Loukoumi , Agios Nikolaos, Porto Lagos, Greece, Europe
Turkish delight, lokum or rahat lokum and many other transliterations is a family of confections based on a gel of starch and sugar. Premium varieties consist largely of chopped dates, pistachios, and hazelnuts or walnuts bound by the gel; traditional varieties are often flavored with rosewater, mastic, Bergamot orange, or lemon. The confection is often packaged and eaten in small cubes dusted with icing sugar, copra, or powdered cream of tartar, to prevent clinging. Other common flavors include cinnamon and mint. In the production process, soapwort may be used as an emulsifying additive. The origin of the confection is not well established, but it is known to have been produced in Turkey as early as the late 1700s.
In Greece, Turkish Delight, known as loukoumi, has been a very popular delicacy since the 19th century, famously produced in the city of Patras, Patrina loukoumia, as well as on the island of Syros and the northern Greek cities Thessaloniki, Serres and Komotini but elsewhere as well. Loukoumi is a common traditional treat, routinely served instead of biscuits along with coffee. In addition to the common rosewater and bergamot varieties, Mastic-flavored loukoumi is available and very popular. Another sweet, similar to loukoumi, that is made exclusively in the town of Serres, is Akanés.

Turkish coffee, Agios Nikolaos, Porto Lagos, Greece, Europe
Turkish coffee is a method of preparing very finely ground unfiltered coffee. Turkish coffee is made by boiling very finely ground coffee beans with water and optionally sugar in a special coffee pot called cezve, then serving the result into cups, where the grounds are left to settle. Sugar, if any, is added to the initial mixture, before boiling. The boiling is done carefully, so that as soon as the mixture begin to froth, and before it boils over, about one-third of the coffee is distributed to individual cups; the remaining amount is returned to the fire to froth a second time, then distributed to the cups. When ordering a Turkish coffee, the amount of sugar is specified, from no sugar to with little sugar or with moderate sugar, heavily sugared. In Greece, Turkish coffee was formerly referred to simply as 'Turkish'. But political tensions with Turkey in the 1960s led to the political euphemism 'Greek coffee', which became even more popular after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974: ... Greek-Turkish relations at all levels became strained, Turkish coffee became Greek coffee by substitution of one Greek word for another while leaving the Arabic loan-word, for which there is no Greek equivalent, unchanged. There were even advertising campaigns promoting the name Greek coffee in the 1990's, which acknowledged the usage of Turkish: Thousands of Greeks follow the habit of calling their beloved coffee 'Turkish'.

Τhe monastery of Agios Nikolaos in Porto Lagos is a monument to the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi of Mount Athos. The complex is built on two small islands in the Porto Lagos lagoon and gathers many visitors - pilgrims, due to the magnificent view of the Thracian Sea.

This is one of the most hidden places and maybe for this reason more beautiful and wild of the entire island.
To get there you have to pass through the mountains village of Agios Leon and from there following the signs, driving down a recently asphalted road running down to the sea and ending in a small square where you can park.
From there getting down a few steps carved in the rock, you reach a real fiord stupefying the visitor for the clearness and colours of the waters.
It is easy to imagine that in this place there are no many tourist facilities, only recently two terraces with loungers and umbrellas have been created but are not always enough for the request.
