England should be visited at least once by both young and old
Travel to England
Planning a visit to England makes good sense, as its an excellent base from which to explore Europe. You can't experience the culture and sites of the whole of England in just one trip, but it is the one place that certainly features on every travellers itinerary.
Our travel guide showcases Englands many different faces. We will help you find all the interesting places to see in England, and provide information about tourist attractions and things to do.
London is the capital of England and is Englands biggest city. Tourism in England has great contrast. England has buzzing city life, yet lonely landscapes; traditional customs, yet ultramodern culture; exquisite beaches, and craggy mountains.
Whether youre on a cultural sightseeing tour, or want to enjoy a night out on the town, London has everything to make your tour a fulfilling experience.
There are many historic buildings, cathedrals and landmarks. Some of the most exciting places to visit include Lake District, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London (home to the Crown Jewels), Stonehenge, Alton Towers, The Roman Baths, the Temple of Sulis Minerva, and Windsor Castle.
Other chief attractions that might take your fancy are the Oxford and Cambridge universities, the London Palladium and the London Coliseum (just two of many famous theatres in London), Londons Madam Tussauds Wax Museum, and the industrial cities of Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester.
You can visit England any time of the year, but the best month is September when the weather is fair, and England is less crowded with tourists, but be sure to still take an umbrella and a waterproof jacket, especially when visiting London.
The most popular sports in England are football and cricket, and if youre lucky, you might get to watch a live game or match while there. For the more adventurous, England also offers hang gliding, paragliding, and rock climbing.
You can save time and money by using our travel guide to help you to identify what it is that you would best like to do and see in England.
Oxford Cambridge Boat Race 2003 - The Greatest Race
2003 was a momentous race for a number of reasons. It was the first time that the Race had been scheduled for a Sunday, though on one previous occasion (1984) a postponed race was held on a Sunday. It was also only the second time ever and the first for 103 years that the crew announcement included brothers (the Livingston's, David for Oxford and James for Cambridge) rowing against each other. This brotherly rivalry was recounted in the book Blood Over Water. Most remarkably the verdict was 1 foot.

Max Clifford takes us through the last 45 years of his career.
He talks about leaving school with no qualifications at 15, getting a job as a junior reporter at 17 and because he played water polo all over the country he got to know the sports editor of the South London News Group.
He started a record column in the late 50's just before the huge music boom and was head hunted by EMI when he was 19. He launched The Beatles and started the Public Relations industry. He expresses how much of an exciting time it was working with these amazing artists.
He goes on to talk about the very fruitful cross-fertilisation that happens between celebrity and products using Simon Cowell and Rolls Royce as an example. Making sure that Simon is always seen getting out of a Rolls Royce when he does X-Factor is mutually beneficial for both parties due to the public's perception of both parties.
Max was also responsible for falsifying all of the allegations made against Robert Murak during the height of the Madeline McCann investigation. He touch on phone hacking, suing Rupert Murdoch and the Leveson Enquiry.
The conclusion is that the masses must have protection from the onslaughts of the media and that ways of obtaining information on people can be justified. It's important to have a free press but also a responsible press.
Filmed on 7th November 2012

Primary Science - Classroom Organisation
This video considers different organisational strategies for teaching science in the primary classroom. These include managing whole class introductions and practical investigations as well as different types of group work. Advantages and disadvantages of each organisation are presented. Viewers are encouraged to think about how to choose the most appropriate strategy.
The video particularly focuses on the need for organisation before a lesson and how the teacher might optimise the learning and assessment of the children during the activities. The video is illustrated with a variety of classroom examples.
Types of Organisation
1: Whole Class - Introduction, practical activity, sharing science books, demonstration, drawing the lesson together
2: Group Work - Groups doing different practical activities, circus of different activities, one group only doing science
Think about - Making the lesson relevant and stimulating. What needs to be done before the lesson. What equipment is available. How can it be organised. The childrens experience of group work. Time available. What will you do in the lesson
The organisation you will choose will depend on - What you want the children to learn. What experience the class already have of group work. The time, equipment and materials available
Your planning should include - What you need to collect and set out. Introducing the work. What the children will do. Monitoring and assessing their learning. Helping children of different abilities. Concluding the lesson
The video was written and produced by Tina Jarvis, Frankie McKeon and Jon Shears from SCIcentre and University of Leicester ITS Multimedia Services. It was made with the kind cooperation of St Marys CE Primary School, Bitteswell, Leicester. Special thanks go to Linda Cork and Penny Vernon.
