Maryhill: Guarding The Columbia River Gorge -
Find out why Maryhill is the other Washington's best-kept travel secret. There is a world-class art museum with one of the largest collections of original Rodin works in the USA, and memorabilia which once belonged to the former royal family of Romania. You can visit a replica of Stonehenge which is the first World War I memorial in the USA, an award-winning winery, or enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Columbia Gorge below. With all this to offer, Maryhill won't stay a secret for long!
The Hood River County Fruit Loop - Hood River Oregon - August 12, 2013
This is just a few farms around the 35-mile scenic drive that's on the list of what is called the Fruit Loop in Hood River Oregon. Get to visit the valley's orchards, farmlands, and vineyards. Get to sample all the locally grown Oregon Fruits and Vegetables as well as the great Oregon Wine. My favorite is the Oregon Pinot Noir Wines and the Marion Berries fruit which is like black berries but much sweeter.
Hood River Railroad Trip 2018
We took a day trip out to the Hood River. We went on the Hood River Railroad to Parksdale, wine tasting at Naked Winery and had dinner. #OregonLiving

Touring Columbia Gorge Hotel
This week's Northwest Winecast features Part 2 of our visit to the Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River, Ore.
The historic property, built in 1921, staged the 2010 Northwest Wine Summit competition. Paul Robinson, general manager of the hotel, is a veteran of the Northwest food and wine industry. In fact, he was profiled as a Match Maker chef in Wine Press Northwest during his days at the now-shuttered Sundance Grill in Richland, Wash.
In this episode, we take a tour of the historic property and grounds.

This is Part #3 of our Road Trip thru the State of Oregon. Such beautiful country. A must see if you ever get a chance to be in this part of the United States.
The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area encompasses 292,500 acres, the entire length of the Columbia River Gorge. It spans two states, extreme southern Washington and northern Oregon, and runs from the mouths of Sandy River to the Deschutes River. The Columbia River Gorge is unique in both its natural and cultural history, as well as its designation as a National Scenic Area. Step through this beautiful, historic gateway into nature's wonderland of breathtaking geologic wonders, dazzling waterfalls, thick lush thickets of fern, wild rhododendron, and deeply shaded forests of oak.
Here is a brief list of not to miss topics: Multnomah Falls, the Historic Columbia River Highway, Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, Maryhill Museum, Bonneville Dam Lock and Dam, downtown Hood River, the Fruit Loop in Hood River Valley, wine tasting, a salmon dinner, a hike at Eagle Creek, crossing a bridge at Cascade Locks or Hood River, the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center at Stevenson or the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center at The Dalles, and a rafting trip on the White Salmon River,
Multnomah Falls
Fed by underground springs from Larch Mountain, the flow over the falls varies, usually it's highest during winter and spring.
Multnomah Falls offers one of the best places in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area to study geology exposed by floods. Five flows of Yakima basalt are visible in the falls' cliff face.

Ride to The Dalles Oregon from Vancouver WA along WA HiWay 14
Rode to The Dalles Oregon via Vancouver Washington 7 May 2013, rode along HiWay 14 along the Columbia River. Took many videos of the ride. You can see I went from the Pacific Northwest Rain Forrest to the arid desert of the east side of Washington and Oregon, from trees to no trees, then back towards Portland Oregon along the Columbia. The ride was on my 2007 FJR 1300, the camera is mounted on my left mirror sorry for the bumpy video, the road is pretty crappy in places, due to lack of funds to make it right.
Maryhill Winery
Maryhill is in the tiny town of Goldendale, Washington and sits on the north side of the Columbia River Gorge. The views are spectacular. The winery is relatively young having started in 2001.
Their goal here is to showcase all the different regions within Washington and the wide variety of grapes. They source from multiple AVAs and areas including Horse Heaven Hills AVA, lower Yakima Valley, Columbia Gorge AVA, Elephant Mountain in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA, Red Mountain AVA and the Walla Walla Valley. They strive to create affordable and approachable wines. We were visiting on a wine club pickup day and watched people exiting with hand trucks stacked with cases.
