Plein Air Painting With True Grit in Colorado
I recently traveled to Montrose, Colorado, for a plein air adventure. While there I met up with legendary landscape painter Ralph Oberg. We visited Ralph Lauren’s Double RL Ranch, painted outdoors on the Uncompaghre River, and caught a beautiful sunset and magnificent moonrise over the Cimarron’s. My son-in-law Eric McGrew took me into the backcountry in his Toyota 4Runner. We went From the Adobe’s in Montrose to the North Fruita Desert outside of Grand Junction in search of great locations to paint.

An Early Morning Drive to Fort Collins!!! (Day 327 - 9.23.2015)

The vlog starts off with me waking up super early, even before the sun, and packing up and heading out of my smokey hotel room. I then head over to get gas and am greeted by an odd sign stating You Are Nowhere. Through no additional work on my own the gas pump stopped exactly on the quarter.
I headed out on Interstate 80 toward the Colorado border and was given nothing but rain and more and more light cutting through the clouds. Eventually I crossed back into Colorado by using Interstate 76 and then made a short transition to US 6 and finally Colorado Route 14. Route 14 seemed super familiar to me and I couldn't immediately place my finger on why and then it hit me...Colorado Route 14 is Mulberry Street inside Fort Collins. It was shocking to me that I was going to be on this road for more than 100 miles and it's one that I knew exactly where it ended.
After arriving at the house an hour and a half later I went to work on a couple of items before heading back out to get some Chipotle. It was absolutely delicious and powered me to finishing up the editing on the vlog episode and get it uploaded on time.
After getting that done it was time to work some more before my family got home. When they did it was hours of fun to catch up and see how my family is doing and to generally exchange thoughts and perspectives on so many things.
Given that I had been up on short sleep the night ended very early for me.
I hope you all had a great Wednesday!

Public Enemies
From award-winning director Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral) comes the film inspired by one of the country's most captivating and infamous outlaws - John Dillinger. Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean series) stars as the charismatic and elusive bank robber marked by the FBI as America's first Public Enemy Number One. Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose) plays Billie Frechette, the only woman capable of capturing his heart. Hunted relentlessly by top FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale, The Dark Knight), Dillinger engages in an escalating game of outrunning and outgunning the FBI, culminating in an explosive legendary showdown. It's a landmark crime saga (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone).

Our story begins as Vox Machina, the heroes of Emon, arrive at the cavernous underground city of Kraghammer. After wiping out a grave threat to Emon’s emperor, Sovereign Uriel Tal'Dorei III, the band of adventurers has been sent on a journey by Arcanist, Allura Vysoren to find Lady Kima of Vord, a Halfling Paladin of Bahamut, who was drawn to Kraghammer upon learning of a great evil resting beneath it. The party get their bearings in the sprawling, dwarven city, meet a few of its more colorful denizens, and learn that the dwarves have been dealing with unnatural creatures spilling out of the mines in recent months. The mine’s overseer, Nostoc Greyspine, barely finishes explaining their troubles, when a pack of goblins and ogres come spilling out of the mine’s entrance, pursued by something far worse.
