The Residences at The Miami Beach Edition
It has been 17 years since Ian Schrager left his mark on Miami Beach with the introduction of the Delano Hotel. Now, he's back and this time around he is taking Miami Beach by storm again with his latest vision, The Residences at The Miami Beach Edition. Miami Beach has seen a vast transformation since Schrager last left his imprint on the city. No longer just a tourist destination, Miami Beach has matured into a world-class, metropolitan city which is attracting global citizens from around the world.
In collaboration with world-renown architect John Pawson, Schrager is looking to raise the bar again with this latest project. Schrager believes The Residences at the Miami Beach Edition will have a similar impact as the Delano Hotel in helping to reshape the landscape of Miami Beach with its unique and one of a kind residences. There is simply nothing else like them currently in the marketplace. We tried to capture the details of life in the details of architecture, says Schrager. Each of these luxurious and sophisticated Homes in the Sky are different from one another, as they are each a one-of-a-kind, custom one-off.
Offering only 26 limited edition residences in total, these units will be located on the top floors of the existing, landmarked 1950s building that will be the Miami Beach Edition Hotel, in addition to a newly constructed 18-story tower which will be adjacent to the existing structure. Resident owners will be privy to the very best of all worlds at The Miami Beach Edition. From one-of-a kind, luxurious homes, to exclusive access to all hotel amenities and services, including a myriad of exciting and dynamic food, beverage, and entertainment options. In addition, resident owners will be provided their very own private entrances as well as an anonymous celebrity entrance.

Muir Woods National Monument is a unit of the National Park Service on the Pacific coast of southwestern Marin County, California, 12 miles (19 km) north of San Francisco and part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It protects 554 acres (224 ha),[4] of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old growth Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests,[5] one of a few such stands remaining in the San Francisco Bay Area.
One hundred and fifty million years ago ancestors of redwood and sequoia trees grew throughout the United States. Today, the Sequoia sempervirens can be found only in a narrow, cool coastal belt from Monterey, California, in the south to Oregon in the north.
Before the logging industry came to California, there were an estimated 2 million acres (8,000 km2) of old growth forest containing redwoods growing in a narrow strip along the coast.
By the early 20th century, most of these forests had been cut down. Just north of the San Francisco Bay, one valley named Redwood Canyon remained uncut, mainly due to its relative inaccessibility.
This was noticed by U.S. Congressman William Kent. He and his wife, Elizabeth Thacher Kent, purchased 611 acres (247 ha) of land from the Tamalpais Land and Water Company for $45,000 with the goal of protecting the redwoods and the mountain above them.
In 1907, a water company in nearby Sausalito planned to dam Redwood Creek, thereby flooding the valley. When Kent objected to the plan, the water company threatened to use eminent domain and took him to court to attempt to force the project to move ahead. Kent sidestepped the water company's plot by donating 295 acres (119 ha) of the redwood forest to the federal government, thus bypassing the local courts.
On January 9, 1908, President Theodore Roosevelt declared the land a National Monument, the first to be created from land donated by a private individual. The original suggested name of the monument was the Kent Monument but Kent insisted the monument be named after naturalist John Muir, whose environmental campaigns helped to establish the National Park system. President Roosevelt agreed, writing back:
MY DEAR MR. KENT: By George! you are right.
and, responding to some photographs of Muir Woods that Mr. Kent had sent him,
Those are awfully good photos.[9]
Kent and Muir had become friends over shared views of wilderness preservation, but Kent's later support for the flooding of Hetch Hetchy caused Muir to end their friendship.[10]
In December 1928, the Kent Memorial was erected at the Kent Tree in Fern Canyon. This tree—a Douglas fir, not a redwood—was said to be Kent's favorite. Due to its height of 280 feet (85 m) and location on a slope, the tree leaned towards the valley for more than 100 years. According to Muir Woods Storms in El Niño years of 1981 and 1982 caused the tree to tilt even more and took out the top 40 feet (12 m) of the tree. During the winter of 2002–03, many storms brought high winds to Muir Woods causing the tree to lean so much that a fissure developed in January 2003. This fissure grew larger as the tree slowly leaned more and more, forcing the closure of some trails. On March 18, 2003, at around 8:28 pm, the tree fell, damaging several other trees nearby. The closed trails have since been reconfigured and reopened.
In 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge was completed and park attendance tripled, reaching over 180,000. Muir Woods is one of the major tourist attractions of the San Francisco Bay Area, with 776,000 visitors in 2005.
In the spring of 1945, delegates from 50 countries met in San Francisco to draft and sign the United Nations Charter. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt died on April 12, 1945, shortly before he was to have opened the United Nations Conference. On May 19, the delegates held a commemorative ceremony in tribute to his memory in Muir Woods' Cathedral Grove, where a dedication plaque was placed in his honor.
The monument was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 9, 2008.[3]

Cruise Ship Private Island vs Exploring a Caribbean Island On Your Own Which is the better way to go? If you get off a cruise ship in a Caribbean port, you can explore the local lay of the lnd, but you may be subjected to unwanted advances from locals trying to sell you something. If you only visit private islands or cays operated by the cruise lines, you may become bored with the lack of local culture, but you will enjoy security and a fun setting for a day out with your children.

