India: Colourful, Peaceful, Crazy. (Sights of Delhi, Agra, Kerala)
Soundtrack: Levitate (From The Original Motion Picture “Passengers”) - Imagine Dragons.
Our first trip to India (surely, not the last one) and I can totally say that I love this country! They said: Season of rains, July is the worst time to go to India they said, Get 100 vaccinations, It's dirty, it's dangerous... And here we are: 3 happy smiley kids, enjoying it to the fullest! From the first day of being there I felt how this completely new world is extending the dimensions of my mind. First, we were shocked by diversity, noise, crowd, mess and dynamics of Delhi and Agra. We (at least I) learned how to be patient and got used to it! But then we were shocked twice as much when we arrived to the considerably different environment and way of life in God's own country Kerala or, how we called it, Indian Switzerland! Breathtaking experience, full of surprises and unexpected turns (or bus trips...), kind people, trying to help you even if they can't! Beautiful landscapes, delicious food, friendly elephants, pouring rains (just 2 times, nothing, huh?), wonderful amazing unforgettable. I miss it and want to come back already! I can keep talking for hours... Conclusion: go to India during non-touristic season, accept the difference and love it!

►How to say Happy Holi in hindi -
WHAT IS HOLI ?
Holi (pronunciation: /ˈhoʊliː/; Sanskrit: होली Holī) is a spring festival in India and Nepal, also known as the festival of colours or the festival of sharing love.Holi is a two-day festival which starts on the Purnima (Full Moon day) falling in the Bikram Sambat Hindu Calendar month of Falgun, which falls somewhere between the end of February and the middle of March in the Gregorian calendar. The first day is known as Holika Dahan or Chhoti Holi and the second as Rangwali Holi, Dhuleti, Dhulandi or Dhulivandan.
It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities outside Asia.
It is primarily observed in India, Nepal, and other regions of the world with significant populations of Hindus or people of Indian origin and Nepalese diaspora. In recent years the festival has spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic, and colours.
Holi celebrations start on the night before Holi with a Holika bonfire where people gather, do religious rituals in front of the bonfire, and pray that their internal evil should be destroyed as the bonfire starts. The next morning is celebrated as Rangwali Holi - a free-for-all carnival of colours, where participants play, chase and colour each other with dry powder and coloured water, with some carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight. Anyone and everyone is fair game, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children and elders. The frolic and fight with colours occurs in the open streets, open parks, outside temples and buildings. Groups carry drums and other musical instruments, go from place to place, sing and dance. People visit family, friends and foes to throw coloured powders on each other, laugh and gossip, then share Holi delicacies, food and drinks. Some drinks are intoxicating. For example, bhang, an intoxicating ingredient made from cannabis leaves, is mixed into drinks and sweets and consumed by many.In the evening, after sobering up, people dress up and visit friends and family.
Holi is celebrated at the approach of the vernal equinox, on the Phalguna Purnima (Full Moon). The festival date, which is determined by the Hindu calendar, varies from year to year on the Gregorian calendar, typically coming in March, sometimes in February. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships, and is also celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest.

Travel India - Traditional Bangles - New Delhi
These colorful ornaments are part of a traditional as well as a modern Indian woman.
Bangles are worn around the world. In some societies, the history of bangles dates back tothousands of years. When it comes to India, it is no different. Bangles are locally called kangans, and they make an important part of Indian culture and traditions. These are circular in shape, and they are worn around the wrist like a bracelet.
Bangles come in all kinds of colors and metals, like gold, glass, plastic and wood. They can cost you from less than a dollar to thousands of dollars. Although bangles are mostly worn by women, but even men are known to wear bangles. A single bangle is rarely worn. They are worn in pairs; either on one wrist or on both. Historically, bangles are worn by Indian women as part of their traditions. A married woman is supposed to wear bangles for the healthy and long life of her husband, and right after her marriage, a woman is supposed to wear chuda for a few days. A chuda are these certain bangles. So, if you spot someone wearing these, you can make out that they have been recently married.
But, since I am not married, I will take these off. These days, more and more women wear bangles for fashion reasons, and the range of colors and designs that you see are pretty amazing. The famous sound of bangles. In fact, many Bollywood songs are based on this sound. So next time, when you watch the Bollywood movie, do look for the glittering bangles on the actress. I am Nidhi, showing you Delhi.

Kashmir is very popular for its handicrafts. And you can find those handicrafts at the Shaw Brothers in Defence Colony in Delhi. Established in the early 19th century, this place showcases a wide variety of Kashmiri art. The brother duo's company also exports shawls, carpets, jamaras, silk embroideries and other products that are made and manufactured in the Kashmir valley. In case you do not know what a shawl is, it is like a scarf but much larger, that can cover your entire body.
Traditionally, Indian women wore shawls to protect themselves from the cold but over time shawls have become a fashion accessory, in India and the West. We are more known for the shawls than carpets. Carpets you can say we are new, it just only third or fourth generation in carpets. We are on twelve generations in shawls.
Shawls made out of Pashmina are the most expensive and are very prestigious. Pashimina fabric is made out of the Himalayan goat. It is very soft and very warm, even as compared to cashmere. Weaving a shawl is like developing a poem. An artisan does it according to the mood. Here you can find a wide variety, ranging from ancient to contemporary.
You can see shawls like 400 year old pieces, pieces worn by royal kings or princesses. And you can see new, modern, funky shawls. Here we have a shawl from the Sikh era, which is the quite recent past, a 160-170 year old piece. And these used to be the original length of the shawls rather than the new shawls which are one meter or two meter. The shawls are made manually, keeping all the detailing in mind.
Plain real Pashimina shawls, something like this, will take roughly 7 to 8 days. When it comes to embroideries and weaves, embroideries can take from one month to roughly twelve years of time on a shawl. Same is true about the weave. Weave takes roughly 20-25 days to five years, six years of time. You can see shawls which are 4,000 rupees onwards to 40 lakh-rupee. So something like this, in international market the value would be roughly like $40,000, $45,000.
Also, one cannot leave aside the hand made, hand knotted carpets that incorporate intricate designs. The art of carpet making has been inspired by the Persian and the Turkish traditions. So next time if you want to feast your eyes on these exquisite Kashmiri crafts, check out Shaw Brothers. Even if you do not want to buy anything but just have a look at them. This is Ena, showing you Delhi.

New Delhi Hyperlapse: It's been exactly a year that I moved to Delhi from Bangalore. But all this time, I never really got a chance to go out and fall in love with the city until lately. Last one month was spent making this video. From the ancient city of Indraprastha to the seven cities during Muslim rule and now to the Lutyen’s Delhi, Delhi has seen thousands of years of being a capital. And years from now, no matter how we humans do as a species, Delhi will remain alive in some form.
