Germany Travel Photography Vlog
A new travel vlog from Germany! I decided I don't want to live in a castle.
Today was day 5 cruising down the Rhine river with Viking River Cruises. In the morning, we made our way down the castle lined middle Rhine which was absolutely beautiful. Despite the rainy weather it was still a pretty spectacular spot. A great place to start any Germany travel vlog.
As we cruised along, the ship's director narrated stories of the castles. And, to be honest, I'm not really sure why anyone would want to live in a castle. It seems like they're always fighting for them.
Midday, we arrived in Koblenz where we'd spend the rest of the day in Germany.
I jumped on a tour out to Marksburg Castle which is one of the most famous castles in Germany. It stands perched atop a hill with stunning views down on the Rhine River.
From the top, for a moment, I contemplated how brilliant life must be from the top of the mountain living in a castle. Then, of course, I came to the conclusion that I'd be bored out of my mind in a castle in no time. I don't want to live in a castle - I've come to this as a conclusion.
Leaving Marksburg Castle, we headed back to the boat. After a massive meal and a nap, I headed out into Koblenz to do some exploring and shoot some photography.
I've never had so many strange looks out shooting than I got in Koblenz. It was like they'd never seen a photographer before. Also, the rain kind of dampened my spirits and the shots in town. But, it was still a good day traveling Germany and exploring the castles around Koblenz and along the Rhine.
Tomorrow, there will be one last Germany travel vlog before this boat pushes us into The Netherlands.

Germany/Cologne: Police strengthens security as Cologne Carnival gets underway
Extensive police presence was visible on the streets of Cologne, Thursday, as festivities got underway for the city's annual Cologne Carnival.
Armed officers joined the large number of law enforcement personnel who were deployed for the parade. The city also issued a ban on trucks in the city centre.
The Cologne Carnival kicked off Thursday with the Women's Carnival Day, with festivities running until February 28.
