Come Punting with Me | Oxford Punt Magdalen Bridge
On the first Bank Holiday in May, we went punting in Oxford! I've been punting before in Cambridge (although you couldn't tell) but Lin hasn't. Excuse the shaky camera, just getting used to filming - have you been punting before?

The Cherwell Boathouse Oxford
The Cherwell Boathouse Oxford. Riverside Punting on the Cherwell.
The Cherwell Boathouse is an iconic Oxford punt station and restaurant on the banks of the river Cherwell. Established in 1904, the family run Boathouse now has over 80 handmade punts in the water and is an idyllic spot for punting, dining and picnics.
The Teahut Bar and Cafe is open in season and serves light food and drinks on a river terrace whilst our restaurant is open all year round. With an alfresco terrace on the decking in the summer, Cherwell is the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon.

Situated underneath Magdalen College Tower, at the lower end of Oxford's world famous high street you will find Magdalen Bridge Boathouse. Here you can hire traditionally crafted punts, rowing boats and pedalos or spoil yourself by hiring a Chauffeured boat. We can also supply a pre-ordered picnic hamper with your chauffeured punt if requested.
You can hire a boat at the Magdalen Bridge Boathouse for just an hour or if you want to make a day of it, take a picnic and stay out on the river as long as you like, simply returning the punt to the boathouse at least half an hour before sunset.
As you set off south from the boathouse you glide gently past Oxford's famous Botanic Gardens, through Christ Church College Meadows, where Lewis Carroll taught in the mid-19th century when he wrote the famous Alice Through the Looking Glass (1871) and Alice in Wonderland (1865). Then either take the river left past St Hilda's College gardens, past the stunning Magdalen School rose gardens, under the miniature white bridges and back past the Botanic Gardens to the Boathouse. Or alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous, continue south towards the Isis (Oxford's name for the River Thames), along the entire Christ Church Meadow to where the river opens up allowing you to enjoy this stunning natural river environment.
Another option is to travel north from the Boathouse, past Magdalen College Tower and up past the Angel and Greyhound meadows, past Magdalen College gardens and into Oxford's stunning countryside
