Rome - City Video Guide
Italy's capital city, Rome was once the center of the Roman Empire and known as Caput Mundi: The Capital of the World.
The foundations of ancient Rome were laid on Palatine Hill, the city's birthplace. Below, monuments such as the Temple of Saturn and the Arch of Septimius are preserved in the Roman Forum, while the Colosseum remains the city's most enduring symbol.
Masterpieces by Bernini, Giotto, and Raphael can be seen at St. Peter's Basilica, the world's largest church, located in the grand surroundings of Piazza Saint Pietro within the Vatican City.
Once a stadium, Piazza Navona is another of Rome's great squares, now home to a trio of fountains, Baroque architecture and the aroma of Rome's best coffee. The Spanish Steps are another magnet for artists and lovers.
No visit to the 'Eternal City' is complete without making a wish at the nearby Trevi Fountain. Toss a coin into the Trevi, and one day you're sure to return to Rome.

Rome (Latin and Italian: Roma [ˈroːma] (About this soundlisten)) is the capital city and a special comune of Italy (named Comune di Roma Capitale). Rome also serves as the capital of the Lazio region. With 2,872,800 residents in 1,285 km2 (496.1 sq mi),[1] it is also the country's most populated comune. It is the fourth-most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. It is the centre of the Metropolitan City of Rome, which has a population of 4,355,725 residents, thus making it the most populous metropolitan city in Italy. Rome is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, within Lazio (Latium), along the shores of the Tiber. The Vatican City (the smallest country in the world) is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city: for this reason Rome has been often defined as capital of two states.

Love Letter to Rome | Eating and Exploring Roma
Welcome back to our final mother-daughter Italy 2019 Vlog!
We end off our amazing trip in our favourite city - ROMA! As you can probably tell from the title and video, we are so thrilled to be back in a place that we consider our second home. In this vlog, we only stayed in Rome for about 3 nights, so in comparison to when I was just in Rome in May for 10 days, we were on a bit of a time crunch. We still managed to see our favourite spots, and of course eat our favourite things (like pasta, pizza, gelato, and dessert) at our favourite places, but of course 3 nights just isn't enough for this eternal city. If you would like a more comprehensive guide to Rome you can check out my past travel vlogs, and videos, as there are many of them here. I hope you enjoy this video. I wanted to really highlight everything we love about Rome, from the food, to the people, so I hope you enjoyed watching and following along, not just in this video, but through all my mother-daughter 2019 clogs :)
If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and don't forget to subscribe to my channel, as that means so much to me. Thanks so much for watching, and until next time....

Rome is a cosmopolitan city with globally influential art, architecture and culture on display. It is also known as the Eternal city or Caput Mundi, coming from Latin and meaning capital of the world.
The city has 280 fountains and more than 900 churches. Nearly 700,000 euros worth of coins are tossed into Rome’s Trevi Fountain each year. The proceeds are donated to Caritas to help those in need.

Close-Up: Rome, Open City, 1945
In what way does a film reflect the politics of the time and place in which it was made? We started answering this question in the episode on Back to the Future (1985). Today, we explore this question further with Rome, Open City (Roma città aperta), directed by Roberto Rossellini and released to Italian audiences in 1945.
Rossellini made the film just after the German withdrawal, a couple of years after Mussolini’s death and the end of Fascism in Italy. The historical context is important because it provides an insight into what Rossellini was trying to achieve. If you are an Italian filmmaker, committed to the art form, but also to the country and its history, how do you respond to this turbulent moment in history? Rossellini used the medium of cinema to not only reconstruct Italy’s recent past under Fascism, but also its potential future.
