New Zealand Top Water Kingfish
8th-14th March 2016 in Tauranga New Zealand
I brought Japanese visitors Yama and Hana down to Tauranga to fish with Aquatek Charters.
Yama is one of the pioneers of top water fishing for kingfish, as well as jigging with assist style hooks. Their charter vessel in Japan holds the world record Northern hemisphere kingfish at 49.5kg. This cements this couple as two of most high profile anglers targeting kingfish in Japan.
The kiwi yellowtails didn’t disappoint in numbers, albeit large fish were scarce on our day’s out. I quite lost count of the number of fish they caught on day one fishing around Tuhua. Certainly upwards of fifty fish released on a day when the ‘bite’ just didn’t stop. Several fish were also caught top water and we concluded the day with a spectacular top water triple hook-up at Tuhua reef. Day two was harder and sea conditions less favourable, but several fish were again boated.

Fishing for skipjack, New Zealand, Northland
Headed out for some King fish at the Hen a and Chicks and came back with a few primo fat skipjack tuna, these fish are a lot of fun to catch on light gear because they go on line blistering runs and can produce amazing surface strikes as seen on the video.

Family Vacation in the Bahamas 2017
Our family charter boat vacation (Dayna, Quinn, Rebecca, Eric) to the Bahama Islands June 2017 with my good friend Terry and family. Great times, but bad weather and a bad anchor caused a decent amount of sleepless nights.

November / December Round Up 2019
Hey Team,
With only a few days before Christmas I thought it would be best to give an update of what we have been up to for the past two months.
Going forward we will be posting regular monthly round ups of what we have been up too, whats working well for us, whats biting, a few tips and tricks and of course what's coming up.
Huge thanks to everyone that has fished with us in 2019 both here in New Zealand and overseas and of course a huge shout out to everyone that has tuned in to our JOAF videos.
Merry Christmas
Adios
Tony, Bea, Sami and Brooke
