakes in Cleveland and Samuel Adams and Rhinegeist in Cincinnati.

Better Qualified works closely with collections attorneys to comb through all of your 3rd party collections in search of violations. When an account is sold to a 3rd party, often times the collection company will violate set regulations. This leaves the consumer paying more than they have to or paying for something that isn’t theirs. Our collection attorneys have not only gotten 3rd party and medical collections removed from our clients reports, but have also succeeded in obtaining cash settlements for some clients as well. I know, your thinking we should of went to a bourbon tour in Bourbon Country, ....but I am a brandy drinker. We learned a lot about the process! For instance, we never knew brandy was a spirit made by distilling wine. Here I have been a fancy wine drinker all along and never knew it! I feel classier already!

Soy Sauce: How One American Company Makes this Asian Ingredient - Staples, Episode 9
Bourbon Barrel Foods is a Louisville Kentucky based company that is taking a different approach to brewing soy sauce. The small batch producer makes soy sauce in bourbon barrels (of course!) by hand to help add depth to this distinct condiment. And while the efforts of owner Matt Jamie's operation has gained interest with local Louisville restaurants like Bistro 1860, even more impressive is that the company will be shipping soy sauce to Japan due to its growing popularity.
