4 Days In Verona, Italy // Things To See And Do.
For a city we hadn't even planned on visiting until we got surprised with it at the very last minute, Verona is very impressive.
When it comes to Italian city, especially for us coming from the UK, the likes of Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan and Naples seem at the top of our travel plans with Verona being slightly more overlooked but it certainly shouldn't be. (Though it does have the advantage of not having as many long queues for hours as you might find in Rome).
Verona is an amazing Italian city and one you'll find yourself wanting to return to over and over again. Huge thanks to srprs.me for surprising us with this perfect Italian city!
You can check out our blog posts (with lots more photos and even more details) over on

Top 10 Verona, Italy - What to See & Do in Verona
Visit Verona
Romeo & Juliette made this town famous for millions of English students, but the city has more than just a balcony and two star crossed lovers. Verona is an amazing town to visit as the Arena still holds concerts ranging from Opera to Pearl Jam and with churches and castles spotted all around is well worth a few nights stay.

One Day in Verona, Italy: How to See Everything
Start at the bottom and work your way up. You'll see all the Romeo and Juliet sites, including where they lived and where they got married, along with the best views in Verona and amazing churches and piazzas.
Be sure to subscribe to see all our adventures around the world:
As you can see at the end of the video, we had time to spare. So if you want to go up the Torre dei Lamberti or go into the Arena, you can. Just make sure you watch your times, since ALL THE CHURCHES CLOSE AT 5pm, with a siesta break from 1-1:30.
You can easily see the entire city in one day. We started at the bottom (San Zeno and Castelvecchio) and zig-zagged our way up to the top, ending at the viewpoint (at Piazzale Castel San Pietro) for sunset. A little better planning would reduce the amount of walking we did (we covered more than 30,000 steps), but the town is so small that you can get across the entire thing in about 15 minutes.
Here is a list of everything we saw and the corresponding timestamps:
0:27 - Basilica San Zeno (where Romeo and Juliet got married)
3:01 - Castelvecchio
3:20 - Castelvecchio Bridge (aka Ponte Scaligero) - medieval bridge with the world's largest arch (at the time it was built)
3:49 - Piazza Bra
4:01 - Arena di Verona (it opens late on Mondays - at 1:30pm, every other day is 8:30am-7:30pm)
4:22 - Via Mazzini
4:39 - Porta Borsari
5:01 - Arco dei Gavi
5:12 - Lunch at Baccha Bundus (fantastic piadinas)
5:24 - Piazza della Erbe
5:29 - Piazza della Ragione
5:32 - Torre dei Lamberti
5:40 (and 12:00) - Casa di Giulietta (Juliet's House)
6:01 - Porta Leoni
6:10 - San Fermo (upper church)
6:51 - San Fermo (lower church)
7:28 - Casa di Romeo
7:36 - Sant'Anastasia
8:27 - Duomo di Verona (Verona Cathedral
9:10 - St. Elena
9:21 - The baptistry (St Giovanni in Fonte)
9:43 - Scaliger Tombs (Tombs of the della Scala family)
9:53 - Santa Maria Antica
10:02 and 10:38 - Ponte Pietra
10:41 - Piazzale Castel San Pietro (Best view in Verona)
10:54 - Dante's statue in Piazza dei Signori

Eating and Walking in Verona, Italy
We are really enjoying Verona, Italy! We decided that Italian Nutella *is* different from US Nutella, we enjoy teeny tiny little Nespresso espressos, hot bubbling cheese sandwiches from the Christmas markets are AWESOME and we also walked to the Castel San Pietro. Oh and Sandra found a surprise shop she wasn't expecting (and has been missing since leaving the US months ago).

Il Desco Restaurant - Verona, Italy - michelin stars since 1997
A prestigious palace of the 5th century, in the heart of the historic center of Verona, a few steps away from Juliet's house and amphitheater the Arena. The passion of a chef, Elia Rizzo, passed down to his son Matteo, and the warmth of an entire family. Strict but full of light spaces, style and elegance of a decor in which old elements blend with modern ingredients. As well as the cuisine, tied to the Venetian tradition, yet full of creative inspiration and innovation.
For more than 20 years, Il Desco is considered one of the most typical restaurants in Verona and Italy. Since 1997, awarded with stars by the Michelin Guide.
A Guide in Verona
A GUIDE IN VERONA is a two-lady team, licensed tour guides no less, who conduct tours in Verona for travellers aged 1 to 99, individuals to families! We all know it is difficult to bring young children on group tours because they can never adhere to a strict schedule. Besides, a free-and-easy holiday puts parents more at ease. So why is it that 'A Guide in Verona' is getting a feature here in 'Verona for Kids' and scoring the top spot?
You will be so thrilled to hear that they conduct tours specially catered for children! They call it the Safari Family Tour.

Verona restaurant: La Bottega della Gina, Italy
On a recent trip to Verona, Italy, we searched tripadvisor for Verona restaurant recommendations and within the top 5 was this little gem: La Bottega della Gina, which isn't really a proper Italian restaurant since rather than tables and chairs, it's more like a couple of high bar-type tables and bar-stools, and you eat off paper plates... but the pasta - they specialize in tortellini / tortelloni - is home-made with a wide range of fillings, it's fresh and absolutely delicious! So if you're looking for restaurants in Verona Italy, I'd say it's definitely worth checking this one out!
This video captures a small glimpse into what it's like to visit and eat at this great Verona food stop. I'd highly recommend it! And nope, this wasn't a sponsored video or anything like that - I'm just a regular foodie tourist who really enjoyed eating here! :)
