VIETNAM OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO HANOI! Tour of Soft & Hard Sleeper
Travel by overnight sleeper train in Vietnam from Danang to Hanoi! I rode the 4-berth soft sleeper and toured the 6-berth hard sleeper near the end. Watch more Vietnam vlogs:

Hi family! Alright...so this overnight train ride to Hanoi was not the most pleasant for me; however, it is still a great way to travel Vietnam. Here are some things I'd recommend you doing if you are considering taking the sleeper train:
-DO bring food & snacks! No food cart rolled around during the entire 16 hour train ride. I kept trying to listen for the wheeling of the cart and even left my door open around dinner time. There was nothing. There was water and hot water though :) Cup o noodles team!
-DO bring jacket, scarf, or sarong that you can wear. It gets COLD at night especially as we get closer North. You can even lay them down if you're afraid of unclean bedsheets.
-DO check the door & lights in your room when you arrive in case there's some kind of malfunction. You may be able to ask the train staff (who come around sometimes) to switch to another one.
-DON'T talk super loudly and be mindful of other passengers in the room. A man ended up taking the berth next to me at 12am and was talking on the phone for a whole hour :/
-DON'T buy your tickets online if you can just get it at the station a few days earlier or even a day earlier! I met a couple of travellers who just showed up that day and booked. It is always cheaper way cheaper at the train station. OR ask your hotel staff to help you book it. Don't go to a tour agency - they'll charge you lots. I was traveling during TET so had no choice but to secure it online. If you're on last resort - check out 12go.asia (the site I use for train & ferry travel in Southeast Asia).
If you don't want to take a sleeper train but still want to experience it, take the Vietnam railway train from Hue to Danang or Danang to Hue. It is a 2.5 hour train ride with breathtaking views of Vietnam's coastline! You can just get a regular seat, no sleeper needed.
While this train ride didn't go so well for me, I know the experience is different for everyone. Take it or not, it's up to you :)! It IS way better than the overnight busses - or so I heard.
Thank you for tuning in! Hope this information helps you when traveling in Vietnam!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Although this is my 7th visit to Vietnam, I still feel that there are many first impressions of Ho Chi Minh City that are still fascinating to me. I first started the day by eating Bun Bo Hue and continued walking to the Saigon train station. I tried buying Vietnam train tickets while also explaining the importance of the Reunification Express during the Vietnam War. I managed to also pass by the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon while walking to the Saigon Central Post Office.
This bustling city is exciting yet overwhelming at the same time. I hope you enjoy watching while exploring this city with me :)

Tet in Ben Thanh Market (Part 1) - Saigon, Vietnam 2019
Tết is the most important holiday in Vietnamese culture. Chúc Mừng Năm Mới (Happy New Year) is the most common phrase you will hear during Tết. I figured that I would celebrate Tết this year by bringing my new Canon G7x Mark ii to the famous tourist attraction, Bến Thành Market, to meet some locals and wish them Happy New Year.
All of the vendors at Bến Thành Market are very friendly if you show them respect. A lot of tourists come here with a very sour attitude and are very disrespectful when bargaining,. But if you show them respect, they will give you respect back.

✏︎ As we decided to head for Sapa in the Northwestern region of Vietnam, we had to figure out how to get there. However it wasn't hard to pick the most intriguing solution, as we found out there are night trains from Hanoi to Lao Cai which is the train station closest to Sapa.
We booked a VIP cabin, which means we have a 2 berth cabin all to ourselves. You can also book a bed in a 4 berth cabin, but those were simply too small for comfort if you ask us.
The whole experience was great. Of course it's not easy to get a proper nights sleep, but it's a great way to save both money and time, as the train removes the need to accommodation elsewhere. If you are going to Sapa from Hanoi this is very much recommendable.

Happy New Year! Drive with me through the traffic in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on New Year's Eve. This city is always lively, but it picks up during holidays like this. Flight from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam 4K Travel Channel
After a few days in Hoi An, our next destination is Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon, as the city is still called. The hotel shuttle of the Royal Riverside Hotel in Hoi An takes us to the airport in Da Nang. Da Nang has about a million inhabitants and is the third largest city in Vietnam, after Ho Chi Min City and Hanoi.
We quickly reach Da Nang and crossed the Song Cam Le on the Cau Tien Son bridge and then turn right into 2 Thang 9 (September 2, Vietnam's Independence Day). There are sports stadiums, golf clubs, hotels, and restaurants. We then turn into the Duy Tan, which leads straight to the airport.
The airport was the northernmost air base of the Americans in the Vietnam war. It played an important role in the supply for the American defense forces during the attack on Khe Sanh and the Tet offensive.
During take-off, we have a nice view of Da Nang and the bay in front. In the further course, the view always clouded by dense clouds, but in some gaps, we can recognize the underlying country.
Some threatening thunderclouds pile up.
Only as we approach the Mekong Delta the visibility gets better. We can recognize the meandering river bends of the Mekong. A tangle of canals runs through the country.
The airplane flies in a big bend around Ho Chi Minh City and approaches the airport first from the south and then from the west. Here you find extensive rice fields which are increasingly displaced by the suburbs. Today, the airport lies in a densely populated area.
The taxi takes us via broad streets to the center. Due to the countless motor scooters, the streets convey a highly populated impression. Many people wear breathing masks. This is a constant reminder of the failure of the transport industry and the responsible authorities to keep the air clean.
Beside ancient temples, we see a series of modern skyscrapers. The distance from the airport to the hotel is about 7 km.
