Again we would like to take this opportunity to thank Red Chilli Hideaway, for the wonderful trip and specialty Mr Hassan Nsubuga, our driver, ranger, organizer and friend! Thank you!
Our trip to Uganda took 10 days, and I'm sure I'll never forget it. On the top of the cake was the company of two of my sons, Marta and João, since Joana couldn't come due to her busy work agenda. Finally a great thanks to Carlos, long time true friend who, with Red Chilli Hideaway have designed the trip.
This is the second video of a serie of video I'll produce, and I pretend to give you a quick feel of this wonderful and friendly country, UGANDA!
Most tourists who come to Uganda visit more than one destination. You can combine your Queen Elizabeth safari with gorilla trekking safaris in Bwindi, or tour Murchison Falls National Park. For relaxation after your wildlife safari, you can visit Ssese Islands but if you are more interested in adventure, take on rafting on the nile, chimpanzee trekking in Kibale, Rwenzori Mountains climbing and Mount elgon hike.
Queen Elizabeth National Park occupies an estimated 1,978 square kilometres (764 sq mi). The park extends from Lake George in the north-east to Lake Edward in the south-west and includes the Kazinga Channel connecting the two lakes.
The park was founded in 1952 as Kazinga National Park. It was renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is known for its wildlife, including Cape buffaloes, hippopotami, crocodiles, elephants, leopards, lions, and chimpanzees. It is home to 95 mammal species and over 500 species of birds. The area around Ishasha in Rukungiri District is famous for its tree-climbing lions, whose males sport black manes. Poachers killed six elephants in the park in 2015, triggering both anger and frustration within the Ugandan conservation community.
The park is also famous for its volcanic features, including volcanic cones and deep craters, many with crater lakes, such as the Katwe craters, from which salt is extracted.
Services in the park include a telecenter run by Conservation Through Public Health and the Uganda Wildlife Authority, neighboring the Queen's Pavilion, park lodges, game and scenic drives, and boat launches.

Volcanoes Safaris Protecting The Lost Gorge of Kyambura - trailer
Atta Webinar: Volcanoes Safaris - Re-imagining Kyambura Gorge
In 2017 Volcanoes Safaris launched a strategic program to re-imagine all aspects of the 4 luxury lodges: design, style, the guest experience, food and service, lodge and safari activities, and guest participation in community and conservation projects. This program has required significant investment and has already seen a major transformation of our lodges, which is due to be completed by 2020.
Kyambura Gorge Lodge has been fully refurbished and upgraded with entirely remodelled public areas and gardens. New deluxe bandas will be launched soon. The swimming pool has been redesigned and upgraded. A new spa is being built.
We have created new walking safaris around the lodge to experience the dramatic landscapes of Kyambura gorge and the Queen Elizabeth savannah, and visit a reclaimed wetland.
The Kyambura Gorge Eco-tourism project was also launched in February 2019, a series of community and conservation activities developed since 2009 to safeguard the Kyambura Gorge ecosystem.
This webinar is a chance to learn about the beautifully upgraded Kyambura Gorge Lodge, the ideal starting point to track the Endangered Chimpanzees in the sunken Gorge, and the activities developed by the Kyambura Gorge Eco-Tourism Project.
This webinar is presented by Eloisa Barberis Canonico.

Track the Lost Chimps of Kyambura Gorge in Uganda with The Explorations Company
Track the lost chimpanzees of Kyambura Gorge on your safari to Uganda and in doing so, witness their conservation efforts and directly contribute to their ongoing survival.
The 13km long Kyambura Gorge houses a mystical and ancient sunken forest where it is possible to track the ‘lost’ chimpanzees of the gorge and witness their interactions in person. Chimpanzee tracking is active and exciting as they move through the trees above your heads. This is a perfect addition to any gorilla trekking safari to Uganda!
One begins the tracking by descending into the gorge, and then following the river through the forest, crossing bridges where they occur, looking for the chimpanzees. Once you find them you will have the opportunity to take photos and watch the chimps interacting with their group. Within the gorge you may also see other primates such as Colobus monkeys, olive baboons, red tailed monkeys as well as various forest birds beautiful and diverse flora.
Kyambura Gorge Lodge along with its parent company are actively seeking to conserve the chimpanzees of Kyambura Gorge. These chimpanzees, like many vulnerable species across Africa, are at risk from human encroachment which has led to habitat destruction.
The Lodge has been instrumental in launching the Kyambura Gorge Eco-tourism project, an initiative which links the Gorge to the community and uses sustainable tourism to drive conservation forwards. The local community benefit from a range of projects which include educational, community and environmental projects.
The Eco-tourism project has created a buffer zone around the gorge to provide separation between the Gorge rainforest and the inhabited land. This area is currently 3km wide on the northern side of the gorge in which the project, along with volunteers and community support, has planted over 3000 indigenous trees. Guests can also take a guided walk of this area and assist by planting seedlings themselves.
The Explorations Company offers tailored safaris and life changing holidays and vacations to Africa, Asia, Latin America and The Polar Regions. Visit our website for holidays of a lifetime. Holidays Tailored Around Your Needs. In 28 Yrs, No Two Adventures The Same! All Completely Bespoke.
