Nieuw Amsterdam Ship Tour (Holland America Line 2019)
A tour of Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam in September 2019. This deck by deck walk will highlight each of the features onboard the cruise ship.
This ship debuted in 2010 and currently sails the Caribbean in the wintertime and Alaska during the summers.
Sister to the Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam is one of two Signature-class ships with Holland America Line.
The Vista-class (Noordam, Oosterdam, Westerdam, and Zuiderdam) were built before the Signature-class, and then the Pinnacle-class came along in 2016 (Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam).
This is also the first class of ship to get the Asian-fusion venue Tamarind. This specialty dining restaurant is located on the 11th floor of the ship.
There are two pools that are located on deck nine. The midship pool has a retractable roof which makes it perfect in inclement weather and when sailing in Alaska during those chilly days. The aft pool on deck nine is on an open deck surrounded by two hot tubs.

Nieuw Amsterdam: Balcony/Verandah Cabin Tour (Holland America)
We sailed on the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam to Alaska in May of 2019.
Our Category V balcony stateroom -- which Holland America calls a Verandah -- was located on Deck 6 mid-ship on the port side, or left side. The room could accommodate 3 people. Our room included two single beds that were converted to one queen-sized bed and a couch that was converted nightly into a sofa bed for our little JellyBean.

In this video, we get a taste for the Manhattan Dining Room, Explorer's Lounge and Bar, Pinnacle Bar, Pinnacle Grill, Le Cirque, Casino Bar, Piano Bar, Ocean Bar, Lido Restaurant, Canaletto Restaurant and Tamarind; all onboard the Holland America Line ship. ~
Nieuw Amsterdam: Lido Market Buffet Food Tour (Holland America)
The Lido Market Restaurant Buffet on the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam is located on Deck 9 Aft, toward the back of the ship. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks and serves a wide variety of foods.
The Distant Lands station features dishes from around the world, such as crepes, sushi, and pasta. The Homestead station features traditional buffet items. The Wild Harvest station features made-to-order omelets in the morning and made-to-order salads at other times. The Breadboard station features many varieties of grains and a carving station. And the Sweet Spot station features a large selection of desserts.
Signs posted in the Distant Lands station indicated gluten-free items are available upon request.

A Transatlantic Crossing Aboard the SS Nieuw Amsterdam!
Here's some spectacular 8mm color footage of a crossing aboard one of my all time favorite ships, Holland America Line's SS Nieuw Amsterdam of 1938. Great shots of life aboard the ship, those weird horseshoe shaped life rings, and more. Music is Holiday Funfair by Dolf Van Der Linden and His Orchestra. Any help guessing at the year would be appreciated. Bon Voyage!

Station NIEUW AMSTERDAM is het minst relevante station van Amsterdam #irrelevantestations
Station Nieuw Amsterdam ligt, ondanks wat de naam doet vermoeden, ver buiten Amsterdam. Het is namelijk een dorpje in Drenthe met zo'n 7000 inwoners. Het station ligt aan de spoorlijn Zwolle - Emmen waar Arriva onder de naam Blauwnet rijdt. Dagelijks maken er tussen de 500 en 1000 mensen gebruik van het station.
Nederland kent veel drukke stations midden in dicht ontwikkelde gebieden. Maar toch zijn er een aantal stations die in een wat minder drukke omgeving liggen. Stations die voor de winst van de NS niet relevant zijn. Maar vaak zijn dit pareltjes van stations. Ik ga langs deze stations en ben op zoek naar wat het station irrelevant maakt.
