Full day Thai Food Cooking Class in Northern Thailand
When in Northern Thailand we signed up the Thai Cooking Class at our homestay in Chiang Rai with Ann our host.
It was a full day of shopping, chopping and cooking which lasted from around 9.30am until past 4pm. We had a great time and produced some really tasty dishes with Ann's help. The best thing was it was just the 2 of us so no sharing the kitchen with other, perfect.

Hairy Bikers Asian Adventure Ep3 includes Chiang Dao, Northern Thailand
Start of Chiang Dao Part:
Start of Northern Thailand Part:
The second half the Bikers travel to Northern Thailand where they visit Chiang Mai (aided by K. Ann's excellent culinary knowledge), then go elephant riding / communing in Mae Taeng / Mae Taman.
Finally they head to a picturesque tribal mountain village (Lisu), Ban Na Lao Mai in Chiang Dao. Lisu locals Alema, Nata (blink and you'll miss him), Sam, Sam's Wife, all feature. Wicha from Chiang Dao Nest ( ) also appears briefly in the Lisu village segment.
Pretty much all of the footage of the bikers riding on mountainous / forested roads was filmed in the Chiang Dao area. This is dotted about throughout the program.
Unfortunately a part where the Bikers are filmed emerging from their cabins and enjoying a rice soup breakfast at Chiang Dao Nest 2 (where they stayed) didn't make it into the final edit. Oh well, maybe it'll appear in the directors cut!
(The first half of this episode sees the bikers head to Southern Thailand beaches in Phuket with K. Mom Tri, and then onto Koh Yao Noi.)
Program first aired: BBC2 Thursday 27th Feb 2014 (filmed July 2013)

Stéphane Calvert, Executive Chef at Four Seasons Chiang Mai, talks to us about traditions of Northern Thai cooking. He takes us on a tour of their aromatic herb garden, and to Rim Tai Kitchen, a Thai cooking school, where Chef “An” Anchalee Luadkham prepares Gaeng Hang Lay Gai Korat. This is a Northern Thai chicken ginger curry dish typically served on special occasions, such as weddings and holidays.

Thailand VLOG 6 Part 1: Smile Organic Farm Cooking School
Day 06 // April 11, 2017 // Smile Organic Cooking School
Follow what I am up too
Kim's Instagram
** For the second adventure in Chiang Mai, we four decided to take a class in cooking. Chiang Mai is known to be one of the best places to learn the local Thai dish. So this was a no-brainer, we had to do it! Luckily, we found Smile Organic Farm Cooking School to help us learn how to cook haha. Ann, our teacher, was phenomenal from start to finish! She picked us up in the morning at our hotel, then took us to the local market where she gave us insights of different ingredients that makes Thai dishes so special. We then drove to the school where she explained what we will cook and showed us all the ingredients we will use from the garden. (Viet and I end up taking some green chili there). During our downtime, Viet and I decided to have a little challenge and let's say we regretted it haha. All the dishes that we made were all very good and the plus of it all...she gave us all cookbooks to recreate all of the dishes in the future! I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn how to cook and/or have something to do while they are in Chiang Mai, Thailand. **

ABOUT ME:
I am by no mean a Chef, but food and cooking have always been a very important part of my life. When I was a kid, my parents were owning a streetfood stall and right after school I was always running there to help them cook and serve the customers.
I have also learned a loooot with my granny, who taught me how to cook traditional Thai food since... well, since forever I believe !

MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE PLACE IN CHIANG MAI? | TRAVEL VLOG #35
On our 6 anniversary we decided to jump on the scooter and go for a ride to the Baan Kang Wat Market – a place we'd never been before and that we've never heard anyone talk about.
The Baan Kang Wat Market is only a 15 minute drive south of Chiang Mai, but we were some of the only westerners there. We were really positively surprised and I could not stop taking pictures! The Baan Kang Wat market may very well be one of the most Instagrammable places in Chiang Mai.
There is no entry fee, and it's a really nice place to spend an hour or two out of the city. We highly recommend the ice cream!

Hi there! I'm Anne-Li – Danish girl, globetrotter, travel vlogger, blogger and digital nomad traveling the world with my partner in crime and long-term boyfriend Mathias. Spending a month in Budapest every summer taught us that traveling does not have to be expensive and that slow travel is the way to go – for us. We have been traveling full-time since September 2016, and we usually base ourselves in one place for at least a month or two. This way of traveling is not only budget friendly – it also means that we can take our time and really explore and enjoy the place we're in. We eat local food, shop at local markets, meet local people and enjoy experiencing different cultures – all the while seeking out the best wifi and exploring everything there is to explore. Everyday is another adventure, and we’d love for you to be part of it!

Thai Akha Kitchen - Market Tour - Cooking School - Chiang Mai
When you’re in Thailand, you’ll find that it divides itself into two between the tourist spots and the traditional Thai areas.
Thai Akha Kitchen will take you to the Local Market to see the real lifestyle of local people where you can all the same produce, at all different prices. We call this “same same, but different”!
At the Local Market, you will be treated like a local person, no special treatment to gain profit for tourists here!
Thai markets are very different to western markets, so get ready for some interesting experiences.
All of the produce we will be using will come fresh from the local market.
