Meteora Monastery Tour with Meteora Thrones - Cinematic
My solo trip starting in Amsterdam, through 10 countries via Eurail, has finally come to an end. I took my last Eurail train from Thessaloniki with a connection where I met up with 6 travel bloggers in my Greece group. Elena, Chrysoula, Mansoureh, Bruno, Daryl and Mindi were all on the same train from Athens that I was supposed to catch at my layover. It was great to see them after 5 weeks of traveling on my own, I could now relax and let someone else navigate and figure out what to do all the time.
Don't get me wrong, traveling on my own was great, it gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of people along the way, which I wouldn't have done in the comfort of a group. It was such a nice experience, but just very tiring being on guard, watching my bag, figuring out how the trains, trams, buses and taxis all work, plus the currency exchange in most countries. Now I was just along for the ride, and what a ride it was!
We were picked up by our driver from Meteora Thrones, our hotel was just a couple blocks away, but they were nice enough to take us there, get us situated in our hotel, then we were off to dinner at the Meteora Restaurant. Wow was the food good here, and so inexpensive. We even got a kitchen tour and got to see the dishes simmering in those big pots, everything was so good.
The following morning we had a quick breakfast at the hotel, then were off on our monastery tour. Meteora is incredible, it's like Zion National Park with monasteries built on the top of the huge cliffs. Just amazing, we got to visit a few, but saw so many from the road, lots of photo ops. We ended with a sunset view, it was pretty cloudy so the sunset wasn't epic, but we got a nice beam of sunlight peaking through the clouds for a nice shot.
That night we were treated to dinner at Valia Calda. That was such a good meal, dish after dish was so delicious. I hadn't had too much Greek food before this trip, just the basics. I was very impressed with the traditional Greek dishes, so good!
The next morning we had a hike to a monastery, it was nice to get out of the bus and walk around. We saw some really cool sights, got some exercise and enjoyed the outdoors. Very nice day full of great scenery and lots of photos.
We stopped back in town for one last meal, then took the train to Athens. Thanks again Meteora Thrones for such an amazing time, the best views in Greece!

Welcome to the most amazing place worldwide … METEORA
Meteora is one of the most significant monuments in the world, protected by UNESCO , situated at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly in central Greece.
In the 11th century, the first hermits came on the untrodden peaks of the imposing rocks and build the hermitage of Doupiani. In the 14th century, holy Athanasios Meteoritis formed the first organized monastic community on the rocks of Great Meteoron. Twenty four monasteries, many cells and hermitages flourished, spread on all the rocks for more than 600 years.
Nowadays, only the monasteries of Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Holy Trinity, St. Stephen, Rousanou and St. Nicholas Anapafsas still exist and are in use.
Everyday, innumerable visitors gather here from all four corners of the world to meditate and pray. They get to know the life of the monks, admire the indescribable nature and the artistic architecture and agiography , and study the invaluable historic remains.

Wycieczka do obiektu z listy światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Meteory (gr. Μετέωρα (Meteora) z gr. metéoros – wzniesiony w górę, będący wysoko w powietrzu) – masyw skał z piaskowca i zlepieńca w środkowej Grecji na północno-zachodnim krańcu równiny tesalskiej w okolicy miasta Kalampaka. Skały osiągają wysokość do 540 m n.p.m.

Wiki: Delphi is famous as the ancient sanctuary that grew rich as the seat of Pythia, the oracle who was consulted about important decisions throughout the ancient classical world. Moreover, the Greeks considered Delphi the navel (or centre) of the world, as represented by the stone monument known as the Omphalos of Delphi.
It occupies an impressive site on the south-western slope of Mount Parnassus, overlooking the coastal plain to the south and the valley of Phocis. It is now an extensive archaeological site with a small modern town of the same name nearby. It is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in having had a phenomenal influence in the ancient world, as evidenced by the rich monuments built there by most of the important ancient Greek city-states, demonstrating their fundamental Hellenic unity.

Meteora Greece - Suspended in Air
I put this aerial drone video together to display the phenomenal beauty of Meteora Greece during the fall from a perspective that few people have ever seen before.
This video was shot entirely using the DJI Inspire Pro Drone, the new X5 Micro 4/3 Camera and MFT 15mm f/1.7 Lens. Editing and color grading was done using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Meteora holds a very special place in my heart since it was one of the first places I visited back in 2010 when I was aggressively trying to build my travel photography portfolio. I knew it would be the perfect location to put my new DJI X5 Camera to good use.

The Meteora (pronounced /ˌmɛtɪˈɔːrə/[1]; Greek: Μετέωρα, pronounced [mɛˈtɛoɾɐ]) is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos.[2] The six monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area. It is located near the town of Kalambaka at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains.
Meteora is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
