#Visit Fisherman’s Wharf and indulge in its shops and galleries, as well as some of the best fresh seafood you’ll ever taste. If it’s a more serene environment you’re after, pass through the stately architecture and flowing lagoon of the Palace of Fine Arts.
Of course, San Francisco #sightseeing isn’t complete without an excursion to Alcatraz, the island prison that once held some of the country’s most notorious criminals. Look into its empty cells and thick stone walls and wonder, could you escape “The Rock”?
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

10 Top Tourist Attractions in San Francisco - Travel Video
San Francisco, everyone’s favorite city, is located at the tip of a peninsula between the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific coast. A compact city of steep rolling hills surrounded on three sides by water, San Francisco is renowned for its summer fogs, Victorian architecture, cable cars and beautiful vistas. Just remember: Don’t call it Frisco and do bring warm clothing. The famous quote “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco” isn’t from Mark Twain but it is a pretty accurate statement of San Francisco’s weather. An overview of the top tourist attractions in San Francisco.
San Francisco in 3 days
Our first stop was the visitor information centre, as usual, and then a coffee to look through what they gave us which included a couple of self guided walking tours. We decided to start with the Golden Gate Park so took the no5 tram from Powell. We got off early to have a look at the Haight Ashbury district which was the centre of the 60’s hippie movement, then along the “pan handle” to the park where we spotted a Red-Tailed Hawk high up in a tree. We visited the large greenhouse called the Conservatory of Flowers. We then spent some time in The Californian Academy of Sciences with its amazing Tropical Rainforest area where you walk among the birds and butterflies (we spotted Blue Macaws and Sopho Longwing butterflies among others). There is also an aquarium with an underwater glass tunnel. On top of the building is a living roof. We then looked around the De Young Museum of Fine Arts. That building also has the Hamon Observation Tower for a panoramic view of San Francisco. We passed some Segway training on the way to Stow Lake and the Redwood Memorial Grove. The next day we walked around the brightly painted Victorian houses around Alamo Square known as “The Painted Ladies” before taking one of the walking tours we were given. Starting with the Westin Hotel in Union Square we passed Ruth Asawa’s “San Francisco Fountain”, the Halide glass-walled building, into the Crocker Galleria with its roof terrace and on to China town. There we picked up the walking tour from Lonely Planets California book passed the restored Old Saint Mary cathedral and other sights such as Spofford, Ross and Jack Kerouas alleys with their graffiti and poetry. We fortified ourselves for the climb ahead with a panini from Molinari before walking up to the Lilian Coit Memorial Tower for the best views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Back down to earth we took streetcar F to Fisherman’s Wharf and the lively Pier 39. We then had a ride on the old cable car. The last day we took a couple of busses over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito before catching the very convenient BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) back to the airport.

BEYOND AMAZING PENTHOUSE TOUR - Fairmont San Francisco
With 6,000 square feet of stylish luxury, the amazing Penthouse at the Fairmont San Francisco ( is essentially a mansion that sits on top of the luxury hotel. Built in the 1920 as a private residence for a very wealthy guy, the three-bedroom suite has seen everyone from JFK to Mick Jagger as a guest.
I visited the suite a few years ago and just had a chance to return for an even more detailed tour. From the Moroccan-tiled billiard room to the terrace with postcard views over the Financial District, it's just an amazing space. The luxury hotel suite has a huge living room, a two-story library with a domed planetarium ceiling (and a secret exit), a formal dining room, a commercial kitchen and three bedrooms, each with their own luxurious bathroom.
The Fairmont San Francisco opened in 1907 and sits atop Nob Hill, offering it amazing views of the entire city and the bay beyond, including Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Driving Downtown - San Francisco 4K - USA
Driving Downtown - San Francisco California USA - Episode 48.
Starting Point: California Street - .
San Francisco is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California. It is the most densely settled large city in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City.
A popular tourist destination, San Francisco is known for its cool summers, fog, steep rolling hills, eclectic mix of architecture, and landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, the former Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, Fisherman's Wharf, and its Chinatown district. San Francisco is also the headquarters of five major banking institutions and various other companies such as Levi Strauss & Co., Gap Inc., Salesforce.com, Dropbox, Reddit, Square, Inc., Dolby, Airbnb, Weebly, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Yelp, Pinterest, Twitter, Uber, Lyft, Mozilla, Wikimedia Foundation, and Craigslist. It has several nicknames, including The City by the Bay, Fog City, San Fran, and Frisco, as well as older ones like The City that Knows How, Baghdad by the Bay, The Paris of the West, or simply The City. As of 2016, San Francisco is ranked high on world liveability rankings.
The last 20 years have seen two booms driven by the internet industry. First was the dot-com boom of the late 1990s, startup companies invigorated the San Francisco economy. Large numbers of entrepreneurs and computer application developers moved into the city, followed by marketing, design, and sales professionals, changing the social landscape as once-poorer neighborhoods became increasingly gentrified. Demand for new housing and office space ignited a second wave of high-rise development, this time in the South of Market district. By 2000, the city's population reached new highs, surpassing the previous record set in 1950. When the bubble burst in 2001, many of these companies folded and their employees were laid off. Yet high technology and entrepreneurship remain mainstays of the San Francisco economy. By the mid 2000s (decade), the social media boom had begun, with San Francisco becoming a popular location for tech offices and a popular place to live for people employed in Silicon Valley companies such as Apple and Google.
Economy
San Francisco has a diversified service economy, with employment spread across a wide range of professional services, including financial services, tourism, and (increasingly) high technology.
Tourism and Conventions
Tourism is one of the city's largest private-sector industries, accounting for more than one out of seven jobs in the city. The city's frequent portrayal in music, film, and popular culture has made the city and its landmarks recognizable worldwide.
Sports
Major League Baseball's San Francisco Giants have played in San Francisco since moving from New York in 1958. The San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL) were the longest-tenured major professional sports franchise in the city until moving in 2013.
Culture and Contemporary Life
Although the Financial District, Union Square, and Fisherman's Wharf are well-known around the world, San Francisco is also characterized by its numerous culturally rich streetscapes featuring mixed-use neighborhoods anchored around central commercial corridors to which residents and visitors alike can walk.
Beaches and Parks
Several of San Francisco's parks and nearly all of its beaches form part of the regional Golden Gate National Recreation Area, one of the most visited units of the National Park system in the United States with over 13 million visitors a year.
