West Palm Beach is a city in South Florida. It's separated from neighboring Palm Beach by the Lake Worth Lagoon. Downtown’s Clematis Street and CityPlace districts are filled with restaurants, shops, bars and clubs. The Norton Museum of Art displays American, European and Chinese art, including Impressionist paintings. Nearby, the 4-theater Kravis Center for the Performing Arts hosts concerts, plays, dance and opera.
West Palm Beach is located immediately to the west of the adjacent Palm Beach, which is situated on a barrier island across the Lake Worth Lagoon. It is the oldest incorporated municipality in Greater Miami, having been incorporated as a city two years before Miami in November 1894. West Palm Beach is located approximately 68 miles (109 km) north of Downtown Miami.
The beginning of the historic period in south Florida is marked by Juan Ponce de León's first contact with native people in 1513. The area that was to become West Palm Beach was settled in the late 1870s and 1880s by a few hundred settlers who called the vicinity Lake Worth Country.
Bel Air Historic District: Developed from 1925 to 1935 as a neighborhood for tradesmen and real estate salesmen who helped develop Palm Beach County, some of Belair was originally a pineapple plantation owned by Richard Hone. Central Park is a collective name for several subdivisions north of Southern Boulevard. It originally was part of the Estates of South Palm Beach (which went from Wenonah Place to Pilgrim Road east of Dixie Highway). Like other West Palm Beach neighborhoods, the Estates of South Palm Beach boomed after Henry Flagler's descent on Palm Beach.
Noted for its Mediterranean revival and mission-style homes, El Cid developed in the height of Florida's real estate boom. In the late 19th century, most of the land north of Sunset Road was pineapple fields, but the crop dwindled in the early 20th century. Pittsburgh socialite Jay Phipps subdivided the old pineapple fields in the 1920s. Originally a pineapple plantation, Flamingo Park was established by local contractors and developers, who saw the potential in this area—one of the highest coastal ridge sections from downtown West Palm Beach to Miami.
One of the city's oldest neighborhoods still intact, Grandview Heights was built as an extension of Palm Beach Heights from around 1910 to 1925. Almost all of Palm Beach Heights and half of Grandview Heights was demolished in 1989 to make way for the proposed Downtown/Uptown project, which became CityPlace. Mango Promenade became a West Palm Beach historic district in 1995 and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. Lies just south of Palm Beach Atlantic University.
West Palm Beach's first historic district to be included on the National Register of Historic Places (February 1992), the Northwest neighborhood was first settled in 1894, when the black community was moved from the Styx in Palm Beach to West Palm Beach. Old Northwood was developed from 1920 to 1927—the height of the city's real estate boom. The Pinewood Development Co., platted and developed the area. On August 4, 2003, the City Commission designated the Northwood Hills neighborhood as the 13th Historic District in the City of West Palm Beach. Northwood Hills comprises the area from 29th Street on the South to 39th Court on the North. The east side of Windsor is the Western boundary, and Greenwood Avenue is the Eastern boundary.
Promoted as a high-end neighborhood patterned after the prominent Prospect Park district in Brooklyn, this area consisted of mostly smaller estates for prominent businesspeople and northern investors. Cashing in on the real estate boom, developers of West Northwood built speculative and custom houses for upper-middle-class professionals from 1925 to '27.

