Epic Cam @ Harriman State Park Idaho 2010 .wmv
I wanted to find out what lurked in this little hole that I could never catch a fish out of. Now I know thanks to the Epic Cam underwater. This is at the oulet for the Harriman State Park in Island Park Idaho where there are really large fish. However, I think I was in the fish nursery.
Ep. 109: Island Park | Idaho RV travel camping
The area of southeastern Idaho known as Island Park is mostly a large crater, or caldera, named the Henry's Fork Caldera that was created by the same volcanic hotspot that created the later and much larger Yellowstone Caldera nearby. For the July 4th Independence Day holiday we find a boondocking camp right on the water at Island Park Reservoir for a little kayaking and camping with friends, while visiting Mesa Falls and Harriman State Park in this little town with a very unique history, just 25 minutes from Yellowstone National Park.
Filmed: July 1-6, 2019.

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Island Park, Idaho - Henry's Lake (2018)
Island Park is a city in Fremont County, Idaho, United States. The city's population was 286 at the 2010 census, up from 215 in 2000. The city was incorporated by owners of the many lodges and resorts along U.S. Route 20 in 1947, primarily to circumvent Idaho's liquor laws that prohibited the sale of liquor outside of city limits. It is only 500 feet (150 m) wide in most locations and, at 33 miles (53 km), claims to have the longest Main Street in the world.
Island Park is part of the Rexburg Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Harriman State Park: Tricos and Tricky Trout
The Railroad Ranch: one of the most difficult stretches of trout water in the United States. Small dries, light tippet, and long leaders are the most effective way of catching large rainbows here on the Henry's Fork. With so many bugs and countless food items available for these fish, it is hard to imagine a large rainbow would go out of its way to eat a fake morsel presented amongst all the other treats. Catching just one fish here on a given day is an accomplishment, with many of these trout being quite large. Watch as we undertake some of the most selective trout in the lower 48.

Oxbow Dam, Council Idaho Near Brownlee Dam. Dam's of America/United States!
Oxbow Dam is a hydroelectric run-of-the-river rockfill dam on the Snake River on the Idaho-Oregon border, in Hells Canyon (river mile 273). It is part of the Hells Canyon Project that also includes Hells Canyon Dam and Brownlee Dam, built and operated by Idaho Power Company.
The dam's powerhouse contains four generating units with a total nameplate capacity of 190 megawatts (250,000 hp).
Lacking passage for migrating salmon, the three Hells Canyon Project dams blocked access by anadromous salmonids to a stretch of the Snake River drainage basin from Hells Canyon Dam up to Shoshone Falls, which naturally prevents any upstream fish passage to the upper Snake River basin.

Island Park building extensive trail
ISLAND PARK - Island Park organizers have begun building a non-motorized trail from Henry's Lake to Harriman State Park. Volunteers were working on making the trail family friendly this morning. Funds from the Island Park Fun Run have been utilized in conjunction with volunteers to build the trail.
It's a big project that could take many years to complete.
It's taken all of us to partnership together to bring a vision into a reality, said Connie Funkhouser, the Island Park Chamber of Commerce.
Volunteers are putting hundreds of hours into removing rocks from the trail to make it accessible to everybody.
Community can't be a viable place to live unless the members of the community themselves participate in what's going on. Government can't do everything, said Lee King, a 4-year Island Park resident who says he will live out his retirement here.
Multiple governmental organizations have also teamed up to get it done, including the Forest Service.
They came to the conclusion that the Box Canyon Trail here near Pond's Lodge was probably a good starting point, because we already had 3 miles of existing trail, said Jarrod Hansen, with the Forest Service.
A map of the proposed community trail shows how instead of working from the top to bottom, or the bottom to the top, they are actually starting in the center, and working north and south simultaneously.
I think there's a great need for a non-motorized trail system, said Randy Gravatt, a 16-year Island Park resident.
Many believe the would be green-belt will be an additional tourism drive. But even if it isn't, locals working on the project say it's worth it just for themselves.
To appreciate life, to appreciate that there is still some peace and quiet. To rejuvenate your thoughts and yourself. We have a lot to be thankful for in the United States, and this is one of them, said Funkhouser.
So far the work has been paid for by funds collected at the Island Park Fun Run. In the coming years, they'll have to raise a considerable lot more money and/or obtain grants to complete the project. But everybody involved believes momentum to accomplish the project is helping get it done.
The community trail doesn't have an official name just yet. And the proposed layout of the trail is not set in stone. But for now, organizers will be expanding the green-belt starting from the Box Canyon Trail.
