Delhi, India is a true CURRY HEAVEN, and we traveled here to go for this DEEP Street Food tour of Old Delhi! The Food Ranger (Trevor James) is in India eating Street Food! This walk through Old delhi truly was an AMAZING STREET FOOD ADVENTURE with delicious curry, amazing restaurants, and with so much tasty and UNIQUE Indian food recipes for our huge Indian dinner.
If you love eating street food around the world and street food in India, or even all over Asia, you will love the street food in Old Delhi. You can find street food everywhere, where everyone seems to cook delicious Indian recipes for curry and SPICY dishes all over the street.
In one day in old Delhi, India, we had 7 delicious street foods all made in the halal style.
We started out the day with an AMAZING ramadan experience at the largest Mosque in Delhi, Jama Masjid. We picked up a ton of different Indian street foods to bring to the mosque and break the fast with all the locals. We shared the delicious food, and then went back to the streets of Old Delhi to try more food.
The first food we had on our street food tour was the Delhi Fried Chicken, DFC, covered in Indian spices like masala and mustard. It was extremely JUICY and PLUMP!!!
Afterwards, we tried more BBQ chicken and then went for a nice Indian dinner cooked by one of the locals in Old Delhi. His family recipes were passed down to him and his food was legendary! We ate Indian Chicken Biryani and chicken korma curry along with Buffalo Korma along with Kameeri Roti! It was absolutely delicious!
After this, we went to the LEGENDARY Changezi chicken joint that invented the recipe for this juicy and flavour packed chicken curry dish!
To finish of the day, we went for some delicious BBQ Seekh Kebabs, extremely flavourful!!
The addresses for these street food restaurants in Old Delhi, India, are found on the main street below Jama Masjid, Old Delhi, India.

INDIA Joins PAKISTAN | Street Food Tour | Food without Borders | Delhi Karachi Food Street
Collaborating with our friend Anubhav Sapra from Delhi Food Walks was really fun with whom we went 71 years back in time and experienced the shared history that Indian and Pakistani cuisine have. From finding the same popular dishes to family members running restaurants on both sides of the border we came to find both our countries having the same culture and cuisine, showing the bond of love that people on both sides share. This experience made us realize that we are more alike than we are portrayed.

Indian Street Food in Old Delhi - Shockingly Delicious KULLE FRUIT CHAAT!
For more Delhi street food and other delicious food check out
Old Delhi is an excellent place to search out incredible Delhi street food, and within the ancient lanes and busy walkways are numerous stalls serving amazing treats. One of those speciality items which I couldn't miss when I was visiting, was something known as kulle chaat, also known as fruit chaat from Hira Lal Chaat Wala. Chaat is the name for an Indian snack, most of the time it's savory, and it's often eaten as a light meal or just as an afternoon delight.
Just a five minute walk from the Chawri Bazar metro station in Delhi, is a Delhi street food stall that will immediately attract you. At Hira Lal Chaat Wala, the potato patties sit on the middle of the griddle all day slowly sizzling while continuing to soak up the delicious flavors that everything else fried contributes to. The sight alone, and the bright colors of the stall are enough to make one stop. But written in a small sign above the store you'll find something known as kulle chaat, or fruit chaat. This speciality Delhi street food is something you should never miss, it's absolutely incredible!
Kulle chaat begins with whatever fruit happen to be in season. In my case I got a tomato, cucumber, mandarin orange, and a potato. All the fruits were cut in half and hollowed out so they were like fruit cups. The vendor then expertly filled this little Delhi street food cups full of a combination of sulfur salt, lime juice, masala spices, boiled chickpeas, and finally some pomegranate seeds to top things off. The amazing combination is a stunning mixture of flavors that go so well together.
Standing on the side of the main Chawri Bazar road while listening to the rowdy traffic go by, I had my first sample of kulle fruit chaat. I didn't know if it would be a good idea to add the entire thing to my mouth or to take it in bites, so I added the entire thing to my mouth. It was a sensational explosion of spices and flavors that was enlivened by the sulfur salt and lime juice. It was truly a special and remarkable flavor and taste combination. Kulle fruit chaat was easily one of the most amazing Delhi street food snacks that I ate during my entire visit to the city. The tomato and the mandarin orange were particularly delicious. I think that perhaps the mixture works the best with sour or acidic fruits or vegetables. If you ever visit Delhi, take a walk down Chawri Bazar and locate Hira Lal Chaat Wala for kulle fruit chaat.