Lake Worth Girls | Renan Estime (Florida Guide)
Top things you should know about the wonderful yet slightly crazy women of lake worth Florida. Lake Worth is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States, which takes its name from the body of water 28 GRAMZ LIVING IN LAKE WORTHalong its eastern border, originally called Lake Worth, and now generally known as the Lake Worth Lagoon. The lake itself was named for General William J. Worth, who led U.S. forces during the last part of the Second Seminole War. As of 2010, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau was 34,910.[3] The city is included in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach Metropolitan Area, which is home to approximately 5,563,857 people.[6Lake Worth was incorporated as the Town of Lake Worth in June 1913. Many of the first residents were farmers from other parts of the American south and mid-west, looking to benefit from the growing winter 28 GRAMZ LIVING IN LAKE WORTH vegetable market of the time. The city benefited with the rest of south Florida during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. A wooden automobile 28 GRAMZ LIVING IN LAKE WORTHtraffic bridge over Lake Worth was completed in 1919. The first casino and municipal beach complex was completed shortly thereafter. The 1920s also saw the completion of the Gulf Stream Hotel, now on the National Register of Historic Places. Lake worth
28 GRAMZ LIVING IN LAKE WORTH The city was severely damaged in the 1928 hurricane, toppling the bell tower on the elementary school (today the City Hall Annex) and destroying the beachfront lake worth casino and automobile bridge over Lake Worth. This led to a severe economic decline within the community, during the Great Depression. Things were so dire in the city in the 1930s, that lake worth President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration built a striking, moorish-styled City Gymnasium on the corner of Lake Avenue and Dixie Highway. The building today serves as City Hall. Bloomberg News and The Miami Herald both ran articles last week on the South Florida drought and watering restrictions. Per The Herald, Wellington, a wealthy Palm Beach Couinty enclave of about 5,000 people 60 miles north of here, has issued about 140 violations so far, resulting in over $25,000 in fines. Miami Beach, a city of 100,000, has yet to issue its first. (They brag about having issued THREE warnings. This is after investigating 27 complaints out of several hundred they've received since mid-March, when the water restrictions took effect, and shelving the rest.)
Both articles referred to me personally, and to this site, because I'm trying to shame these people into compliance since the city won't fine them into it, and they blatantly violate them because they know the city won't cite them.
OK Miami Beach Code Enforcement, here's your chance to avoid a lawsuit--2 of the 3 warnings you've issued so far were to Il Villagio condominium, 1255 Ocean Drive, as a result of my postings here.
Here they are sprinkling again, at 2:45 pm Sunday afternoon, 6/10/07. Links to this are being e-mailed to Curtis Morgan at the Herald and Steve Matthews at Bloomberg (the reporters who did the stories), and to my contact at the Water District headquarters, who has been considering going to court with you, Fort Lauderdale, Key Biscayne, Golden Beach, Bal Harbour, Hallandale Beach, and any other municipality who refuses to do water enforcement.

Christopher Saltzburg, your local Real Estate Agent in Delray Beach
Hello everyone. My name is Christopher Saltzburg and I'm a realtor in Delray Beach, Florida. I help clients buy and sell homes, properties, vacation homes, rentals, investment properties throughout Palm Beach County, but I make my home in the charming, idyllic beach town of Delray Beach. I'm excited to tell you some of the things I love about this town and why I live here, and some of the things that I don't like nearly as much. Most of those negative things are symptoms of the popularity of this amazing town.
Before we talk about that, I'm going to give you a little bit of a history on Delray Beach. You'll see behind me the map showing you exactly where Delray is located on the Southeast coast of Florida, between West Palm Beach to the North and Fort Lauderdale to the South. A few years ago the New York Times wrote an article about Delray Beach titled Style Without Attitude. That was a perfect title, but it described a history back in the early '90s where Delray Beach had really lost its polish. The prime downtown street Atlantic Avenue had half the stores and restaurants boarded up. It was a little rough around the edges. But as we got into the mid, late '90s, early 2000s, Delray has become a gem. It's regained its former glory and probably even exceeded its glory that it's ever had in history, and there's a lot of reasons why. I'm going to share some of those reasons with you right now in this video.
