Mt Meru - Summit No 6 of 7, Tanzania
Mount Meru is a dormant stratovolcano located 70 kilometres (43 miles) west of Mount Kilimanjaro in the nation of Tanzania. At a height of 4,562.13 metres (14,968 ft), it is visible from Mt Kilimanjaro on a clear day, and is the fifth highest mountain in Africa, dependent on definition. It was the #7SummitsAfrica team's 6th summit of 7. One to go.
Kilimanjaro II Coca cola Road II Arusha II Tanzania II East Africa
Mount Kilimanjaro or just Kilimanjaro with its three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world, with its summit of 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level and at about 4,900 metres (16,100 ft) high from its plateau base. Kilimanjaro is also the fourth most topographically prominent peak on Earth. The first people known to have reached the summit of the mountain were Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller, in 1889. The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro National Park and is a major climbing destination. Because of its shrinking glacers and disappearing ice fields, the mountain has been the subject of many scientific studies.

Safari Tanzania! Experience Southern Tanzania Safari with Sand & Safari Company [HD]
When people imagine a safari without realizing it they are visualizing Tanzania. From the vast plains of the Serengeti to the white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean it truly is the ultimate Sand & Safari destination.
Our Tanzania is wild and adventurous with an old world safari style. Each park unique and diverse. We want to tailor make your tour and design it to your individual requirements. Blending your ideas and interests with our intimate knowledge.
Sand
There is no better way to end your safari than on the white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean. Kick back and relax. We can organize it all from a boutique hotel in Stone Town to a secluded beach villa or resort. Tanzania has it all from the Islands of Zanzibar, Mafia or Pemba. Why not explore our underwater wildlife with a diving or snorkeling trip. Let's not forget the mainland has some incredible beach locations too.
Northern Tanzania Safaris
With snow capped Kilimanjaro, vast plains of the Serengeti, red cloaked Maasai warriors and wildlife packed Ngorongoro Crater, these iconic attractions have drawn tourists in their hundreds of thousands for decades. But wait there's more! Mt Meru, the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara and Arusha all add to the diversity of this popular region. The close proximity of all the attractions make for easy tranfers allowing for more time relaxing or on safari.
Southern Tanzania Safaris
A visit to the south of Tanzania and its parks is well off the beaten track. Unlike the north the south receives far less visitors and animals far outnumber 4x4 vehicles! We live nearby in the Southern highlands and have been sending tourists into the regions parks. They always remark that they've enjoyed the contrast over the hectic northern parks and their abundance of tourists. The south offers much better value for money with park fees being considerably lower and with camps of a high standard. The south will provide you with an authentic safari experience within it's various remote and unspoiled parks. This circuit can be arranged with 4x4 vehicle or light aircraft. We also offer escorted safaris. All safaris are tailor made to suit your interests and requirements. Add on Zanzibar to complete your Sand & Safari experience.
Western Tanzania
A few words help sum up the west of the country... Raw, remote, vast, rewarding. Still very much as it was when Stanley found Livingstone here back in 1871. Travel must be meticulously arranged, that's where we come in. The region is largely trackless therefore more adventurous. It contains 2 of the worlds finest Chimp encounter opportunities, made famous thanks to Jane Goodalls incredible research in Gombe Stream NP.
A safari here is intense and unforgettable. Animal numbers can be astounding. Few visitors to the region promises apart from your expert guides you will have the place to yourselves.

Kenya and Tanzania: A Classic Safari
Almost 30 Johns Hopkins alumni experienced this 11-day journey of a lifetime to Tanzania, where herds of elephant, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and Cape buffalo roamed the savannas, shadowed by magnificent lion, cheetah and leopard. In the north, the snow-crowned summit of Kilimanjaro towered above the plains. From Lake Manyara, the expansive grasslands of the Serengeti offered vistas in every direction. And, in the Ngorongoro Crater, savannas, forests and wetlands were enclosed by sheer 2,000-foot-high rock walls. Each day, alumni on this trip enjoyed dawn and late-afternoon game drives before basking in the radiant glow of an African sunset.

