Hurrah Pass & Chicken Corners Complete UTV Trail Ride - Moab, Utah
A complete ride on Hurrah Pass and Chicken Corners trails in a 2019 Polaris RZR XP 1000 4-Seat UTV. This ride was done in late June, 2019. This was our first time driving these trails and overall I'd rate them as easy in a UTV. I wouldn't have any problems taking my stock Jeep with all-season tires on Hurrah Pass, but personally I wouldn't try Chicken Corners in my Jeep.

Long Canyon - Moab, Utah
Moab, Utah is one of the premier off-road and four-wheel drive destinations. Comprised of some of the most well-known trails in all of the United States it has trail types that suit all driver's wheeling desires. Some would call it an off-roader's paradise. Long Canyon is not a trail in a jeeper's sense but just a dirt road that connects you back into Moab if you are out playing in the Gemini Bridges area. The reward is some of the most breath-taking views that the Moab area has to offer. This trail is best done on a clear day about an hour before sunset to really highlight the scenery. There is a look-out point about half way with about an 800-foot vertical drop into the canyon below. Feel free to explore this area in your vehicles and gain some killer photography, but beware this area is very dangerous and there are no second chances. Small children should be kept close, there are some verticle cracks that small children will undoubtedly find if left by themselves.

ABOUT DEAD HORSE POINT STATE PARK
Near Canyonlands National Park and just north of Moab in Utah, is one of Utah's finest state parks. Overlooks and a rim trail walk offer sweeping views of canyons, buttes and a photographic bend in the Colorado River.
Millions of years of geologic activity created the spectacular views from Dead Horse Point State Park. Deposition of sediments by ancient oceans, freshwater lakes, streams and wind-blown sand dunes created the rock layers of canyon country. Igneous activity formed the high mountains that rise like cool blue islands out of the hot, dry desert.
The plants and animals of Dead Horse Point have adapted to a land of scarce water and extreme temperatures. Plants grow very slowly here. Trees 15 feet tall may be hundreds of years old. Leaves of most plants are small and some have a waxy coating to reduce evaporation. Most desert animals are nocturnal, active only during cooler evenings and mornings. Some have large ears to dissipate heat, while others metabolize water from food.
The Legend of Dead Horse Point: Dead Horse Point is a peninsula of rock atop sheer sandstone cliffs. The peninsula is connected to the mesa by a narrow strip of land called the neck. There are many stories about how this high promontory of land received its name. According to one legend, around the turn of the century the point was used as a corral for wild mustangs roaming the mesa top. Cowboys rounded up these horses, herded them across the narrow neck of land and onto the point. The neck, which is only 30-yards-wide, was then fenced off with branches and brush. This created a natural corral surrounded by precipitous cliffs straight down on all sides, affording no escape. Cowboys then chose the horses they wanted and let the culls or broomtails go free. One time, for some unknown reason, horses were left corralled on the waterless point where they died of thirst within view of the Colorado River, 2,000 feet below.
That’s just a small part of the adventure and beauty you’ll find here in beautiful Dead Horse Point State Park..

Blue Trail alongside a Canyon in Moab
After being off the bike for 3 weeks due to injury, I was pretty stoked to be back on the bike and pedalling around Moab. After the 20 hour drive down from Squamish, we headed to the Navajo Rocks area and did a 27km loop around in the warm sunshine. Just the best ????.