The first, of course, is the natural beauty of the Delray Municipal Beach. There's lots of beaches in Florida that are beautiful, but Delray Municipal Beach has some unique attributes that make it a true gem among Florida beaches. First of all, it is broad, wide with perfect sand and the crystal blue waters influenced by the Gulf Stream that comes very close to the coastline of Delray Beach. Additionally, the municipal beach, the stretch of beach along downtown Delray, has no construction right on the beach. So there's none of those big high rises or mega mansions that you see in much of the coastline of Florida, it's just natural dunes. But although it has that serene feel, you are right next to Atlantic Avenue, tons of great restaurants, bars, boutiques, shops, all the energy that downtown Delray has to offer is just steps away from this beautiful, pristine municipal beach.
Our municipal beach has lifeguards, so if you're there with friends, family, children, you know that they'll be saved swimming. Once in a while we get a great swell, you'll see some surfers out there. We get a real nice swell under certain conditions. The rest of the time, our beach is like bath water. It's like a beautiful warm, pristine swimming pool.
The popularity of our amazing beach here in Delray leads to the first thing that I don't like as much about Delray Beach, and that is parking. Parking can be a little difficult in downtown Delray, especially at the beach on a beautiful weekend or holiday. All parking is paid in downtown Delray. I recommend downloading the ParkMobile parking app, makes it a lot easier. It's fairly inexpensive, but you have to definitely pay for it to avoid a ticket. There are some lots. There's some lots near the Sandoway Nature Center, there's a lot by the Marriott Hotel, there's a lot of parallel street parking, but on a busy day it can be almost impossible to find a parking spot.
So with a little bit of planning and logistics ... Remember, you can always rent a beach chair and umbrella so you don't have to lug that with you to the beach. Just about anywhere you're living, staying, or even visiting for the day, you can find parking. But if you want to be right at the beach parking can be a little difficult, so just plan ahead for that.
I will also download ... excuse me, I will also have a link to the Delray Beach Parking Guide in the description below this video. So, I love the beach, and a lot of other people do too, which leads to the first thing I don't like about Delray and that's difficulty parking. Stay tuned for part two of what I love and what I don't love so much about Delray Beach, Florida.

Driving Downtown Streets - U.S. Route 1 - Miami Florida USA - Episode 22.
Starting Point: U.S. Route 1 (Biscayne Boulevard and Brickell Avenue) -
U.S. Route 1 (US 1) is a major north–south U.S. Highway that serves the East Coast of the United States. The highway connects most of the major cities of the east coast, including Miami, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston, passing from the Southeastern United States to New England.
Brickell Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard are the main north-south roads, and Flagler Street is the main east-west road.
Miami is a seaport city on the Atlantic Ocean in south Florida. As the seat of Miami-Dade County, the municipality is the principal, central, and most populous of its metropolitan area and part of the second-most populous metropolis in the southeastern United States.[8][9] According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Miami's metro area is the eighth-most populous and fourth-largest urban area in the U.S., with a population of around 5.5 million.[10][11]
Miami is a major center, and a leader in finance, commerce, culture, media, entertainment, the arts, and international trade.[12][13] In 2012, Miami was classified as an Alpha−World City in the World Cities Study Group's inventory.[14] In 2010, Miami ranked seventh in the United States in terms of finance, commerce, culture, entertainment, fashion, education, and other sectors. It ranked 33rd among global cities.[15] In 2008, Forbes magazine ranked Miami America's Cleanest City, for its year-round good air quality, vast green spaces, clean drinking water, clean streets, and city-wide recycling programs.[16] According to a 2009 UBS study of 73 world cities, Miami was ranked as the richest city in the United States, and the world's fifth-richest city in terms of purchasing power.[17] Miami is nicknamed the Capital of Latin America [1] and is the largest city with a Cuban-American plurality.[18]
Downtown Miami is home to the largest concentration of international banks in the United States, and many large national and international companies.[19][20] The Civic Center is a major center for hospitals, research institutes, medical centers, and biotechnology industries. For more than two decades, the Port of Miami, known as the Cruise Capital of the World, has been the number one cruise passenger port in the world. It accommodates some of the world's largest cruise ships and operations, and is the busiest port in both passenger traffic and cruise lines.