Elevator Electric Hydraulic Elevators @ The Pioneer House-Sacramento, CA
I will tell you now, don't come here. I was here because I had to do a flag ceremony for Veterans Day. This is a senior living residence, and the public is not permitted to be in here. Security is tight, and even after I got permission to film, I was still questioned (as heard in the video). After the video, security talked to me a bit, and I explained everything to them. I recommend you don't risk going to jail for trespassing over these things. They are nothing special anymore.

London and Paris Vacation - Traveling Robert
This is a chronicle of our trip to London and Paris in the spring of 2015. We stay in Greenwich just to east of London, visit several other places in England such as Windsor, Bath and Stonehenge. Also see all the major Paris tourist attractions including a cruise on the Seine River except for the Louvre Museum. It is still a great Paris Travel Guide for a first timer.

The Bigfoot Stories You've Never Heard #WeirdDarkness
I KNOW THE MUSIC IS TOO LOUD. Unfortunately I had to learn that after I'd already posted this and it had been up for a while. My other videos do not have the same problem.
SOURCE: Cabinet of Curiosities by Troy Taylor:
Check out the HauntingStories channel!
This episode is a collaboration with my friends and Haunting Stories. I’ll be telling you about Bigfoot – and over at Haunting Stories they’ve posted another video, with me narrating a continuation of this regarding the Minnesota Iceman! Be sure to check out their video right after you watch this one! This is Weird Darkness – where you’ll find creepypastas, ghost stories, unsolved mysteries, crytptids like Bigfoot, and other stories of the strange and bizarre. Feel free to share your own creepy story at WeirdDarkness.com, I might use it in a future episode! Now.. sit back, turn down the lights, and come with me into the Weird Darkness!
It all started with a bunch of footprints at a construction site. Or at least the modern-day fascination with “Bigfoot” did. Stories of hairy giants in the woods and wandering “wild men” had been a part of American lore for nearly two centuries by the time the nickname “Bigfoot” was coined in the late 1950s. But it was then, with the advent of television and the modern media, that chasing down giants in the woods became a national craze.
It was the spring of 1957 and a road construction project was underway near Bluff Creek in northern California. The project was run by a contractor named Ray Wallace and his brother, Wilbur. They hired thirty men that summer to work on the project and by late in the season, Wilbur Wallace reported that something had been throwing around some metal oil drums at the work site. When winter arrived that year, cold weather brought the work to a halt, even though only ten miles of road had been completed.
In early spring 1958, some odd tracks were discovered near the Mad River close to Korbel, California. Some of the locals believed they were bear tracks. As it happened, this was close to another work site that was managed by the Wallace brothers.
Later on that spring, work started up again on the road near Bluff Creek. A number of new men were hired, including Jerry Crew, who drove more than two hours each weekend so he could be home with his family. Ten more miles of road were constructed, angling up across the face of a nearby mountain. On August 3, 1958, Wilbur Wallace stated that something threw a seven-hundred-pound spare tire to the bottom of a deep gully near the work site. This incident was reported later in the month, after the discovery of the footprints.
On August 27, Jerry Crew arrived for work early in the morning and found giant, manlike footprints pressed into the dirt all around his bulldozer. He was at first upset by the discovery, thinking that someone was playing a practical joke on him, but then he decided to report what he found to Wilbur Wallace. At this point, the footprints had not been made public. That occurred on September 21, when Mrs. Jess Bemis, the wife of one of the Bluff Creek work crew, wrote a letter to Andrew Genzoli, the editor of a local newspaper. Genzoli published her husband's Big Foot story and caught the attention of others in the area. One of these was Betty Allen, a newspaper reporter who suggested in a late September column that plaster casts should be made of the footprints. She had already talked to local Native Americans and interviewed residents about hairy giants in the area. She convinced Genzoli to run other stories and letters about Bigfoot. This would be the beginning of a story that would capture the imagination of America.
On October 1 and 2, Jerry Crew discovered more tracks, very similar to the first ones. In response to the new discovery, two workers quit and Wilbur Wallace allegedly introduced his brother Ray to the situation for the first time, bringing him out to show him the tracks. On the day after the last tracks were found, Jerry Crew made plaster casts of the footprints, with help from his friend Bob Titmus and reporter Betty Allen. He was irritated that people were making fun of him and wanted to offer the casts as evidence that he wasn’t making the whole thing up. On October 5, Andrew Genzoli published his now-famous story about Bigfoot. It was picked up worldwide by the wire services, and soon the term was being used in general conversation.
