Adia shows us her favourite spots at Vienna's Imperial Palace.
Have a look!
It is one of the biggest palace complexes in the world. The oldest parts date to the 13th century, with construction having continued right into the 20th century. The Imperial Palace was the residence and seat of government of the Habsburg emperors until 1918. Today, it is home to numerous museums with outstanding collections, the Spanish Riding School, a congress center, the seat of the Austrian Federal President as well as the historic Heldenplatz.

Kaiserappartements - Hofburg - Wien
Wien - Städtereise
Ostern 2011 - Tag 1 - Film 06
Kaiserappartements

Vienna, Austria - Hofburg Palace HD (2013)
Hofburg Palace is a palace located in Vienna, Austria, that has housed some of the most powerful people in European and Austrian history, including the Habsburg dynasty, rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It currently serves as the official residence of the President of Austria. It was the Habsburgs' principal winter residence, as the Schönbrunn Palace was their preferred summer residence.
The Hofburg area has been the documented seat of government since 1279 for various empires and republics. The Hofburg has been expanded over the centuries to include various residences (with the Amalienburg), the Imperial Chapel (Hofkapelle or Burgkapelle), the Naturhistorisches Museum and Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Austrian National Library (Hofbibliothek), the Imperial Treasury (Schatzkammer), the Burgtheater, the Spanish Riding School (Hofreitschule), the Imperial Horse Stables (Stallburg and Hofstallungen), and the Hofburg Congress Center.
The Hofburg faces the Heldenplatz ordered under the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph, as part of what was to become a Kaiserforum that was never completed.
Numerous architects have executed work at the Hofburg as it expanded, notably the Italian architect-engineer Filiberto Luchese (the Leopoldischiner Trakt), Lodovico Burnacini and Martino and Domenico Carlone, the Baroque architects Lukas von Hildebrandt and Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach (the Reichschancelry Wing and the Winter Riding School), Johann Fischer von Erlach (the library), and the architects of the grandiose Neue Burg built between 1881 and 1913.

Schönbrunn Palace - Schloß Schönbrunn ???????? Vienna Tourist Guide Travel & Discover
At the end of the 17th century Emperor Leopold I commissioned the gifted Baroque architect Bernhard Fischer von Erlach to built a palatial hunting lodge for the heir to the throne. On the site of the old imperial château de plaisance a splendid edifice was to arise.
Half a century later under Maria Theresa Schönbrunn Palace was to become the magnificent focus of court life. From that time onwards it played host to the leading statesmen of Europe. Although Austria is now a republic, Schönbrunn has remained a place of political encounter at the highest level.
The magnificent architecture and the exquisite décor of its state rooms marks Schönbrunn out as a cultural treasure and tourist attraction of the first order. (from schoenbrunn.at)

HOFBURG PALACE AND IMPERIAL TREASURY: MUST-SEES IN VIENNA!
Hofburg Palace is the official residence and workplace of the President of Austria and it features several museums and royal apartments. It's history dates back to the 13th century when it was an imperial palace. It was the winter residence of the monarchs of the Hapsburg Dynasty. It's beautiful front exterior features several statues, including statues of Hercules. Inside we took a tour of the Imperial Treasury and saw some amazing jewels and artifacts, including Imperial crowns, coronation robes, and ceremonial swords. The southwest portion of the palace is called the New Castle (Neue Burg) and this is where Adolph Hitler gave a speech from the balcony, annexing Austria. If you visit Vienna, Hofburg Palace and it's Imperial Treasury should be high on your list of things to see.
