Halifax Whiskey Festival | Halifax | Nova Scotia | Canada
For just under a decade NSLC (Nova Scotia Liquor Commission) has been putting on the NSLC Festival of Whisky.
Last year we had the opportunity to browse this event and speak with Jennifer Katona, Spirits Category Manager, who gave us a wonderful idea of everything this event stands for, and accomplishes.
This event takes place over the course of several evenings offering attendees the option of picking a night that matches with their interests and budget.

COCKTAIL SOCIAL: Women & Whisky

Enjoy the company of fellow whisky-loving women during an evening of cocktails & bites at one of Halifax’s trendiest new restaurants. What happens when the northernmost and southernmost distilleries in Scotland get together to host a whisky dinner? In an exclusive dining experience, Islay meets the Orkney islands as Highland Park and Ardbeg join forces to showcase eight incredible single malts alongside an exceptional four-course meal. Your hosts Cameron Millar (National Brand Ambassador, Highland Park) and Bryan Simpson (National Brand Ambassador, Ardbeg) will share stories and laughs in this educational whisky pairing dinner that puts two legends of single malt Scotch side-by-side.

Grand Opening in Dartmouth of Largest Kent Store in Atlantic Canada
The Grand Opening of the new 124,000 sq ft box store in Dartmouth Crossing, Nova Scotia positions Kent Building Supplies for the future in the largest market in Atlantic Canada. The store is designed with both the retail customer and the contractor in mind. It includes a 20,000 sq ft drive through warehouse with all lumber inside as well as an outdoor lumber yard. The contractor desk area is the largest of any Kent store and features meeting rooms and services like estimating, accounting and design. The store showcases Kent's new branding package along with expanded assortments in seasonal, heating, hardware, furniture, and building materials. The store also shows off Kent's creative merchandising, year round garden center and displays that have been designed to provide a world-class home improvement shopping experience.
Earlier this month, the store opened its doors for a special preview to local contractors. Over 350 contractors and their families came out to celebrate the new location.
Store Manager Jennifer Salter and her 210 great team members look forward to serving all customers in the region.

#KidsCancerPain Campaign and the Cancer Knowledge Network
CCTR interviews Dr. Christine Chambers of the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research at IWK Health Center in Nova Scotia, and Dr. Jennifer Stinson, nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto about #KidsCancerPain, a new social media campaign supported by the Canadian Cancer Knowledge Network designed to help children with cancer and their parents better assess and treat their children's pain symptoms. A new application for iphone, Pain Squad, is a game-like program that helps kids manage and assess their pain needs with immediate pdf communication to their doctor, available now for free download. The social media campaign involves tweets, blogs, links to important information, and also helps parents to connect.

Finding Katimavik - My Halifax - Feature
Katimavik is a youth volunteer program in Canada. Their mission is to develop the participants to be caring citizens engaged in their community. In 2012 the Canadian government cut the funding for this program. That has affected many cities throughout Canada including Halifax, Nova Scotia. This video is trying to help save Katimavik.