President Kenyatta Travels To Arusha, Tanzania By Road
For the first time since his election, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a road trip to a neigbouring country, Tanzania. Kenyatta who made several stopovers underscored the need for Tanzanians to embrace the East African spirit, which includes abolishing travel documents and encouraging free movement of persons and goods between state parties.
Safari in Tanzania - Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara
After our summit of Kilimanjaro the gang went on a 5-day safari in Tanzania to visit Tarangire National Park, Nogorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park. We ate lunch on the plains of the Serengeti, challenged Maasai warriors to a piggy-back race, and got closer to wild animals than we thought possible. It was epic.

Nancy Pearlman Climbs Kilimanjaro -- ECONEWS Adventure in Tanzania East Africa
Mount Kilimanjaro / January 2014
We toured Tanzania with Simba Safaris of Arusha, Tanzania. Several days of riding through Tarangire National Park, then to Mount Kilimanjaro.
What a contrast. From the 5 star luxury of Sopa Lodge to the simplicity of the huts on the Marangu trail up Kilimanjaro. Simba Safaris gave us the luxury of huts. Other hikers slept in tents.
In the huts and dining halls, we did have the modern marvel of electric lights, provided by a solar/battery system.
Perfect weather. Days clear, sometimes wind. Even on the summit, only a few passing clouds.
Our trail leader, Silvano Mchuwa, assembled a team of assistants, porters, even a personal cook. These fellows can be seen singing and clowning in the video. They were fun.
They carried everything -- except for our cameras.
Nancy Pearlman amazed the young men. At 65, she went to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. We met a man even older, 78, who also went to the summit.
Roger Fielding of Cultural Vacations and Safaris negotiated the details from his office in Orlando, Florida, USA. And this is important --- absolutely do not go to Moshe, the base town of Kilimanjaro and hire a guide off the street. People die on Kilimanjaro.
Serving as a trail captain requires a college degree and a license. Silvano Mchuwa not only qualified with his degree and extensive knowledge, he had also led 46 climbs before our walk up the mountain. He and his assistants also spoke excellent English.
We encountered a group of Japanese tourists led by a guide who did not speak English or Japanese --- and the tourists did not speak Swahili. If one of the foreigners suffered an altitude embolism, how would the foreigner communicate the symptoms? Could the off-the-street guide call in a helicopter medevac in time to save their life?
Dealing with Roger of Cultural Vacations also insures travelers will actually have a team and services ready for them when they arrive in Africa. Credit card information goes to the Cultural Vacations office in Orlando, United States of America. How will a foreigner know they send their credit card number to a legitimate office in Tanzania? Will the charge go to a safari company? Or to an internet cafe in Nigeria?
I recorded this program for ECONEWS of Los Angeles, California. Professor Nancy Pearlman, host and producer.
I received credit as director and camera operator: Robert Payne of VideoAdventures.Info.
Editor: Nantawan Khoosuwan (Mikhoo) -- see her other work at

I videoed Kilimanjaro with a Canon XA10 video camera. I recorded ambiente forest sound with a Tascam 40 digital recorder.
I mounted the XA10 on a Manfrotto carbon-fiber tripod -- very light, easy to carry all day.
Wasabi extended life batteries made this video possible. Six days without alternating current? The Wasabi batteries from Blue Nook are very inexpensive, a fraction of the cost of Canon batteries.
I charged four batteries. At higher than 15,000 feet, I fell. I tried to protect the camera with my body, but the camera hit the rocks. The impact broke the Wasabi battery. It functioned, but flickered if I moved the camera. I swapped out the battery. No problem with extras.
Blue Nook sells two Wasabi extended life batteries and a charger for less than $50. I bought two sets for the XA10 and the T4i. 4 batteries and two chargers for each camera. Less than $200 in total.
Also, independent chargers protect the expensive cameras. Blue Nook ships Asian adapters with the chargers. Plug a charger straight into the wall. Canon directs the users to charge through their cameras. Third World power surges can burn out a camera.
