Horse Riding in Colorado
In this episode of Cheap Family Travel ( Nick Regan, Maggie, and Kate had a great time horse riding in Colorado. Today, we enjoyed a day in Estes Park horseback riding with National Park Gateway Stables. Gateway Stables in Estes Park, Colorado, is the only local stable that is licensed to ride into Rocky Mountain National Park, and our guide took Cheap Family Travel on a leisurely trip up and down mountains, along Falls River, to Little Horseshoe Park, and through the wildflowers of Hidden Meadow. National Park Gateway horse riding stables is just outside of the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and its sister stable, Cowpoke Corner Corral gives rides out of Glacier Lodge in Estes Park. A family vacation in Colorado wouldn't be complete without horseback riding. Estes Park Colorado horseback riding is best when it leaves town and enters the forest, and only National Park Gateway Stables can do that. We had a great ride.

Deseert varnish on the rocks of Colorado National Monument, Grand Junction, Colorado
Desert varnish (also called rock varnish) forms on stable rock surfaces from particles of clay along with iron and manganese oxides and some trace elements and organic matter. The color of the varnish varies from shades of brown to black and can be seen of rock surfaces from many kilometres away.
In this video I'm hiking the Liberty Cap, Ute Canyon, and corkscrew trails where the City of Grand Junction (and the Grand Valley) are clearly visible - and, the desert varnish can be seen from down below as well.
