This is a lovely spot on an ocean beach in Rockland, Maine. I found a lot of lava rock washed up on the beach, as well as some cool tumbled brick pieces & a beautiful, natural red citrine crystal. It was a glorious day in so many ways!

Mainers prepare for Hurricane Sandy
We will all be watching this storm very closely over the course of the next few days, and people across the state are starting to prepare for the worst. This storm is what people are talking about along the coast of Maine. Mainers up and down the coast will spend the next 72 hours getting ready for what could be a major weather event. Hurricane Sandy is still 1,500 miles away, but it's all that people in Saco are talking about. Camp Ellis and Ferry Beach in Saco often get hit hard. The ocean ripped apart paved streets and swallowed entire homes during big storms in the past, so people here are thinking ahead.As Sandy causes damage to our south, here at home, Maine emergency management officials say they are in close contact with the governor and local communities. Emergency officials are preparing for a hit, and ask people along the coast to take note of where these storm evacuation signs are in their community, just in case.Emergency officials are asking fisherman and lobsterman to watch the forecast closely and asking them not take any chances on the water early next week. It is a busy day at Yankee Marina in Yarmouth. The staff here is busy hauling boats out of the water and adding anchors to their docks to prevent any damage.People up and down the coast are hoping for the best at this point, but they are preparing for rough seas ahead. The staff at Yankee Marina say more than half of the boats are already out of the water since we're at the end of the boating season, which should help make their job a little easier in the next few days. Another important note, Central Maine Power is preparing for the worst. Power outages could affect much of the state early next week.
