TRACY'S KING CRAB SHACK, JUNEAU, ALASKA HD 1080p
Description
Cruising Alaska Juneau
Hey Cruisers, Welcome to Juneau, Alaska’s capital. There are no roads in or out of Juneau, but there are plenty of shops and fun right off the dock. In fact, there is plenty to explore on foot.
Juneau has a rich gold rush history, and the Red Dog Saloon seems to harken back to those times…with swinging doors, sawdust floors, lively music, and crazy décor. It’s kind of a must stop in Juneau.
If you want to get a little further away, hop on the Mt. Roberts tramway. The tram rises 1,800 feet from the cruise ship dock downtown, through the rain forest to the Mountain House. There’s a nature center, hiking trails, shopping and even food at the Timberline bar at the top.
If you love hiking, glaciers and waterfalls, jump one of the many convenient bus tours to Mendenhall Glacier. Once you arrive, you can enjoy the view of Mendenhall glacier from the visitors center or venture out on foot, to get a closer look. But be sure to leave your snacks on the cruise ship- to keep curious bears at bay, the park doesn’t allow food of any kind.
The scenic hike to spectacular Nugget falls starts at the visitors center, and ends at this breathtaking waterfall, with Mendenhall glacier in the background. We’re going to turn off the music and give you a little idea of what it sounds like to be at Nugget Falls.

Juneau, Alaska
Alaska, known as America's last frontier and the North Star state, is home to frozen landscapes and towering mountain regions. Juneau, the state capital, is one of the southernmost Alaskan cities in a region known as the Inside Passage. Fjords, glaciers, and icebergs dominate the seascape, attracting glacier hikers, kayakers, explorers, whale watchers, and other thrill seekers. Many cruise lines offer Alaskan cruises and begin at Vancouver Island and go as far north as Glacier Bay National Park, giving tourists a view of the seas not seen from land. One of the most popular tourist areas in Juneau is the Mendenhall Glacier, known for it's ice caves and glacier trekking opportunities. A beautiful temperate rainforest surrounds Juneau, offering gorgeous hiking trails through the mountains, rainforests, and leading to many glaciers. The state capital is also known as one of the hotspots during the Gold Rush era and preserved its history along an area called the Perseverance Trail.

DAY 5 - Bear in Ketchikan:
We made it to Alaska! The Norwegian Bliss traveled through the Alaskan Inside Passage and arrived in the state's capital Juneau, AK. We spent the morning whale watching before heading off the ship to our scheduled excursion. We signed up for the Glacier Helicopter Ride and Dog Sledding Adventure (Coastal Helicopters / Icefield Expeditions). We took a helicopter ride up to the Mendenhall and Herbert Glaciers where the dog camp was based. We got an introduction to dog sledding and met up with our furry team of Alaskan Huskies. Now what it's like to be dog mushers. We had a blast and finished off the excursion hanging out with the puppies before our helicopter flight back to the airport.
We had a nice dinner after returning to the ship and then headed to the Cavern Club where DT gave a karaoke concert.

Gold Creek Flume Trail Construction ???? Juneau Alaska
Gold Creek Flume Trail ????
The Gold Creek Flume, built in the early 1900s, is showing its age.
According to AEL&P, shifting and settling of the structure has caused leakage, reduced efficiency, and raised safety concerns.
Due to this, AEL&P will be refurbishing the flume in 2019 and 2020. AEL&P’s goal is to maintain the historic project while ensuring safe and reliable conditions that allow us to provide renewable energy to Juneau customers, as well as allow CBJ Parks and Rec to preserve recreational access.
Between the months of April and September, the flume will be closed to recreational access while repairs are underway. To ensure safety, please observe all notices and stay clear of all closed areas.
