Hi, I'm Charlie! Some time ago (in 2014) I started an internship in Kenya. I haven't left since, because I fell in love with Africa and started my own travel agency, Charlie's Travels. It's specialised in off the beaten track tours, because we think this continent is so much more than just safari tours and beaches. Safari Tanzania! Experience Southern Tanzania Safari with Sand & Safari Company [HD]
When people imagine a safari without realizing it they are visualizing Tanzania. From the vast plains of the Serengeti to the white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean it truly is the ultimate Sand & Safari destination.
Our Tanzania is wild and adventurous with an old world safari style. Each park unique and diverse. We want to tailor make your tour and design it to your individual requirements. Blending your ideas and interests with our intimate knowledge.
Sand
There is no better way to end your safari than on the white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean. Kick back and relax. We can organize it all from a boutique hotel in Stone Town to a secluded beach villa or resort. Tanzania has it all from the Islands of Zanzibar, Mafia or Pemba. Why not explore our underwater wildlife with a diving or snorkeling trip. Let's not forget the mainland has some incredible beach locations too.
Northern Tanzania Safaris
With snow capped Kilimanjaro, vast plains of the Serengeti, red cloaked Maasai warriors and wildlife packed Ngorongoro Crater, these iconic attractions have drawn tourists in their hundreds of thousands for decades. But wait there's more! Mt Meru, the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara and Arusha all add to the diversity of this popular region. The close proximity of all the attractions make for easy tranfers allowing for more time relaxing or on safari.
Southern Tanzania Safaris
A visit to the south of Tanzania and its parks is well off the beaten track. Unlike the north the south receives far less visitors and animals far outnumber 4x4 vehicles! We live nearby in the Southern highlands and have been sending tourists into the regions parks. They always remark that they've enjoyed the contrast over the hectic northern parks and their abundance of tourists. The south offers much better value for money with park fees being considerably lower and with camps of a high standard. The south will provide you with an authentic safari experience within it's various remote and unspoiled parks. This circuit can be arranged with 4x4 vehicle or light aircraft. We also offer escorted safaris. All safaris are tailor made to suit your interests and requirements. Add on Zanzibar to complete your Sand & Safari experience.
Western Tanzania
A few words help sum up the west of the country... Raw, remote, vast, rewarding. Still very much as it was when Stanley found Livingstone here back in 1871. Travel must be meticulously arranged, that's where we come in. The region is largely trackless therefore more adventurous. It contains 2 of the worlds finest Chimp encounter opportunities, made famous thanks to Jane Goodalls incredible research in Gombe Stream NP.
A safari here is intense and unforgettable. Animal numbers can be astounding. Few visitors to the region promises apart from your expert guides you will have the place to yourselves.

Tanzania Safari
In November 2019 we embarked on a lifetime of memories journey to Tanzania. This video is the first five days of the adventure where we get our first look at the traffic and markets in Arusha. Next, we travel to Arusha National Park where we see giraffes and Colobus monkeys as they jump through the trees. We then head to Tarangire National Park known for their high concentration of elephants and encounter a group of fighting Baboons. Within the park, we have a very close encounter with a large tusker elephant.
Along the way, we meet some children and share some cake with them and stop to watch gold panners and a random acrobat that we saw along the way.
We then have a stop for lunch at the village of Mto wa Mbu and enjoy a home-cooked meal and a plantation walk and buy some local art. Finally, we visit the Datoga tribe at Lake Eyasi and watch how they craft arrowheads and create metal bracelets.
In part two we will go on a hunt with the Hadzabe and visit a local market.

Discoveries Africa, Southern Serengeti & The Great Migration Preview
The full length version of this program is available on DVD and Digital download at Bennett-watt.com
Produced by Bennett-Watt HD Video Productions, Inc. HDVideoProduction.net
The Serengeti National Park / Ngorongoro Conservation Area is arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. The Serengeti Plain is a vast expanse of east African bush with over 11,500 square miles and was known as “Maasailand”, named by early explorers for the people who lived here with the wild animals in remarkable harmony. Many believed their harmonious relationship was because they didn’t eat wild animals, other than the Eland. The endless plains of east Africa are the setting for the universe’s greatest wildlife spectacle. It takes place within Kenya and Tanzania and is also known as “The Great Wildebeest Migration”. 1.5 million Wildebeest along with 200,000 Zebra and Gazelle migrate from the vast Serengeti plains to the hills of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, migrating in a clockwise fashion over 1,800 miles each year in search of rain ripened grass. Moving with the migration are predators of all shapes & sizes culling the weak. January to March is calving season, a time when the rains come bringing with them green nourishing grasses for the several hundred thousand calves born each year. Within just a few minutes of birth, a calf will be on it's feet and on the move, seeking it's mothers udder. The mother may move away at this point which will encourage the calf to follow closely. Survival depends on how well these first few minutes go. If the calf does not get on it’s feet in a short amount of time, the mother may abandon it, perpetuating the cycle of survival of the fittest. Arusha is where many artists congregate for Tanzanian handicrafts. Beautiful Makonde Ebony Wood Carving & Tingatinga Oil Painting. In addition to The Great Migration, featured wildlife include... The largest predator on the Serengeti plain, the magnificent Lion, a large cat that can get up to speeds approaching 40 miles an hour in short distances and can leap 30 feet to catch it's prey. Join a large pride of Lions stalking Zebra. Bat-Eared Fox are an interesting burrow dwelling animal. Hyena Pups, Giraffe, Ostrich, Love Birds & Elephants all roam the Southern Serengeti Plains. Enjoy a playful family of Cheetah Cubs & their mom basking in the early morning light. Cheer in excitement for Gazelles as they attack a Jackal that made the mistake of chasing a baby Gazelle. This Jackal might think twice before considering another attack on this particular group of plains dwellers... Gazelle horns can be sharp!
ARUSHA ADVENTURES

Tanzania
Tanzania is a gift, a compelling tale told around the campfire. Tanzania is the prize, unrivalled in its natural abundance.
Each year, across the gold brushed plains of the Serengeti hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra meld into one long unbroken chain of animals moving across the plains with but a single purpose...to follow the rains to greener grasses. This ritual has been reenacted for millennia. Our own human history tracks back to the stony footsteps of our early ancestors at Olduvai Gorge. In addition to the legendary Serengeti, Tanzania offers such gems as Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro; the largest wildlife sanctuary, Selous; and deepest lake, Tanganyika. The Ngorongoro Crater is unique in all the world, an ancient caldera that looks like a giant bowl filled with a hearty selection of nearly every type of East African animal. To the north lie the lush landscapes of Lake Manyara, famed for superb birdlife, and nearby Tarangire National Park offers breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the mountains to the south. Southern Tanzania is Old Africa at its finest. Its remote national parks -- Ruaha, Katavi, Mikumi and Udzungwa Forest, often called the African Galapagos, yield priceless rewards of spectacular solitude and closeness to nature rarely experienced anymore. The Southern Highlands offer the chance to learn about life in the country at a private estate. Miles of white sand beaches on the islands of Zanzibar invite relaxation. Today, private conservancies are leading the way in stepping up to the challenges of sustainability as more travelers begin to discover this tantalizing safari destination. Big Five endorses the use of private conservancies as they work to protect Tanzania's exceptional wildness regions while at the same time offering unprecedented opportunities for health, education and employment to local communities and outstanding safari experiences to our guests. Tanzania is archetypal Africa, and measures taken today can have a positive and profound result on the future of this stellar destination.
