Living in Englewood Florida - Best Place to Live by the Beach - Island Girl Homes
Englewood, FL - Why it's the best place to live in Florida if you like beaches, golf, boating, fishing, tennis, hiking, nature walks, biking, fine dining, and arts and culture.
The Englewood Beach area is so lovely that two counties – Charlotte and Sarasota along Florida’s Gulf Coast – insist on sharing in its beauty. Englewood’s uncrowded beach is pure and wide and has excellent facilities. The beaches are a fantastic place for shelling and finding sharks’ teeth. Golf is another past time you will have no problem finding courses all around. For those looking for nature – walking trails abound, along with bike clubs or grab the paddleboard or kayak and you will not be disappointed. Don’t forget your camera – to catch the birds and wildlife. Want to get a little more wild, you can try parasailing or rent a jetski. The area fishing also is outstanding. Great charter captains are available for hire as well. Take an eco-tour of Lemon Bay. You’ll almost certainly see dolphins, manatees, and all kinds of shorebirds and wildlife.
Don’t forget the AMAZING fishing, including Tarpon fishing in Boca Grande, which is known as “The Tarpon Fishing Capital of the World”.
You will love our laid back lifestyle but easy access to all the services you need and want.
A few of the free services I offer are: an area tour- not sure what area you will find your fit – I can help. We might even enjoy finding a few sharks teeth along the way! Want to learn more about the water and canal systems – let’s hop on board and I will take you on the boat for a tour on the water.
Let me help you find your piece of paradise…

Flight 73 Placida - Stump Pass - landing Gasperilla Bch
2016-09-24
Placida - Stump pass - Gasperilla Beach
Flight 73
Flight time 00:57
PIC 66:35
Allup wt. 275 lbs.
Wx: Thunderstorm approaching
Wind/Temp: 27006/87
I was in need of flight time having been three weeks since my last. Couldn't get myself up that morning but combined my wife's desire to watch a beach sunset with a needed flight.
When I moved down to the 26m APCO Lift I adjusted and cut the lines without margin for farther adjustment. Noticing the brakes line is a short piece leading to a group of lines, I cut the stabilo line about the same length and sewed a loop. Then added the smallest paracord I had laying around and also sewed a loop. Connecting the two together though needing adjustment. I also sewed a loop in each end of my Speedbar lines on the riser replacing the knot at one end. Adjusted and re-installed the Speedbar.
Haven't received all parts to sew together a kiting harness as yet so I hand kited once at the field and made stabilo line adjustments. Preflight planning showed the thunderstorms developing in place or moving NE. That didn't jive with the monster that was approaching from the NE to my SW LZ which caused me concern having lines to adjust, Speedbar to deal with and hadn't flown in three weeks. I almost called it.
Wind was light and shifty as I would expect. Failed my first launch and the second wasn't much better though I caught and stabilized it so, throttle up. A bit on the turbulent side but not as bad as the last flight to Gasperilla beach. after departure I checked the storm distance and decided to go trim open giving me another 6 mph. Maintaining level flight with 6200 rpm, sweet. Well I adjusted the Speedbar to short and couldn't get my foot in the loop, which was pinned under my seat though it wasn't engaging the speed system.
Nothing like a challenging and pleasant flight to relieve mental pressure. To me the computer is a black hole of time but rewarding to pass along information that might help or clarify an aspect of the sport. I'm also building a training syllabus, using knowledge and experience gained from my commercial pilot and PPG activities.
Most everyone waved as I flew down the beach in the slightly bumpy air. The thunderstorm did it's best to catch me but it ran out of lift and shit itself.
I suggested the wife bring some survey tape for wind direction next because the wind was light and hard to determine direction. Also I need to settle on a definitive spot to land before doing so spontaneously. Next time I'll land closer to the beach line, keeping my equipment with us, so as not to worry while enjoying the sunset.
All in All a flight that brought out many smiles.

