Robin and I needed thermals since the wind wasn't strong enough to soar the rim. Even though it is February southern New Mexico (USA) still has thermals as strong as 800'/min. (Lifting air taking up pilot and glider). We each had an hour and a quarter of air time.

Alamogordo City Commission mtg, Atari Landfill issue, 11 Jun '13
This is the section of the meeting that was dedicated to Public Comment. I introduced Mr Amos Huckleby, who was a member of the family in 1969 that was so severely impacted by the mercury poisoning. Please listen to Amos' heart wrenching comments about his experience so that you will fully understand why Mrs. Helen Wood is so vigorously pursuing the city to use extreme caution with the Atari Graveyard.
It is also worth noting that Mayor Galea put on quite a show after Amos was finished, telling those present that she knew where the hogs and mercury laced grain was. I found that very interesting as AFTER the meeting, I personally watched Helen Wood and Joe Lendowski stand in the foyer area and go over the aerial photo's and maps. When they were done, Helen told me that she believed that they had JUST identified pretty much where the toxic waste was. But again, that was only AFTER the meeting where the Mayor said she 'knew' where the waste was.
The bottom line for me is that I am sure that due to the publicity that Helen Wood has brought to this issue, the city's rush to put Alamogordo back on the map will not result in anyone getting sick or dying from a new outbreak. I am convinced that the City Commission will take Joe Lendowski's recommendations seriously and will ensure that the public is protected. But I absolutely have to commend Helen for making this happen. Thanx Helen!
And as always, I'm Paul Chez Sanchez and I wrote and endorse this note. If you read this on another FB page, please feel free to respond on my FB page, Those who show up, decide. May God Bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America!!
RV Travel Life | Sledding FAIL at White Sands National Monument & Pistachio Land
White Sands National Monument is the worlds largest field of Gypsum Crystals. It is not White Sand at all, but fine Gypsum crystals that are so fine you can actually walk on them very comfortably. The dune field is an isolated area in New Mexico that is part of the Tularosa Basin. This field of dunes is located approximately 40 miles south of the Malpais/Lava Flow which provides an amazing contrast between a Lava Flow (Black) and the Gypsum Fields (White). Both can be seen miles in the distance on clear days.
In the 1940s this area was deemed perfect by the US Government to test missiles and explosives given the nature of the area. The Tularosa Basin became home to the first experiment of the atomic bomb and several other missiles were launched and tested here as well.
A surprising find was all of the pistachio farms in this area. We failed to get footage of this but if you go to our Instagram or Facebook page (details below) we have lots of photos of the places we went. There were two large farms near Boothill RV Park. The first is called Heart of the Desert Winery, and the second is called McGinns. We bought lots of wine at Heart of the Desert, but bought many pistachio flavors and Pecan brittle at McGinns. We had more fun at McGinns but it was more diverse. I'm sorry we did not get more footage of these two areas. There were a lot of people around and we like to respect the privacy of others as much as possible with this channel.

Trinity (nuclear test)
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Trinity was the code name of the first detonation of a nuclear weapon. It was conducted by the United States Army at 5:29 a.m. on July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project. The test was conducted in the Jornada del Muerto desert about 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, on what was then the USAAF Alamogordo Bombing and Gunnery Range, now part of White Sands Missile Range. The only structures originally in the vicinity were the McDonald Ranch House and its ancillary buildings, which scientists used as a laboratory for testing bomb components. A base camp was constructed, and there were 425 people present on the weekend of the test.
The code name Trinity was assigned by J. Robert Oppenheimer, the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, inspired by the poetry of John Donne. The test was of an implosion-design plutonium device, informally nicknamed The Gadget, of the same design as the Fat Man bomb later detonated over Nagasaki, Japan, on August 9, 1945. The complexity of the design required a major effort from the Los Alamos Laboratory, and concerns about whether it would work led to a decision to conduct the first nuclear test. The test was planned and directed by Kenneth Bainbridge.
Fears of a fizzle led to the construction of a steel containment vessel called Jumbo that could contain the plutonium, allowing it to be recovered, but Jumbo was not used.
A rehearsal was held on May 7, 1945, in which 108 short tons (96 long tons; 98 t) of high explosive spiked with radioactive isotopes were detonated.
The Gadget's detonation released the explosive energy of about 22 kilotons of TNT (92 TJ). Observers included Vannevar Bush, James Chadwick, James Conant, Thomas Farrell, Enrico Fermi, Richard Feynman, Leslie Groves, Robert Oppenheimer, Geoffrey Taylor, and Richard Tolman.
The test site was declared a National Historic Landmark district in 1965, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places the following year.

