FRASER VALLEY HERITAGE RAILWAY SOCIETY: Preserving B.C.'s Electric Railway
The Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society is dedicated to restoration and preservation of vehicles from the BC Electric Railway which operated on the early 1900s. Visitors can learn about this historic transit system and ride one on only seven remaining interurban train cars from that system.

here we're standing inside one of only
seven remaining cars from the BC
Electric Railway this is an interurban
car the four of those are housed right
here at the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway

this is a map of the BC Electric
Railway routes which existed from the
early 1900's through until the 1950s
it's incredible to think that an
electric transit system was in place
back then that was even more extensive
than what we have today and stretched
all the way from Vancouver to out to
Chilliwack area

the Heritage Railways Society is
committed to restoring all four cars
that they currently own this one is
number 1231 and it's currently
restoration in progress in the future
they hope to be able to actually run
all four cars and extend their route as
far as the Newton area

in the Discovery Center you can view
several interurban streetcars which are
at various stages of restoration as well
as artifacts from the area outside you
can actually take a ride on the speeder
which you can see down here or one of
the working interurban street cars as well

cool way to experience a lost part of
our BC heritage very amazing to think
that that they had an Electric
railway system far more expansive than
what we have in today and a hundred
years later we're now switching back
from fossil fuels back to to electric
vehicles and seeing the expansion of
things like skytrain to further our
transit system so as usual please like

Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society: Volunteer Open House.
Work had me in Canada, and being that it was Saturday afternoon, I figured I could swing by the Interurban Heritage Railway shopsin Cloverdale to see if anyone was there who could let me look around. Who woulda thunk that they'd be having their Volunteer open house that day, giving Carbarn tours, letting you walk through their three historic interurban cars, and offering short rides on their yard lead!?
It you are ever in the area, this place is a must-visit.

FVHRS Refurbished Heritage Speeder / Railway Motor Car, Surrey
This speeder was kindly donated to the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway approximately 15 years ago from PNR Railworks, who were no longer using it.
A speeder, also known as a railway motor car, putt-putt, track-maintenance car, crew car, jigger, trike, quad, trolley or inspection car, is a maintenance-of-way motorized vehicle formerly used on railroads around the world by track inspectors and work crews.

The 1225 runs from Cloverdale Station to Sullivan Station every weekend throughout the summer.
The ride goes through the farm lands to Sullivan Station, passing across Highway 10, where people wave to passengers on the train as it goes by.

Based in Cloverdale, BCER Car 1225, restored by the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society, goes into service for the first time since 1958.

At 6:51 pm on Wednesday the 21st of January 2014 a 4 locomotive Grain train went up the hill through surrey that ran parallel along Scott road then crosses it twice. Sorry it was out of focus for a few parts.

The SRY Valley Turn starts its climb up the steep Kennedy Hill. Power includes SRY SD38ac 381, the very rare SRY SD35 385, and SD38-2's 384 and 382 all combining for an electric EMD lashup as they slug there way uphill with 21 cars.

The Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society offers weekend $10 rides on its restored Interurban rail car 1225. This is a vignette from the 50-minute round trip run in Surrey, BC from Cloverdale Station to Sullivan and back.
