RV Travel Life | A Bear Baiter in Grand Teton National Park
On 5/22/2017 We were camped at Colter Bay RV Park located inside the Grand Teton National Park. We reported the incident to National Park Service Law Enforcement and they handled the case. We were able to give law enforcement the footage of the suspect dumping the fish.
Bears are very intelligent carnivorous mammals that reside in abundantly in this area. Since 2006 they have had to Destroy, meaning kill, 6 bears in this park due to humans feeding them and then they go in search of the food. When they find more people with food, they can become aggressive and attack in order to get the food that they want. We were very concerned about this because the previous night, the same gentleman was cooking a steak and the bear walked up to him. The Bear was identified as Brutus. The gentleman placed the fish in the same location he saw the bear. This is not only baiting bears, we saw the clever fox take most of the fish just in the time the park ranger was speaking to him. This gentleman literally put everyone's lives in danger in the campground by doing this. Normally we would have just ignored such ignorant behavior but this was becoming a dangerous situation for people, pets, and children.

RV Travel Life | Grand Tetons to Yellowstone
Our Trip from Grand Teton National Park (Colter Bay RV Park) to West Yellowstone (Grizzly RV Park) was pretty neat. We decided to not use our GPS as both the Garmin and Rand McNally we have said that we needed to go south and then all the way around the two parks to get to West Yellowstone. We read several articles about big rigs on US 191 North to West Yellowstone from Grand Tetons and they said that the roads were fine. They were correct. The only minor issues we faced were people stopping to take pictures but it only happened twice. This was on Memorial Day Weekend, the busiest for the two parks. The drive took us 2.5 hours total, and we even missed our turn and added about 20 minutes. If you are hesitant about this route, we are confident in saying you should go for it. We had a great time and got to see the park to help plan our visit!

Colter Bay Village Campground and RV Park in Grand Teton National Park near Moran Wyoming offers 350 primitive RV and tent camping sites and 112 full hookup RV camping sites in a wooded setting near Colter Bay and Jackson Lake. The two camping areas are distinctly different. The full hookup RV park provides RVs with water, electric and sewer connections in a shaded setting tightly packed in to rows. Large RVs can access this area but caution is warranted due to the many trees and tight turns. View tour 360 VR tour to see each site and get a feel for the different rows.
The campground is more of a standard National Park Service style camping area with multiple camping loops, tent and RV sites and a bit more separation in some areas. All sites are primitive except for a few ADA electric sites (additional fee applies). Paved roads with gravle parking pads each site ha sa picnic table and fire ring. Bear boxes are located throughout the grounds but not at every site. A number of the sites are pull-thru style were you park parallel to the roadway.
Both camping areas have restrooms situated throughout, both provide walking access down to the Bay, paths to the village and hiking trails through the area. Advanced reservations are strongly encouraged for the RV park due to the popular nature of this location BUT the campground is available only on a first come first served basis.
None of the sites afford any scenic vistas due to the heavy timber. Operated by a concessionaire. A dump station is available in the campground along with water fill. Showers are available for an additional fee at the Colter Bay Village Launderette.
