Richard Andrews | April 2012
The Ulrich Salon Circle closed out the 2011-2012 year with an illustrated presentation by one of the leading voices in public art, Richard Andrews, public art director and former museum director, on April 26, 2012.
Richard Andrews was the founding director of Art in Public Places in Seattle, one of the country's very first governmental entities to create new art for its public buildings. He then directed the Visual Arts Program for the National Endowment for the Arts. Andrews returned to Seattle to direct the University of Washington's art museum for over 20 years. There he expanded the campus public art collection.
Andrews remains very active in the realm of public art, and currently serves as president of the Skystone Foundation, which is the organization responsible for the fundraising, administration, and realization of James Turrell's Roden Crater project. During his Salon Circle presentation, Andrews reflected on his remarkable career and the state of art all around us today.
