St Anne's Church, Vienna - Annakirche, Wien - Crkva svete Ane u Beču
St. Anne's chapel existed since 1320. In 1518, the Gothic church was consecrated on the occasion of Saint Anne's Day (26 July).[1] The church was administered first by the Poor Clare Sisters, then by the Jesuits. Between 1629 and 1634, the Jesuits started the Baroquisation of the Gothic church. After a fire in 1747, Pozzo's pupil Christoph Tausch transformed it into late baroque using trompe l'oeil techniques. On 25 June 1747 lightning struck the tower of the church, burning down the roof framing but leaving intact the frescos. In 1751, Daniel Gran began the renovation of the interior, blackened by candle smoke. In 1773, the Jesuit order was dissolved. After starting to work in the church in 1897, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales received the church in 1906.
Gran's frescos were renovated in the 19th century and again in 1969–1970. The 1976 Friuli earthquake, which killed more than 2,000 people in Northeastern Italy, damaged the church. From 2003 to 2005, the Annakirche was renovated under the auspices of the Federal Monuments Office Vienna.
Architecture
Ceiling fresco depicting St. Anne, by Daniel Gran
Daniel Gran created the three ceiling frescos, the high altar painting, and the frescos in the Franz Xaver chapel. The wood-carved statue representing Saint Anne with Virgin Mary and the Christ Child dates back to 1510 and is attributed to Veit Stoss. The side altarpieces were executed by Kremser Schmidt. Christoph Tausch has responsibility for the spatial arrangement.
The organ was made by the Austrian organ builder Johann Hencke (3 December 1697 Geseke – 24 September 1766 Vienna).[5]
St. Anne's Church is famous for its frescos by Daniel Gran. The topics of the frescoes are:

St Peter's church is thought to occupy the oldest Christian sacred site and to be the first domed structure in baroque in Vienna. It is presumed that the first church stood here in the early middle ages. The present St. Peter's Church was constructed by Gabriel Montani from 1702 to 1708. The design was inspired by the St. Peter's Basilica of the Vatican in Rome. Hildebrandt, the noted architect of the Belvedere Palace, finished the building. St Peter's church has a surprisingly rich interior filled with golden stucco. The altarpiece portrays the Healing of the Lame by St. Peter and St. John in Jerusalem. Martino Altomonte (1657--1745) The fresco in the dome with dove in the centre is by J. M. Rottmayr, a detail of the dome fresco shows the Coronation of the Virgin. On top of the canope you find a representation of the holy trinity. I was told there was a free organ concert that day at 3 p.m.
From the outside the Jesuit church is not the most marked church of Vienna. The inside is dominated by gold and the warmth of colors, mainly fleshcolor and ochre, you can see it like you are inside of the building on panoramicearth.com/map/vienna.html?vt=173. On a flat part of the ceiling a remarkable fresco was executed by Andrea Pozzo in 1703, a real masterpiece using illusionary techniques: trompe l'oeil dome. During my visit students were invited to walk around and capture the most valuable in a square. One of the students choose her friend, another the clock and the third choose for the marble. They were invited to discuss their choice in groups of three. The pulpit features the Apostle Matthew.

Vienna, Austria: North of the historic city
At the northeast of the old city, in the Fleischmarkt district, there are two of the most interesting baroque churches in Vienna: Dominikanerkirche, with an italianate facade and the Jesuitenkirche. The Postsparkasse, built in 1906, is one of the main works by the austrian architect Otto Wagner. Schölaterngasse is one of the most charming streets in Vienna. Robert Schumann lived in this street. Maria Am Gestade is a gothic church from the 14th century

Wow, what a beautiful city. As a musician it's the perfect place to get inspired. Seeing the same sights and smelling the same smells that inspired some of the classic musicians such as Mozart, Beethoven Strauss and many more is an amazing feeling...Strudel anyone???
