We took our spring trip to Moab, Utah for some white water fun. The whole area (Castle Valley) is absolutely spectacular. We camped high up on Porcupine Rim, past the sand flats, way above the river. Recommended river run for a more mellow experience.

Camp LIA: Summer Adventure in Moab
Sixteen urban Latino high school students from Utah kicked off their summer vacation with an unforgettable Take It Outside! weekend adventure on the Colorado River near Moab.
The students slept out under the stars, braved high water runoff, and crushed Class I-II rapids on an overnight river raft trip provided by BLM-Utah, in partnership with Latinos In Action (LIA) and O.A.R.S. Canyonlands, Inc.
Mentors from LIA, the BLM, U.S. Forest Service, and Friends of Arches and Canyonlands Parks shared their insights about education paths and careers in natural resources. The O.A.R.S. river guides demonstrated the value of respecting the environment, looking out for each other, and how to take care of themselves outdoors. Five students from Logan High School were honored with internships to participate as peer leaders.
The students—many of whom had never been camping before-- became fast friends as they shared an action-packed, multi-day outdoor experience. The participants camped and hiked on public lands managed by the BLM-Utah's Moab Field Office; exploring red rock canyons, discovering desert wildlife, and even studying dinosaur tracks.
The learning and fun will continue throughout the summer with Camp LIA day trips to recreation areas in northern Utah, thanks to a partnership with outdoor leadership school Splore. Recreational opportunities include paddle boarding and rock climbing.
All this comes about from cooperation among a team of incredible partners: Latinos In Action; O.A.R.S. Canyonlands, Inc.; Friends of Arches and Canyonlands Parks; National Park Service, Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program; The Outdoor Foundation; Utah State University; US Forest Service Uintah-Wasatch-Cache; Bureau of Reclamation Upper Colorado Region, and Splore.

A huge shoutout to all of the river rats, especially the guides Aaron, Ben, Brian, Joel, McKenna, and most of all Russell, that came along this extensive journey with us. It was great to have and meet you aboard the rafts! Hopefully we will stay in touch. If anybody needs my phone number for any questions or concerns, it is 818-54O-8O33. I really hope you enjoyed this video, and make sure to show it to all of your friends and family. And if you truly enjoyed it, please please please take one minute to leave a comment on how i did. This video took hours to put together (probably a total of 10) and i would really appreciate your honest feedback. My apologies if you did not make it in the video; I lost the 16gb SD card with the first two days of this trip. Most of it was the RZR UTVing that we did prior to this trip, but it sucks that i lost that valuable footage.
Thanks again for watching, and I hope you enjoyed it! Take it easy friends! -Anthony Bonvino

Roadschool Fieldtrip | Arches National Park | Moab Utah
We packed up in the morning and headed toward Moab Utah. We knew the weather was about 10 degrees hotter in Moab than where we just were. We were looking forward spending a couple hours driving in the car so we could have air conditioning for a little while.
We had read online that it's best to get to Arches early because the line to get in the gate can take several hours. We were glad we listened to that advice because we saw the place get much busier as the day went on. Several of the parking lots were quite congested and took a while to find a place to park. We were able to find parking at all the places we wanted to stop, it just took a while.
With the hot dry weather, we choose easy short hikes for our exploring. It was awesome to be out there and see the arches, some up close, others from a distance. There are over 2000 of them. They come in all sizes.
One of our favorite was actually a small one. It was the sand dune arch. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand that was all around it and climbing the rocks under it. The adults liked it because it was shaded with a nice breeze. It was a good respite from the hot temperatures.
This is a place we'd love to come back to during a cooler time of year. There are many hikes we'd love to do, but in the heat it was just too much. We would have melted into puddles in the hot sun.
Our day at Arches was a good quick glimpse into what the park has to offer. We had an enjoyable day with friends, watched the film in the visitor center, earned Jr. Ranger badges and did several short hikes. We look forward to the time when we can go back and explore some more.

Dirt Bike Utah - Coral Pink Wash, Utah
This awesome wash at the base of the Coral Pink Sand Dunes near Kanab Utah goes for miles. The cool thing about it is the state has set up signs to keep it one direction to avoid accidents and traffic jams. What I'm saying is you can race your buddies and not worry about someone coming the opposite direction.

Birding from a Paddleboard! Birding the Colorado River in Moab, Utah
#birding #utah #paddleboarding
Rivers are the arteries of the deserts of Western North America, riparian corridors that countless species use to traverse the inhospitable terrain. Birds migrate up and down these rivers, and sometimes some unusual species show up, like a vagrant canada warbler a saw several years ago. Many birds breed in the tamarisk thickets, and inspecting them closely can yield a multitude of species. One of the best ways to see them is to float down the river and inspect every mile of the river on a grand adventure combining either rafting or kayaking, or in my case paddleboarding.
On the trip we saw many species
Say's Pheobe
Black Pheobe
Bullock's Oriole
Violet-green Swallow
Cliff Swallow
Great Blue Heron
Turkey Vulture
Spotted Sandpiper
Western Kingbird
Western Tanager
Spotted Towhee
Black-headed Grosebeak
Common Raven
Blue Grosebeak
Black-chinned Hummingbird
White-throated Swift
and the Yellow-breasted Chat
along with many songs, calls and facts about many of the species.
This was a strange video to make, I was dissatisfied with my original Birding Moab Video, and so made this video, which is far longer than anticipated. It was more like editing gaming footage than my typical videos, paring down footage instead of building it up.
