Bobby Gaines returns to one of his favorite malls, Providence Place in Rhode Island and the result is another fun and memorable Mall Tour -- this time featuring some new fans!
Ryan and Kevin from That's Fine Productions guest star in the 5th Mall Tour of the year as we explore the large Providence Place Mall, checking out the food court, Thai ice cream, Legos, a secret Nordstrom cafe and much more!
As always this has been one of my favorite malls to check out each year and getting to meet my Mall Tour fans made it even more special! So check out the fun and as always, subscribe to Bobby Productions for all the latest on Mall Tour 2018!
MALL TOUR 2016 : Providence Place Mall (Providence, RI)
New faces, new places, new malls.
This year, it's Mall or Nothing!
In my first return to Providence Place since the infamous Pixels trip of 2015, Katelynn and I explore nearly every square inch of this massive monolith of a mall, even taking to the city streets at one point to see everything that Providence Place has to offer (including a CVS!)
This was definitely one of my favorite Mall Tours to make. While I've been to Providence Place before, it's usually to see a movie or use their arcade or restaurants. This time, we really explored the place and even found some areas I hadn't been familiar with.
The ending is also highly unexpected, but exciting.
Thanks as always for watching and stay tuned for more great Mall Tour videos as Mall Tour 2016 progresses on

MALL TOUR 2015 : Providence Place Mall (Providence, RI)
Pandemonium in Providence Place soon leads to the Premier of Pixels at the iMax cinemas.
This was an excellent night and a great second stop on Mall Tour 2015 as John, Jeff, and new-comer David, and I explore the massive 3 floor mall in Providence, Rhode Island (after getting lost of course).
The big event of the night was seeing the movie Pixels, but there was plenty more fun to be had around the Food Court and various stores of the mall.
Enjoy the video and stay tuned for future installments of Mall Tour 2015 as the summer goes on
MALL TOUR 2017 : Providence Place Mall (Providence, RI)
The 14th (and possibly final) 2017 Mall Tour takes Bobby and company to a familiar sight during the holidays. It's yet another return to Providence Place Mall and making their Bobby Productions debuts are Lex & Nicole to provide a new take on an old classic.
As always I can't say how thankful I am for my wonderful friends who have accompanied me on 25 Mall Tours over the past 2 years across 5 different states. It's been a wild ride as always and if this was indeed the conclusion, then I can say it was a wonderful journey all around.
A Glimpse Of Providence Place - Rhode Island Largest Mall | Brief Review / Travel Vlog By Aiman
After his 2-week summer program at Brown University ended on July 6, 2018, Aiman and his family had to head up north from Providence, RI to Cambridge, MA to pick up Hizami at Harvard. While en-route they decided to stop by at the Providence Place. It is a beautiful mall and Aiman decided to do a quick vlogging video for those who have never been to this mall before. It is not the best mall in the world, but it is a good place to stop if you're travelling in the area.
Providence Place Mall is a large shopping center located in the downtown area of Providence Rhode Island. This mall is the largest in Rhode Island and one of the largest in Southern New England.
Providence Place Mall is probably the best choice in the area. There are plenty of great stores, entertainment options, and restaurants. The Dave and Busters arcade is a fun time especially since it is located inside the mall so you have other options for food and entertainment as well.
About Providence Place:
Providence Place is an urban shopping mall, currently owned by GGP Inc. It is located in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, near the Rhode Island State House and Providence Station, and by the interchange of I-95, I-195, U.S. 1 and U.S. 6.
The mall became the largest shopping mall in Rhode Island and Providence Plantations with its opening in 1999, with a total of 1,400,000 sq ft (130,000 m2) gross leasable area. It was originally anchored by Lord & Taylor, Filene's, and Nordstrom; Lord & Taylor was later replaced by JCPenney, which itself was replaced with an expanded parking garage following the latter store's closure in 2015. Filene's was converted to Macy's in 2006.
About Providence, Rhode Island:
Providence is the capital city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It's home to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, whose RISD Museum displays American art and silver. Nearby, 18th- and 19th-century homes line the streets of College Hill. Waterplace Park is the backdrop for the WaterFire art installation, which lights up the surrounding tidal basin most nights in the summer and for special events.

The Arcade Providence - Raw & Real Retail
This is our walkthrough of The Arcade Providence in Providence, RI from February 20, 2019. This is a historic structure, first being built in 1828 and is of the style that was the predecessor to what became the malls, the shopping arcade. The top 2 floors are being used for apartments and cannot be accessed by non-tenants.

Here is a brief history from Wikipedia:
The Westminster Arcade (also known as the Providence Arcade, Arcade Providence, or The Arcade) is a historic shopping center at 130 Westminster Street and 65 Weybosset Street in downtown Providence, Rhode Island built in 1828. It is notable as the first enclosed shopping mall in the United States and has been lauded as a fine example of commercial Greek Revival architecture. It served as a shopping center for many years before falling into decline in the late 20th century. It has since been closed for renovation and rehabilitation several times, and most recently reopened its doors in October 2013 as a residential and commercial mixed-use building. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
The Arcade was developed as a commercial business venture by Cyrus Butler. Its preliminary design called for two floors of shops, and a third floor was added to the plans before construction began. The building was designed by Russell Warren and Tallman & Bucklin. Their design called for an arcaded lane of shops with skylights in the roof providing illumination, in emulation of similar structures then found in some European cities. Construction of the mall roughly followed the original plan, but some hasty alterations were made to meet the need for a vestibule and stairway on the Weybosset Street side of the building to provide access to the third floor. These were not well-constructed and required repairs in the 1940s.
At the time of the Arcade's opening, there were few retail stores on the west side of the Providence River. Most shopping was located on the east side or Cheapside district. The arcade was slow to attract customers and was known as Butler's Folly for many years because of its distance from the retail districts. This changed when a fashionable hat shop opened next door which attracted wealthy female customers to the neighborhood. After that, Westminster Street and downtown developed into a major shopping area.
In June 1843, President John Tyler toured New England while considering a potential third-party bid for re-election. One of Tyler's several Providence stops was at the Westminster Arcade, where he reportedly shook hands with 5,000 people.
The building served as a shopping center well into the 20th century. It fell into disrepair but was rehabilitated by architects Irving B. Haynes & Associates and Gilbane Properties, and it reopened in 1980. It closed again in 2008 for renovations. It reopened in October 2013 as a mixed-use commercial and residential micro-loft space under real estate developer Evan Granoff of Granoff Associates LLC working with Northeast Collaborative Architects.
The Arcade was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

Providence, RI: Millar Hydraulic Stateside Mall Elevators @ Providence Place
This is the Millar Roped Hydraulic Mall Elevator, on the Stateside end of Providence Place, Providence, Rhode Island.
First thing I noticed is how much it looks like one of the Monties I've ridden, so I thought both of these Mall lifts were from them, but upon closer research, found it to be otherwise.
Anyway, like any Millar variant of a Schindler product, they're crap. They shake, the valve timings are horrible, and are inconsistent. The later one also had slight pre-door, but that's likely more to sloppy workmanship than intent.
What's funny about these Mall elevators is that they only serve the parking decks, and just the first floor of the mall itself. I figure there must be central ones that cover all three floors, but there wasn't. You have to rely on other parking garage elevators which serve both. This is the one bad design of the complex I've found.