Flight 81 Little Gasparilla to Stump Pass

Flight 81
Flight time 01:07
PIC 73:36
Allup wt. 275 lbs.
Wx: clear
Wind/Temp: 200/09 88F
Pilots:
Jeremy Tyler
Guest: Paul Robinson
Paul decided to add to his workout with another kiting session having kited that morning. I arrived about 17:20 and Paul shortly thereafter. It was rewarding to see the instruction given and Paul's muscle memory develop. Paul had a couple nice saves, the beginnings of rodeo kiting. Once muscle memory is trained he can move to free hand kiting then reverse takeoff practice followed by forward launches.
Though we flew yesterday, Jeremy was available to fly Friday and it was time for him to see the other sites in the area. Jeremy arrived after 18:00 and I was ready to cool off. Saying adios to Paul we departed for the North inlet of Gasperilla Island. Followed the shoreline North to Stump Pass. Lots of beautiful sites and waving. A little foot dragging some high spd hugging the ground turns and touch and goes.
As you will see in the vid, Mother nature or the county expanded the North side of Stump Pass beach with plenty of room to land.
I performed several touch and goes. On my first one, at Stump Pass, the wing unloaded on takeoff. I know the ground wasn't level and I expect the wing to unload when performing my carrier landings, I must hv let it get ahead of me either way I saved it and had to crank right avoiding shooting out low over the water without wing speed. Jeremy had a workout after dropping the wing on the beach. I forgot what went wrong on the first attempt then a stick got caught in the second. He stayed with it clearing the lines and performed a nice fwd. I think it's in the vid.
It was getting late, so we took the shortcut returning to the LZ. Staying abreast of places to land and airport traffic. I even considered landing on the roof of one set of buildings. Another landing zone with water on the windy side and buildings on the downwind side, reminds me of a paragliding competition landing zone in Mexico.
I wasn't sure how fast Jeremy's wing was so on the return I put let the trimmers out and Jeremy said he had a little more if needed. That's gud to know when making headway into the wind. Though based on my rough calculations in previous flights the higher fuel burn in reflex is offset by the increase in spd. Time to do a spd ck with the smaller APCO Lift and a more exact fuel burn btwn reflex and neutral trim.
Arriving at the LZ, I spiraled down rolling out on short final performing my standard power carrier landing followed within seconds by Jeremy swooping in. Good piloting. We both enjoyed a cold Arizona Green tea...... The End

Island Hopping Is A Must In Fort Myers Beach
Unlike the gridlocked hustle of sister cities Tampa and Miami, Fort Myers Beach is the gem on the Gulf that still has the magic of a Florida long forgotten elsewhere. It's the kind of view you're convinced you need a passport to see until the windows of the car roll down crossing over the Matanzas Pass Bridge onto Estero Blvd. In the mid-morning sun, the salted fresh scent wakes you up to the kind of American island you really can still find.
Here on Fort Myers Beach on Estero Island in Southwest Florida, there are as many families in the seven-mile surf as there are couples, newlyweds to retirees. We spent a long weekend at the Pink Shell Resort in September 2019, and planned your perfect day in Fort Myers at the best beaches and locations we could fit into a long weekend. There are always things to do here for day trips on the surrounding islands of Sanibel Island and Captiva Island, click here to jump to digest below.
Island hopping, shelling, and eco-tours
You're here in Florida, grab that lovely continental Pink Shell Resort breakfast and get outside. If you love deep sea fishing, book one of the local fishing charters in town to catch your own dinner. Not in the mood to fish? Book a trip with EcoVenture Florida where Captain Matt Hetrick and First Mate Lauren will guide you through a true island hopping adventure. We coasted around the famous Sanibel Lighthouse and anchored at our own private little beach for shelling on the gorgeous Costa Cayo. The seashells are shades of reds and pinks, and some are as big as your face.
If you thought you needed to leave America to find white sand beaches and clear crystal water year-round, it's all right here in the United States' coastline on the Gulf of Mexico. We saw dolphins, manatees, fevers of rays, and one incredible sea turtle in our time with Captain Matt, but he asked me to say that seeing all those in one day is incredibly lucky. Ol' Captain Matt is a modest guy.
Water sports, parasailing, and paddle boarding
If you're not in the mood for a boat ride, head out to the Pink Shell's beach resort zone where you can start your morning ocean kayaking or paddle boarding in the gentle surf. The serene view from the room each morning is all the convincing you need to feel the mild saltwater on your toes. Take a short waverunner course and grab the jet ski views of the boardwalk from the ocean. Bike around Lovers Key State Park, the one place every guest at the resort raved about. We didn't get to make it here, but learned it's a popular spot for lovers of all ages to take sweet photos.
Downtown Fort Myers
The Edison & Ford Winter Estates are a must-see for any kind of traveler, particularly those botanical garden lovers! These vacation homes of first Thomas Edison's family, followed by Henry Ford's family later, are preserved with the original knickknacks and science center, including the working laboratory. Mina Edison is responsible for the exotic and blossoming flora on the estates and she is the true patron saint of Fort Myers. The history of the city, once a popular cattlemen stop, begins with the Edisons arriving and rebuilding the dock. The Royal Palms lining the Edison's estate roads are just one of the legacies left behind.
Fort Myers & Sanibel Island
If you're looking to escape somewhere gorgeously serene with more activities than you could possibly fit into one week, Fort Myers Beach is the spot for you. This barrier island gem is budget-friendly, pet-friendly, and impossibly clean, a nod to the high eco-standards Lee County holds itself to. The next time you want to escape somewhere south, just remember that you need to go as far as Key West to find white sand perfection. Fort Myers Beach is Florida's Florida, the kind you're looking for.