Cult Escape - My Experience in the Potter's House Christian Church / Wayman Mitchell / CFM
At 14 years old, I was introduced to the Potter's House Church by my sister who had organised with a member to be picked up to attend their Sunday service. At the first service, I was scared of the shouting in tongues to pray but also noted that this was called a 'church' therefore reasoned that it was a safe place. Slowly over my adolescent vulnerable years, perhaps in a way to connect to my sister who I considered my only relative who could understand our broken home and troubled upbringing, I attended more and more events of the church subsequent their tactic of ‘love bombing’. By 18 I was 'locked in’; that is, I obeyed all the rules including attending all calendar events and disclosing all personal decisions to leaders and following their advice. To not do the aforementioned was labelled 'rebellion' and 'following the devil'. This routine went on for six years where I was at the church building or outreaches almost every day of the week. Questions were discouraged in the church and archaic practices were considered in vogue. For example, education was discouraged, logical thinking was valued lower than the pastors wisdom, females could not hold leadership positions, families do best when mothers' stay at home, physical infirmities were considered to be caused by 'curses' or 'undisclosed sin' etcetera. Eventually, the rules and doctrines of the church stirred a visceral reaction in me to leave the monstrous, unrighteous place. Credit and many thanks to Ash for making this : )
Elementary Prayers Movie (2016)

It shows how one can be a missionary and bring about a harvest for the kingdom of God in your own back yard. The film is rated Four-Stars by the Dove Foundation, and deemed to be a powerful and compelling story.

Ben Bederson's Interview
Benjamin Bederson, a New York native, was selected to serve in the Special Engineer Detachment during the Manhattan Project. A physicist, he was first sent to Oak Ridge, and then to Los Alamos, where he worked for Donald Hornig on designing the ignition switches for the implosion bomb. At Los Alamos, he knew Ted Hall and David Greenglass, who were secretly sending atomic bomb secrets to the USSR. Bederson instructed the 509th Composite Group at Wendover and was sent to Tinian to help wire the switches for the bomb. He recalls the feeling of expectation just before the bombing of Hiroshima and his jubilation at Japan's surrender. Bederson's story is currently featured at the New-York Historical Society exhibition WWII & NYC.

Southwestern United States | Wikipedia audio article
The Southwestern United States (Spanish: Suroeste de Estados Unidos; also known as the American Southwest) is the informal name for a region of the western United States. Definitions of the region's boundaries vary a great deal and have never been standardized, though many boundaries have been proposed. For example, one definition includes the stretch from the Mojave Desert in California (117° west longitude) to Carlsbad, New Mexico (104° west longitude), and from the Mexico–United States border to the southern areas of Colorado, Utah, and Nevada (39° north latitude). The largest metropolitan areas are centered around Phoenix (with an estimated population of more than 4.7 million as of 2017), Las Vegas (more than 2.2 million), Tucson (more than 1 million), Albuquerque (more than 900,000), and El Paso (more than 840,000). Those five metropolitan areas have an estimated total population of more than 9.6 million as of 2017, with nearly 60 percent of them living in the two Arizona cities—Phoenix and Tucson.
Most of the area was part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain in the Spanish Empire before becoming part of Mexico. European settlement was almost non-existent outside New Mexico in 1848, when it became part of the United States through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, while southern areas of Arizona and southwestern New Mexico were added in the later Gadsden Purchase.
