Rodos Greece 2011 (Rhodes)
Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands in terms of both land area and population, situated in eastern Aegean Sea.
It lies approximately 11 miles (18 km) to the west of the Turkish shores, situated between the Greek mainland and the island of Cyprus. As of 2007, it has a population that exceeds 130,000, of whom roughly 80,000 reside in the City of Rhodes, the island's capital.
Historically, Rhodes was famous worldwide for the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The medieval Old Town of the City of Rhodes has been declared a World Heritage Site. Today Rhodes is a major international tourist destination.

Hotel review Leonardo kolymbia resort.
It is a very nice hotel with a big svimmingpool. In the resturant they serve a nice variety of foods and deserts.
There is also spaghetti with meat sause and ice cream, if you have kids. The staff is very serviceminded and sweet. There is no real dress code so a nice pair of shorts will do.( I did wear long light chinos all 7 days, it was no problem, there`s aircondition )
At the swimming pool there is a life guard, her name is Mema and she is very sweet and provided us with safety and information around the pool.
It is a very nice hotel, but some of the room are with some wear and flaws, but if something is wrong, just say so and they will try to fix it.
The beach with sand is with free sunbeds if you stay at leonardos.
Thanks to the working girls in the restaurant for the song on my birthday and great service :-)
and also to the lady in the poolbar she was so kind. dyo colas efharisto.
Hotel is close to the local bus and it will take you to Rhodes or Lindos amo. There are many small supermarkets, shops, restaurents and bars, Cash ATM machines, just around the corner.
We had a great vacation thank you.

The marriage of Orpheus, the greatest of all poets and musicians, to Eurydice, a wood nymph, was heralded as the perfect union. Anyone could tell the couple was deeply in love. The Flawed Genius of Jan Smuts - History Documentary
Jan Smuts...“He was one of the most enlightened, courageous and noble-minded men of the 20th century...a man who fought for his country but who thought for the whole world”.......Winston Churchill.
“No politician in England for many a day has combined his sweep, his detachment and his subtlety” .....Manchester Guardian.
This was a great leader, he was a man who knew his story, he was a man who was a brilliant intellectual...Ken Gillings (Military Historian).
“Even the great thought he was great”.... Alan Paton
It was a great philosophical vision that he had that the whole is more important than the solitary or the individual.....Allister Sparks (Author and Political Commentator).
Once more General Smuts has revealed himself as a statesman with an international mind. He is one of the comparatively few great men in international politics......South Wales Argus.
Few actually understand how key Smuts is in the crafting of the world systems that emerges outside of South Africa......Keith Breckenridge (Economic History Professor)
Who was this South African Statesman who for more than half a century, played a leading role on
the domestic and international stage as warrior, statesman and counsellor of Kings?
He focused on uniting Boer and Brit after the Anglo-Boer War
Was caught up in a global arena between two world wars
...and served as a Member of the British War Cabinet in both wars.
Was accused of selling out to the British by the Afrikaners
...and neglected the disenfranchised in South Africa
HE WAS A MAN OF PARADOXES
A brilliant academic who believed in Reconciliation
...yet he spent the greater part of his life on the battlefield.
Reconciliation is what he wanted in a less draconian Peace Treaty with the Germans.
Reconciliation is central to the League of Nations, which he founded, and his preamble to the
United Nations Charter, which upholds human rights....
...yet, he failed to reconcile with the disenfranchised in South Africa for fear of losing white votes.
I cared more that he (Smuts) helped the foundation of the League of Nations, promoting freedom
throughout the world, than that he repressed freedom at home. Nelson Mandela
He was one of the greatest English orators of the 20th Century...
...and was appointed Chancellor of Cambridge and Cape Town universities and rector of St Andrews in
Scotland.
He was recognised by Einstein as one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th century
He is recognised today by two of the world's leading historians as being at the very centre of the vision for a new world order that emerges from the League of Nations and the United Nations.
Yet, he is virtually persona non grata in his own country.... and largely ignored in school history books.
This one hour drama-documentary, with its dramatized cameo scenes in which his look-alike grandson
takes on the role of Jan Smuts, battle re-enactments, historical archival footage, comments from
historians, political analysts, and South African political struggle heroes, looks back on his life and the
circumstances that shaped it in search of some answers.
