Colorado’s Historic Carousels Lakeside Merry-Go-Round
Adjacent to Lake Rhode in Lakeside, Colo., gleams the Tower of Jewels, a 150-foot-tall wooden tower built in 1907 originally fitted with 5,000 lights. It is the centerpiece for the Lakeside Amusement Park, a family fun place that opened in 1908 and is still going strong more than 100 years later.

Denver, the capital of Colorado, is an American metropolis dating to the Old West era. Larimer Square, the city’s oldest block, features landmark 19th-century buildings. Museums include the Denver Art Museum, an ultramodern complex known for its collection of indigenous works, and the mansion of famed Titanic survivor Molly Brown. Denver is also a jumping-off point for ski resorts in the nearby Rocky Mountains.
Denver is a vibrant city with plenty of attractions for visitors, plus a diverse collection of neighborhoods that can be attractions in themselves. Many of Denver's older areas are the perfect density for exploration; you'll find an interesting mix of apartments and homes with flowery front gardens, wide flagstone sidewalks, bright green lawns and big, shady trees. Capitol Hill, Highlands, Baker, Berkeley, Uptown, Sloan's Lake, Cheesman, Washington, City and Congress Parks are just some of the neighborhoods bustling with people and places to see.
Denver has many beautiful parks that are full of colorful gardens, meandering paths, crystal clear lakes, abundant wildlife and recreation opportunities. The city has a rich pioneer history, and there are plenty of museums where you can learn all about it. It's also a very environmentally conscious city, with one of the nation’s first municipal “Green Fleets”, public transit vehicles using hybrid and alternative fuel and a city tree-planting initiative. Hop on a green bus, grab a bike or just walk around to discover Denver.
Thanks to a re-urbanization of the city's central core, Denver now has name-worthy neighborhoods with flavors that are all their own – River North (RiNo) for hipster bars and eye-catching street art, Lower Highlands (LoHi) and South Broadway for great eateries and live music, Cherry Creek for glam, Lower Downtown (LoDo) for upscale restaurants and cocktail lounges as well as the Golden Triangle and Santa Fe for arts, theater and museums. In all, there's a neighborhood and a vibe for just about anybody.

Lakeside Amusement Park Violates Colorado State and Federal Law for Person with DIsabilities
On June 27th, 2009 Lakeside Amusement park employees and park management flagrantly violated both Colorado State and Federal laws for persons with disabilities. While Lakeside employees were quick and happy to accept our money for their rides, while we had our service dogs with us, as soon as we attempted to board their scenic train ride, something we have done for years, we were told that service dogs are not allowed on park rides by multiple park employees. Each of these employees, and the park management have committed a class 3 misdemeanor crime as defined by Colorado State Law. To make matters worse, when the Police were called for their assistance they informed the Service Dog Trainers, as well as the persons with disabilities that Lakeside was in compliance with the law. The only possible explanation for this blatant ignorance on the part of the Police Officers is that they had simply never read the Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S. 24-34-801 & C.R.S. 24-34-803) as amusement parks are explicitly included. Persons with disabilities face these challenges every day, public and private people who are oblivious to the challenges persons with disabilities face and now you have an excellent opportunity to view first hand the additional challenges they face that compound their disabilities. To say that the Lakeside Amusement Park management and employees are focused on revenue and not their patrons pleasure would miss the point completely, the willful denial of State and Federal law when shown to them in writing presents a form of cruel and unusual punishment that we save for terrorists in Guantanamo or at some secret CIA prison in far off foreign lands. Domino Dogs is dedicated to persons with disabilities so that they may enjoy life just like the rest of us. Please visit us at to learn more about service dogs and the freedom they bring to persons with disabilities.
