Sailing aboard Christabelle in the Bay of Islands NZ (1981)
Sailing aboard Christabelle! In the summer of 1979, we spent our Holidays in the Bay of Isands, NZ! On the second day there, we had the unique opportunity to spend an afternoon aboard the ketch (two master) Christabelle a home built steel hulled vessel of Dutch design. She was 50 feet long and weighed in at 25 tons. We believe that she is still around, somewhere in the South Pacific! A great and beautiful sailing boat!

Sailing Bay of Islands, Northland New Zealand - Exclusive & Personalised
BAY OF ISLANDS SAILING ABOARD ATAAHUA
Ataahua is the Maori translation for ‘Beautiful’ – a beautiful Bavaria Vision yacht with a beautiful sailing vision
The Bay of Islands is not only one of New Zealand’s most breathtaking coastal regions, but above all it is also ranked as one of the best sailing environments in the world!
The many islands in the bay offer a multitude of sheltered anchoring spots. The crystal clear water and white sandy beaches are perfect to enjoy a gourmet lunch, a quick swim or perhaps a snorkel. Listening to stories of the early pioneers, mariners and settlers will complete your Bay of Islands sailing experience.
So, if you are looking to enjoy an exclusive and personal Bay of Islands hosted sailing cruise, coupled with awesome New Zealand scenery, then an Ataahua sailing experience is a must do.
Ataahua offers something a little different:
Ataahua only caters for a maximum of four guests. As a result we offer the discerning guest a more exclusive and personalised Bay of Islands sailing experience.
Ataahua is built by Bavaria Yachts and most importantly, designed by one of New Zealand’s leading yacht designers, Bruce Farr. With this combination, Ataahua is a great performance yacht. She was launched in New Zealand in 2018.
After many years’ award winning experience in 5 star hospitality, we are now combining our love of being on the water with hosting guests.
Finally, our vision is quite simple – to create a memorable Bay of Islands sailing experience for you.
