Leap of Faith: Church of England en route to extinction
Hand in hand with the British Monarchy, the Church of England has been a symbol of the UK for centuries. And while the Church still enjoys many unique political and financial privileges - it's current state is less than secure, as RT's Polly Boyko found out.

Bell Ringers´ Room, Church St. Mary The Great, Cambridge, UK on Sunday 09th August, 2015
Four Leads of Bristol Suprise Maximus is the title of the sequence.
In total they rang 194 changes, i.e. every ringer pulled his rope 194 times.
If you listen carefully near the beginning you can hear the conductor say Go Bristol [at 01:12]- that is when ringing the changes begin. Before that they were ringing Rounds (bells 1 to 12 in order).
Bristol is the name of the method which is the mathematical pattern of how ringings commenced, whereas Maximus means 12, i.e. all 12 bells were ringing.
(Many thanks to chief ringer Frank King [from 00:38 in left corner] for the explanation, which hopefully helps viewers to understand the beauty of how it works.)

The Choir
There has been a choir at St Peter's since 1736, when a singers' gallery was erected at the West End of the church.
The Organ
Re-consecrated at the end of 2000, the magnificent 3-manual organ is one of the finest in the Southwell and Nottingham Diocese. The foundation of this instrument was the organ of Clare College, Cambridge, which was purchased in 1970 together with its ornate case. It was substantially altered and enlarged by Noel Mander of London before installation in the south chapel in 1971. The original pipe work dating from the 1870's was by Gray & Davison and had been revoiced by Harrison & Harrison in 1911.
Bells
Bells have been rung for centuries at St Peter's inviting people to worship.
Bells are generally rung for Sunday services, for weddings (by arrangement) and on other special occasions.
The oldest of the church bells is dated 1603, and the peal was made up to eight bells in 1762. Bells eventually show wear and have to be re-cast, and the last occasion on which this took place was in 1948.
