Tanganyika (1961)
M/S of a cruise liner coming towards a harbour. Various shots of yachts sailing on the water of the harbour of Dar-es-Salaam at Tanzania (or Tanganyika) in Africa; men in shorts and girls in bikinis are seen on one of the yachts.
M/S on the wharf showing porters carrying sacks and boxes. Various shots in the marketplace showing stalls of fruit, and a man cutting tobacco into little parcels. C/U of a pile of mangoes (?). M/Ss of a sisal plantation; hundreds of spiky-leaved plants beside the sea. A man is seen cutting the leaves off a plant; women arrange sisal fibres over hundreds of lines in a field. M/S and C/Us of two Masai warriors in traditional costume; beaded necklaces and earrings.
L/S of a small plane (East African Airways) landing on a red earthy runway in the highlands. Nice M/S of several western tourists coming out of the plane. They climb in the back of a Land Rover with open sides, and are driven to a national park or game reserve. In a lake there we see some hippos bathing in the water (only eyes and ears seen!) while the tourists take photos and film with cine cameras. Another Land Rover is seen driving over a plain; tourists look through the open top to see a lion standing over it's kill (L/S). M/Ss of a lioness; a hyena.
M/S of the clock tower at Arusha; commentator says the tower is precisely halfway between Cairo and the Cape of Good Hope. Other buildings in the town look quite modern. M/Ss of the market place; Africans carrying baskets on their heads; people examining fabrics; traders sitting on the ground with mats displaying their produce before them.
M/S of a swimming pool (probably on the slopes of Mount Meru) as a girl dives in; some middle-aged westerners sit at a table with a beer and watch. M/S of a young couple in dressing gowns eating breakfast on their hotel balcony; the man looks through binoculars at the view; L/S of the countryside on the lower slopes of the mountains; lots of trees, then thinning out towards the coast (I think - it's a bit misty).
M/Ss of a group of tourists setting out on a walk in shorts and walking boots; they walk past some exotic blossoms on a tree and off over a plain; some carry backpacks. M/S of two men stopping to take in the view; they look rather 'Englishman abroad' in their pullovers and woolly hats; one wears a cravat. L/S of Mount Kilimanjaro rising majestically into the clouds. Various shots of the snow covered mountains from the air, including brief M/S from behind the driver of our plane. Amazing shot of Kilimajaro's ice-crater in the sunshine.
Cuts exist - see separate record.

Makasa is an independent tour operator in Moshi, Tanzania. We organize tailor-made tours for individuals as well as groups of up to approximately twenty people.

But apart from safaris, we also organize adventure tours to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, as well as holidays of a lifetime to the sun-soaked beaches of Zanzibar.
All options are open, in every imaginable combination. The secret of Makasa’s success lies in our personal service and approach. We will help you plan and organize the entire tour package of your choice, carefully considering aspects such as group composition, available budget and travelling schedule. Based on the outcome of these considerations, we will work with you to optimize your itinerary and set up the arrangements down to the finest detail.

African Safari 1974 Part 1
African Roadways Safari through Kenya and Tanzania in November 1974. Two other TWA flight attendants, Chris and Jean, and I began our safari in Nairobi, Kenya. We traveled to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, where we stayed at Keekorok Lodge, and then on to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.
African market, Tanzania, Africa.
Live filming on village market in Tanzania Africa.
New video from BeekeeperStories - typical village market in Tanzania, Africa. It's noisy, hectic and very busy. Markets like this are best place to photograph and video in Africa. It's a big part of African life. Some people screamed at me, but nothing serious. I tried to give a feeling of walking through African market, seeing African people in their environment, seeing African fruit and vegetables.

Hungry Lions of Tanzania
Nancy and I have made three trips to Africa since 2006. Each was a photo safari for the purpose of videoing and photographing the wildlife of the African bush. In 2006, we traveled to and visited the countiries of Kenya and Tanzania, with the greatest emphasis being on the national parks of both Kenya and Tanzania, and the larggest and most important being the Serengeti, a World Heritage site, and one of the largest national parks in the world. In the same trip, we lodged at and visit the Ngorongo crater, another World Heritage site, adjacent to the Serengeti. In 2008, we chose only to visit Tanzania because of the civil unrest in Kenya in 2007. However, during this trip we first visited Selous Wildlife Refuge in the southern part of Tanzania, one of the largest wildlife refuges in the world. On both occasions, our guide was Baraza Saloho of Arusha, with whom we developed a close friendship. Both of those safaris were to East Africa. In 2011, we once again traveled to Africa, but this time it was to two countries in the southern part of the country, Botswana, home to the Okovango Delta, the only land locked delta in the world, and a nation teeming with wildlife; and Zambia, home of the magnificent Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. We traveled in open vehicles, usually a Toyota Land Cruiser in Kenya and Tanzania, and other safari vehicles in the southern nations. We have traveled all over the world, but, in our collective opinions, nothing compares with Africa for a videographer and photographer. This is just a small portion of our hundreds of hours of video. This video was shot on our last morning in the Serengeti just before we were scheduled to board a four passenger fixed wing aircraft to Arusha. Enjoy!