One of the BEST Restaurants I ate at in New Delhi, India - Bhape Da Hotel
North Indian food is characterized by rich curries and breads. While in New Delhi, I ate at Bhape Da Hotel, a restaurant that was one of my favorites. More about New Delhi in my guide:
Karims Restaurant may be one of the most famous dining establishments in all of Delhi, and it was delicious, but I didn't think it was as good as Bhape Da Hotel. I originally found this restaurant by searching this website and since I was heading to Connaught Place, I decided I needed to stop in this legendary eater to sample some North Indian food in New Delhi, India. Bhape Da Hotel is just about everything I look for in a restaurant, there's a crowd of men standing outside, it's small and homey, it's hot and stuffy, and there's little conversation from diners, all the talk and shouting only comes from order food and from the staff - diners are silent enjoying the moment.
Again, I had little idea of what North Indian food to order when I arrived, so I asked the owner, what dishes he recommend and without hesitation he mentioned the saag mutton (or mutton sag, saag gosht). You may be familiar with the famous Indian food of palak paneer which is paneer cheese in a spinach puree curry blend. Saag is another name for palak, or spinach, and this dish was similar except instead of paneer cheese it was replaced with a huge chunk of mutton - that's what I'm talking about! I also ordered the chicken curry, and a stack of freshly cooked tandoori rotis which are very similar to thinner and slightly crispy naan breads. The food is all prepared already, so when you order they just dish the luscious curries out the pots and deliver them to your table with haste. The aroma was almost too much to handle, the food was calling my name.
Both the dishes arrived to my table and I was ready to dig in. At Bhape Da Hotel, I started things off by breaking bread and dipping it into the thick saag mutton gravy; It was heavenly. Then I took to the bone, and the mutton literally just slid off the bone with ease, the meat dripping with the saag sauce and plenty of oil. Then I sampled the chicken curry, which was equally rich and superbly flavored with an array of spices. Both of the North Indian food curries I enjoyed at Bhape Da Hotel restaurant in New Delhi, India, were outstanding and I would gladly take another pilgrimage there just to eat them. They were both extremely rich and oily, but they sure are worth it every now and then.

21 Things To Do In Delhi, India (नई दिल्ली)
For many more things to do in Delhi, where to stay, and delicious food to eat, check out my Delhi Travel Guide: (click the link)!
Delhi, India, (नई दिल्ली) is the national capital of the country and has a metropolitan population of around 22 million residents. The city is ancient, it's been around since the 6th century BC so there are many historical and cultural places to visit. That's specifically why I created this list of 21 things to do in Delhi, to help you plan and get excited about visiting Delhi, India.
1. The Lotus Temple (Bahá'í House of Worship) - The temple is in the shape of a giant lotus and on the inside is a peaceful sanctuary where you can enter and sit in silence for as long as you like.
2. ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple - I had never seen a temple like this before, so it as an interesting experience to hear the music and walk around the interior of the temple.
3. Kalkaji Mandir Hindu Temple - This temple is a very important Hindu temple in Delhi and while I was there, there were a number of babies being dedicated by being decorated and blessed.
4. Jama Masjid - Located in Old Delhi, Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in all of Delhi. Though they will attempt to get money from you, it's free to enter the mosque, but if you want to take photos inside they will charge you 300 rupees.
5. Akshardham Temple - This modern Hindu temple located on the outskirts of Delhi literally made my jaw drop, it's that amazing. It's free to enter, but unfortunately, they don't allow any photography inside. This is one of the things to do in Delhi that you cannot afford to miss!
6. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (Sikh Temple) - Unlike some other sites in Delhi where you'll find many touts and hustlers, the Gurdwara Sikh Temple is about the nicest and most friendly place you can go in Delhi. People are extremely nice and you can enter the temple to listen to music.
7. Laxmi Narayan Mandir -- Dedicated by Mahatma Gandhi, this is one of the most significant Hindu temples in Delhi.
8. Hauz Khas Complex - I'm always amazed at the history of Delhi and Hauz Khas is an excellent example of ancient monuments in the middle of a public park.
9. Lodi Gardens - As a free entrance public park, visiting the Lodi Gardens is one of the most amazing things to do in Delhi. It's just like an ordinary park, but it's filled with thousand year old tombs and monuments that are truly inspirational.
10. India Gate - The war memorial is one of the landmarks of Delhi and resembles the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
11. Jantar Mantar - The Jantar Mantar complex is a compound that houses 13 different astronomy instruments. The structures are confusing to look at, but if you read or follow a guide (or audio guide) you'll understand how each instrument functioned.
12. Qutub Minar - Just like Akshardham Temple, Qutub Minar is one of the top things to do in Delhi, it's truly remarkable. The minaret is the main attraction, a huge pillar of red carved sandstone that towers above the ancient ruins in the complex.
13. Humayun's Tomb - One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Delhi is Humayun's Tomb, built in Mughal Islamic architecture.
14. Tomb of Safdarjung - Very similar to Humayun's tomb is the tomb of Safdarjung. What I really liked is that there were no other tourists the day I went so it was quite and peaceful.
15. Red Fort - Located near Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi is the Red Fort. It's an entire walled in city where you can walk around the browse the many buildings within the walls.
16. Raj Ghat - The Raj Ghat is a memorial park dedicated to Gandhi.
17. Chandni Chowk & Chawri Bazar - The liveliest and busiest area of Delhi is Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar. I think it's possible to purchase anything from the entire world in this area, and you'll also find lots of delicious food.
18. Dilli Haat - This handicraft village was set up by the Delhi tourism authority and it's a decent place to purchase souvenirs or high quality crafts. You'll also find a food court that contains canteens serving food from all over India.
19. Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk) - Known for short as just CP is a huge series of roundabouts and is the central modern business district of Delhi. Within the area you'll find all sorts of shops, famous restaurants and the Palika Bazar, an underground shopping center.
20. Paharganj (Main Bazar) - The main bazar is located just west of the New Delhi railroad station and it's an old area of town where you'll find a market and lots of budget accommodation options.
21. Delhi Street Food - Eating street food is one of the best things to do in Delhi, you'll love it.
