Gulbenkian Museum, Gardens and Concert Hall, Lisbon, Portugal
Inaugurated in 1969, the museum houses the remarkable private collection of Calouste Gulbenkian.
The building was constructed in keeping with
most modern concepts of museum architecture,
designed in such a way as to remain in close
harmony with the surrounding park. The space
housing the permanent exhibition was recently
renovated, following a project designed by the
architect Paul Vandebotermet.
The building and gardens were designed as
a whole, enabling the general public to circulate
freely without demarcated spaces. The project
by the architects, Ruy Jervis Athouguia, Alberto Pessoa,
Pedro Cid, Gonçalo Ribeiro Teles and António Barreto
received the Valmor Prize in 1975 - the first time in
which the award included not only the building
itself but also the space of the gardens,
that have great landscape value.
The Musuem Building is a fine example
of Brutalist architecture, and surpasses most,
in part due to the integration of the surrounding garden with the building.
This tour focuses mostly on the building, its
Interior spaces, rather than its collection.

NOTES:
The slide caption for the piece of art named Cocoon seems somewhat very long, but I wanted to give enough time for interested people to read it thoroughly (either in Portuguese or in English). In case it bothers you, push forward with the mouse the time button. In my opinion, the text is too philosophic... I was told that the Cocoon will not stay in the garden after September 30, 2011.
The ducks are another story! With any doubt they belong to the family Anatidae. As far as I could go in the Internet, I think they are either the American Black Duck (Anas rubripes) or the Mottled Duck (Anas fulvigula) or even a variety in between. I have deep doubts because the ducks are described to live in North America that is why I asked some experts on line; however, and unfortunately, I did not receive any feedback...

VLOG 10 | TAKING A BREAK - GULBENKIAN GARDEN
Hey guys! It's been a while since I posted my last video here but college was taking advantage on me by consuming most of my time and I was need to stop for a while but I'M BACK. This spot in Lisbon it's one of my favorites to chill out my mind when the pressure struggles me, there's a lot of green places, waterfalls, animals everywhere and a peaceful environment that makes you forget that actually you are in the middle of the city!
